It is very surprising how so few actually comment about the situation that harness racing is going to find itself in, when the great cash splash 5 years is up? HRNZ has come into all this extra funding coming from the promised funds from Entain for 5 years! They are like a kid who gets this unexpected money and they go hell for leather to spend it all, on anything whether it is for stuff they need or not! No offence intended, however personally believe they are not acting financially fiscally with the cash from Entain. Unfortunately it will hit Harness racing with a big thump when it stops snd the stakes are dramatically reduced! does anyone actually believe that the stakes at the current levels will remain or increase in the years ahead?

Does anyone know for certain where the fixed odds are being set from? Is it NZ or is it the Ozzies setting them? Nowornever is correct they are far more conservative on more horses early on than they used to, The thing is that a lot of it just not add up at all? They show several horses moving in on the fixed win dramatically a d then You go on and check the $ tracker and there is buggerall number of bets or money on that horse! So they are not exactly telling us the truth there! The TAB website for the horses comments is just an absolute waste of time as they have no idea and continually post rubbish! does anyone actually think the TAB are currently in particularly good hands going forward???

Interesting! Note that it states that Entain operates as a Sports and Gaming company! Not sure if it has any interest in horse racing investments around the world but it certainly does not appear to have any expertise with racing? This shouldve been taken into account when McAnulty the NZ Tab signed it away to Entain. Short term gain but not for the future of racing in NZ! Thing is the money being given to stakes currently is just a band aid and this money is being badly spent unfortunately.

Reality is that Entain are currently just playing out the remaining 2 years or so and then they will chop the funding for racing, unless someone from the TAB comes out and advises us otherwise? They are not these White Knights that the harness media splurged upon us, quite the opposite! Yes good funding for stakes, but that will end and then what? At the end of the day if you want to keep punting then that is our choice obviously, but they are effectively falsifying the turnover with the bonus bets and these so called bonus surges! What a load of rubbish, if you can afford to have these horses at these surged odds then just open them at that!!!! These bets that they try and sell us as “very special” are laughable arent they???? MAXIMUM BET $20!!!! TAB are victimising and treating punters differently, therefore they need to be reminded of their ethically wrong business actions!

Would be a place to get rid of unwanted horses but they probably wouldnt achieve great prices. I say bring back Claiming Races or have hirses racing in races where horses csn be claimed !

So they need to let all the punters on for significant amounts so they can cover your wins! They are just riding out the 5 year guarantee and then all hell will break loose! will need a new hobby.

that is what they want, the small investing punters that bet on every race. Thing is they are not attracting enough new ones, snd should be encouraging their existing lyal customer base, rather than trying to lose them! Reality is that it is a flawed business plan, but then again they do not care, while they are on the pay roll.

They should treat all punters equally just like you are meant to in all parts of life. Not all punters are allowed to bet Top 4!

Most of the bets they showed as big bets on Friday night were very poor bets! If this is what the ones allowed more on than others bet on, then the TAB is going to do very well! This is why I say the NZ TAB does not not treat punters ethically equally and is what is going to be their downfall. They should be all treated equally as they are supposed to be s gambling agency, but they are not prepared to take the GAMBLE!!!!

The truth of the matter is that they are not big bets! Not sure who is running the ship now? I know they have this Ben from Betcha representing the TAB in NZ I believe, however is it NZ or Ozzie Bookies setting the odds??

Unfortunately you are correct Galah. Would be good to buy some of these nicely performed mares and put them in foal and sell off their progeny, but you would only do it for fun rather than a profit! It is just too expensive to breed and race horses nowadays as there are also far less people looking to buy at the yearling sales now. Reality is that stake money is at its highest it is going to be currently and will be hesvily reduced by the time you have bred a yearling for sale. I congratulate those that are still heavily breeding horses to race as we certainly need them despite there not being much money in it. I read the other day that something like 40% of breeders are getting out of it, so there are going to be some nice mares available to be picked up cheap in the future. Lets hope there will be enough bred to enable the industry to continue.

Not that Imam a big fan of the drone for racing at all, however last night well done. Previous weeks the drone they had down the back straight at Addington was awful, with shadows and very hard to see the horses. This week common sense prevailed and they had it in operation from the side rather than over the top of the horses, so you could actuslly see the horses and numbers! If they want to persist with the drone they need to keep it where it was last night. Well done.

The minimum you are allowed to net on a win bet is $2K not maximum.

See thats where it is hypocritical Mikey! You say they try to get every cent when their actions are quite the opposite! They have punters who wish to punt and yet they want to stop them? They are targeting the small time mug punters to help them out at the mo. The fact that they consider a $1k bet to be a big bet is quite astounding in this day and age surely. Yes there are plenty of people who bet on sports and that is where the TAB mskes the money and is why Entain bribed The NZ TAB and racing industry with this money shell out for 5 years! At the end of the 5 years racing will suffer significantly in many ways. Happy to be very wrong but it does appear to be what will happen by many of the decisions being made. Nothing being done for infrastructure or future to protect racing with this cash splash! It is very surprising that we have not heard anything from the big players in the industry about this?

Just had a count up on the TAB web site and was wondering whether we could have more meetings to bet on? Only 47 different meetings today, but bit quieter tomorrow Sunday only 43! Seriously how many punters in NZ actually do wager on races that they actually have no idea where it is or any form?? If you do then I suggest you are not betting to make money but are more a gambling addict? Maybe wrong but why both to offload on a horse or dog when you have no idea of what you are betting on? Does anyone on BOAY do this?

Yes was a good start. the frontline was standing still, the 10metre ones were moving slightly and were on the frontline horses straight away. But shows you it can be done. Not sure what was happening with Pinseeker?

Nothing wrong with putting $2k on a harness horse, but the bets that they have put up as big bets are very poorly picked! You can not make money medium term betting on these shorties to WIN! Thing is it is you can make money on harness racing but not betting like these punters are tonight! lol The thing is I am not sure why they are saying these are big bets as they just are not! If they consider 1 or 2k is large in this day and age, racing is in major trouble! What I suggest is the TAB actually allow all punters on for reasonable amounts and turnover will increase significantly! Flawed business plan coming from the TAB if they want the business to survive.

I can see why they let some people away with putting on amounts more than others! Why would anyone put on $2k @ 1.35 on fugitive with the Telfer horse drawn 1? Just pure gambling and not worth the risk! TAB are the winners with these types of punters as there is no way anyone betting like they are for the bets socalled large bet alert, can be a long term winner! Purely trying to buy money and it wont work if you are a serious punter.

Things are pretty dire for racing if they believe that $1000 on a horse @ $2.25 is a big bet! Another bet alerted to us as a big bet $2000 at $1.50 so they make a massive $1000? Are they really Serious that they think punters putting on one or two thousand on hotshots are BIG BETS???? NO WONDER Brodie struggles to get money on when they think paying out $1k extra on a $2k bet is a worrying big bet? I say pathetic if this is what the TAB says is big bets ffs! $1120 @ $1.80 on the dogs now has just been alerted to us! Surely they are taking the piss?

Sometimes there is just too much racing! when you at times have small non winners races, there is an issue. Yes, get rid of all Mile races, just crazy if you are looking for wagering! Programmers that include these mile races are doing racing absolutely no good, they need to wipe them. Not sure the North Island need or deserve extra racing as they dont have the necessary number of horses and they continue to lose money!

All you can do is win as they say and that is what Market Place is doing! Controversial it may be, but I reckon Got The Chocolates has gone much bigger races in running second behind Market Place the last 2 starts at Addington! If the 2 had swapped running positions the last 2 weeks Got The Chocolates wouldve won both races easily enough. Got The Chocolates runs have been massive sitting parked outside Market Place and still finishing very close! Market Place has more quick speed at this stage but Got The Chocolstes is every bit as brave if not more so!

One of the most stupidest things Entain brought in was the removal of the place odds on the Trackside presentation. They have only the win odds tote and fixed and yet many of these horses have no show of winning? People are at the pubs here and in Oz and in front of the TV, if they had the place divs up then many more would have a bet and The TracksidecPresenters used to mention the place odds, but now arent able to. They really havent got the best people making decisions that are beneficial unless someone is prepared to come on and justify their decisions? Na, wouldnt think they care too much.
