On a positive note, loved the way he kept talking about the Jewels. It made me smile everytime he would say the word Jewels and it was a lot. Also the lady host too. Lots of early promotion for Jewels. So they should really be aiming to have the highest turnover ever for a Jewels day. No excuses really, its a good test for it. Wonder what the Jewels highest turnover is beat ... ??

Congrats to Copy That and connections. Another eye catching run by Bad to the Bone, as posted above "Well now maybe that ability that one saw at that time on Bad To the Bone is now showing". The plot thickens & should be a good show down between, Copy That, Bad to the Bone & Pembrook Playboy come Jewels. Draws will be crucial, could see any of these 3 winning at Cambridge over the mile, whoever gets the best draw to lead.

& Marky Mark is the lucky poster on Highgrove the 2 y-o trotter clear top dog & future Jewels fav.
-
Well just had to have a quick look to see which poster had been given this horse & its Derek. Looks like finally the future favourite for the Jewels 2 y-os has been revealed with this crop fillies. Nice win tonight π Still the 2 y-o boys for me is yet to be given top dog title ... who will it be ... ?

What is there racing action on right now ... ? Oh dear, missing out. Gee that is early start, didn't catch that. Im really hit & miss. End up overall prob breaking even. Def no pro-punter unfortunately Whippy. Hence practice is good with fun comps π Can only watch tonight really & time for me to get off here lol. I better go. Good luck for rest of day.

Oh my just caught this thread as it popped up in right hand corner. Gee Gospel that is not good re the article you shared. Not you, but the article what it is about. Didnβt realise was like that, that is like what happens in movies, but it usually doesn't end so nicely with smiles and becoming friends. Iv noticed they have $500 comps on RC lately regularly wonder how/who sponsors that? Golly the costs for that would add up. Galloping folks, as we donβt have a sponsor like that on here, Gospel and I are running a fun comp its $10 donation to enter, its for the Jewels 6th June Harness 9 Group 1 races. You are all welcome to enter. Winner takes all & will be a bet towards a race 8 or 9 at Jewels to help with turnover for the day. To donate is under subscriptions. Final details will be closer to the time.

Oh no Whippy, I hope you get some luck tonight if you bet π Think with Brods a lot of time went in, like a lot, kind of like a full time job, lots & lots of video watching, not just ok pick one. But yeah anyone got any good tips. Jonny Long shot. Roman had a good place Value tip at Alex BUT see its come in now so not so much the value place tip, Steel the Show. Also note they are now taking top 4 too at Alex which helps increase the odds of running in the pay out money, but obviously paying less.

Yip agree, the more I'm thinking about this, the more I am thinking its time to graduate to senior driver ranks. The time has come π No negativity just positivity and she can easily fit in as a senior driver. Id prefer being put in race even if its 3 or 4 wide, as I said at least they put horse in race. The timing is the key thing for me with this, 4 wide around a full corner at somewhere like Cambridge mid race is not ideal. Got to move along those straights if poss & when tempo slows. But all drivers make mistakes. Take Z Butcher who is my fav driver number 1 driver & I've said that on here prior. But felt even he made a mistake last nite Camb in an early race, after a fab mid race move to get the 1-1, then felt he came out way too early & took the final cnr fully 3 wide around it not part way around it. Didn't understand the need to cover all the extra ground. The horse faded. But yes all good points, Eljay you might know the weather answer Davis is asking about in Auks on another thread.
-
Out of Auks region currently & for weekend, so can't give you the weather tip. But where I am its nice weather. So hopefully it is also nice tonite at Alex π
-
Its up on HRNZ now, poster Taku U, was right in Hawera got 2 days back π, early Feb tho oppose late Jan.

Sometimes with amateur races, Iβm like oh 3 wide oh & now 4 wide. Oh dear, but then I think, oh well at least they are trying to put horse in race π¬ Wouldnβt it be harder to drive in because of this & often the speed is on & sometimes kamikaze driving for lead. Well gotta say Galahs sorry but no sympathy there for you, you knew the sito & odds but chose to bet against. But at least it was just a small bet π Not sure I, 100% agree with you re Wigg & punters wouldn't bet if she wasn't in, just as with Jnrs when the top Jnr or a few from the top move out of Jnrs people still bet on the races. I would more be thinking, that if she moved out of amateurs then likely pull the horses out too, so may not get the fields ... I see re 1975. Yeah nowadays guess it is viewed more like, well if he has just 1 horse training, it is a hobby for him, as he would have a full-time employment else were or could be retired and its his side fun hobby.
-
Great idea. We might end up with no-one after all the chopping and changing around of the competition hahaha. Its like organising a party on a keyboard, quite time consuming isn't it lol. At least with our planning in advance we have time to mould it so its perfect come race day π
-
Its some sort of course you have to do, like a 2 day weekend course or maybe 2 2 day weekends. Teaches you to gear up & stuff kind of thing too. Something along those lines. Never head of the term amateur trainer, must be like an old age term, the only terms I have heard are pro trainer & hobby trainer. But what an achievement whatever the term was back in the day when he won π Thought it was fantastic they did a story on her on HRNZ, over-due but better late than never. Agree with you & Gammas Brods, don't think it is a negative, think it as a positive. She is an amazing 'amateur' far too good to be competing at that level. Like with horses and juniors after x amount of wins they move up grades or as with juniors after x amount of time they move up & merge in with the seniors and some go on to do very well. Wigg should also be now or soon merging in with the senior drivers. Also the point re pro trainer also to be taken into consideration to justify a move up the ranks.

Yes saw that re Ally Mae rail unlucky for not getting a run. Would of run a placing otherwise. Isnβt she or wasnβt she galloping pacemaker for that stable. Im sure I recognised her in a recent dual driver race (jockeys/drivers) video @ Camb. For some reason recognise how she runs, kind of like a cute waddle. Not being mean, thats how saw what happened in that race, as was watching out for her π

Gee Taupiri is on fire, far too quick for me. Here is 1 fired back at ya. Which driver had the drive on Copy That as a 2 & 3 y-o to steer him to multiple wins during that time, but come the sires stakes series chose to jump off him to take the drive on Bad to the Bone? Remember being surprised by the decision at the time and thinking that wasn't what I would of chosen but everyones different. Well now maybe that ability that one saw at that time on Bad To the Bone is now showing. On another note, spy that in your above post paper clipping the stake was $20K. Looks like 1978, don't want to get involved in that stake debate as don't have enough knowledge to comment. But whats been presented here is fast forward to 2021 and its being run for $95k. So the higher end races based on that has gone up. But the jury is still out with the lower end.

Was watching the 2018 replays Jewels looking for a fun pre-bonus Jewels questions & stumbled across the 3y-os trotters. Incidentally noticed M Man and Sundees Sun didn't feature in the top 4 & neither did O. B who was in 2 y-o Jewels. Now fast forward approx 2 years and they are at the TOP of the open class ranks. The ranks have changed guard. The 2018 Jewels winners were Winterfell 3 y-o and Enhance Your Calm 2y-o.

Good spotting there R. Heres the latest article from Lincoln Farms how they feel CT will go. A little bit more hesitant after such a close finish to be so confident. Read in the article prior this latest 1 that McKendry thought he was going to get rolled by either B to the B or Steel the Show. But Copy That hung on. So based on that the camp isn't as confident going into this Fri as they were going in last Fri. But I get it because that is exactly how I feel too. But of course from draw etc the one to beat but until you cross the line 1st, you just never know. Hopefully another good race for us to watch, we are spoilt by all this great racing lately π https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/copy-thats-great-constitution-sees-him-odds-on-to-complete-group-one-double-on-friday/

Ok, see your point re incentive, so lets do that π So only those that put in can enter, then it is fair on those that have put in too. Bragging rights too of course for the winner. You may have to be the point counter on the day Gospel π as I will be at the Jewels. Step right up folks, and join our selections game, who will take the Crown? The Jewels BOAY crown 2021 π

Now a sad reaction. Why? You donβt get it. Ludwig - do you realise that Ashburton had the Jewels taken off them which is now at Addington. Have you noticed I have tried to help Cambridge Raceway by trying to create enthusiasm and a build up for the Jewels? Eg a fun competition raising donations and donating myself. Have also created 3 seperate threads on here 1. 2y-os just for fun Jewels 2. Countdown til the Jewels (which interestingly enough a few days later became the name of an article on HRNZ after I posted it on here) 3. Draw for Jewels check your numbers HRNZ are also now onboard which if fantastic with a weekly update. Helping promote and build interest in this years event. ALL GROUP 1 RACES. It should be promoted. A BIG DAY. No I have zero affiliation with Cambridge and no I get nothing from any of these efforts. Just as Gamms said earlier in the thread trying to be positive & look for ways/ideas to encourage input & enthusiasm how I can. And all you are doing is just being negative and seemingly closed minded to simply ideas. Good publicity = more interest = more knowledge of the event = more money/turnover (ideally). Im going to block you soon, because you are starting to really tick me off.
-
Little Ludwig, what do you not understand about this type of concept? Here you go again down voting my posts. Ill explain further, an itinerary could be set out for the family of 4 who could make a weekend of it, over Queens Bday wkd, they could fly from WLG-HLZ Day 1 Sat: Arrival Hamilton airport, pick up rental car from airport, drive to accomodation in Waikato. Drive to Rotorua or Mt Manganui for a day excursion. Day 2 Sun - Attend Harness Jewels Cambridge. Day 3 Mon Visit Hobbiton in morning, fly back to WLG from HLZ in evening. Do you understand how much publicity something like this could get? The praise re Arden/Covid even made your local paper. Think I read it in Herald at the time. https://www.odt.co.nz/star-news/star-national/hollywood-stars-epic-praise-nz-after-moving-down-under
-
Draws out, looks like it could be a repeat with Copy That lead, Steel the Show trail, but who will it be that comes for a look this time to test the likely favourite, Amazing Dream? And what will be the final result? Good to read the track is getting re-surfaced before Fridays meeting after the unfortunate mud fast slushy track.

OMG G, that is so adorable. Go you. Re Gordon-Levitt, its not so far-fetched if he is free that weekend. Check out his latest interview from NZ like to 1 of those popular USA TV shows. He heaped praised on Ardern for Covid response, as many of the Hollywood big shots do. If she is attending with Roberston for e.g and Cambridge slip him or his publicist a PM an invite, stating they would be in VIP area, no photos are allowed in that area for example. Also too even if Ardern wasn't attending, for someone like him being here now and being able to attend an event as such while his country is in lockdown etc, and he chose to come here to leave that specially, he would appreciate it and it would be a NZ experience for him, a potential once in a life-time thing to do while he is here. Food for thought anyway.
-
Wonder if they will be in the Cambridge Jewels VIP room ... On a different but similar not, Cambridge should target the likes of J Gordon-Levitt. A friend of mine, worked with him in LA & she was star stuck even tho she is sister-in-law to someone famous herself. He's in NZ Wellington and apparently really nice down-to-earth guy. Names like this, if could get in attendance to Jewels on the down-low, one would think give much needed positive publicity.

Thinking, as a compromise, how about we do this?, Do a selections comp, that anyone can participate in, however if you donated $10 then you start off the front tapes (3 points in advance) & everyone else competing starts of 10m behind on 0 points. If we do something like select 1 horse per race from race 1 thru to race 7. 3 points for a win, 2 for a 2nd & 1 for a 3rd. That way those that donated get an edge over the rest. But EVERYONE can enter. Then the other comp can be for fun & pre-points can go to that. In other Jewels news, thought HRNZ might of reported this, but they have not yet, so Its All About Faith has been withdrawn, still no word about Stylish M not in training & Karrots has spied, Boys Get Paid reserved area space has moved from being level 1 right-hand side to ground floor right-hand side. VIP's have taken that space level 1 right-hand-side space. Wonder who the VIP's are ... Great idea tho re VIP area only. This is different to the owners/trainers area which also seems to have an allocated area level 1 left-hand side. The plot thickens. Fitzy, didn't hear from you, so have sorted my mate out now & Chief could you pls reply to my latest PM. With trying to organise this comp, need info. Many thanks K
