Lol, firstly well past your bedtime and I have heard you need beauty sleep, or you can not function the next day? Of course I watch Sky channel 85, and everyone should and they will learn not to be controlled like they have been for the last 6 months!

The beauty of this site, Bit Of A Yarn, is that Chief allows us to express our opinions. Geez if everyone agreed with each other on everything, then it would be very boring indeed! Some dont always agree with Brodie, even though what I write I always believe, even though every now and again there could be a bit of tongue in cheek!

Mikie, firstly and foremost, I want harness racing to be great again! It can only be great again if right decisions are made and mostly they come from the top! Dont personally know Edward Rennell and I am sure he had good meaning when the ill thought out decisions were made! It appears that Mr Rennell was in charge at HRNZ for approx. 21 years which is a very long time for any executive in this day and age, Did he do a great job, I wont comment too much on that however what I do know is that unfortunately harness racing has gone backwards significantly in that time without doubt! You can say that there is a Board that makes the decisions, however the CEO does have a major influence on all decisions and ultimately takes responsibility for what is decided! What I also know is that Mr Rennell was responsible for rushing thru the whip rule that has now been amended, clearly showing that the rule was ill thought out and plainly stupid. The current rule in regards to enquiries Is mostly very flawed as well and needs amendment but probably wont be, as it involves work rather than common sense. This was also brought in during Mr Rennells tenure as CEO! As for business success of Mr Rennell prior to HRNZ, it does not appear that impressive by being an auditor for a number of years and working for a local authority before that!! Nothing personal at all Mikie, and we all probably have differing opinions as to business success, but sure as we need to get rid of Ardern, we need a successful businessman at the helm of HRNZ going forward!!! As for posturing, if that is what I am doing then I am unaware of it! What I am doing though is expressing an opinion and whatever happens going forward is up to the powers that be! May the best candidate for the position be appointed, and not just because they are mates with someone in a suit!!,

Brodster, stating the way it is, And always on the money, since forever!!!!
-
Posturing, that is a new one on me! Edward Rennell was in charge of HRNZ was he not and so his opinion carried most weight, I wouldve thought? It is well known what Mr Rennells’s opinion was on use of the whip in harness racing, as he expressed it on TV more than once! The whip rule was brought in without sufficient thought and approval from the people that it was affecting!!!! The fact is Mikie, that the rule was brought in, also the ridiculous enquirie rules under Mr Rennells watch! The fact that the whip rule has been amended now clearly shows that it was ill thought out!! Mikie, you clearly know Mr Rennell personally, and I am sure he is a nice bloke, but can Harness Racing really be continued to be run by people who have not had success in business?

Greg needs to front a TV show that has things that is going to keep any viewers interested! With respect it is very boring most of the times as it ks the same format week in and week out! People would tune in if there were previews rather than reviews and items of interest and topics to discuss! The AllStars on each and every week is just a turnoff for most people! A suggestion would be instead of talking to Purdon and Rasmussen take the cameras out to the AllStars stables and show us why they are so much better than anyone else! The show could be made to be very good I am sure?
-
The ridiculous whip rule was a rule that Mr Rennell made off his own back, without consensus! It was his view and that is what he ran with!!!! The rule has finally been changed after showing what an ill thought out rule it was! Were the rulesin regards to enquiries brought out during Mr Rennells tenure?
-
Happy, I watched it as well, took me about 6 minutes! Same as previously, and with respect, there was nothing of interest to Brodie whatsoever! Does anyone out there watch it religiously? Does anyone really care about reviewing races already run and hearing Purdon talking about horses that have won? Is anyone really interested in what the fixed odds are for the big races on Cup Day 2 months out?? Bearing in mind why would anyone be punting into races when there are horses paying $2.50, why would you bother?? Good to see Greg O’Connor putting an effort to have the Box Seat on Trackside, and personally think that Greg is aN asset to harness racing! However, the show needs a makeover or is itjust a race review show and do we really need that?
-
Barlow? Spicer? It just shouldnt be someone already involved, as I doubt any of them has the necessary skills !
-
That would be going backwards i wouldve thought? Rennell made decisions that were not very well thought out!! If they are paying what They were paying, then there would be several people around that would have to be interested! We need someone with business sense and proven success, and they dont even need to have harness industry experience! The way things are with racing in NZ due to the many very poor decisions by previous suits, has put harness into a dire situation and lightweight executives once again, is just not going to cut the mustard!!
-
Mikie, is it WP? Winnie? He is going to be out of a job by xmas!
-
I can tell you now, I have been talking to JB, and Justin Bieber is not at all interested in applying!! Joe Biden is far too old and senile and he is probably a bit busy to apply as well
-
Fair enough Mikie. I just hope for harness racing sake that whoever applies is up to the tasks ahead, as we are well and truly over people who are not in it for right reasons!!! HRNz would be far better off headhunting the right person and pay accordingly rather than have these lightweights on big money! The current Person is a lightweight it seems and seems to have been put in the position with out any leadership success, unless someone can advise us otherwise? Harness racing is at a crossroads at the moment and if they appoint someone who has not got the fire in the belly and can not negotiate then we can see the harness racing industry fall away even more!
-
Mikie, so is your person that you think has all these qualities requited for the CEO of Hrnz, Mr Peter Ydgren? If so, why do you think he is so qualified, when I doubt many would have even heard of him? What is his claim to fame that gives you confidence? Clearly he is some relation To Nick Ydgren!
-
Not sure how a couple of people think that a Peter Ydgren is a shoe in to get the CEO job for HRNZ? Can someone please enlighten us all on how Mr Ydgren has got the necessary requirements as detailed in The job vacancy ad?
-
I bet most people would not have a clue who this Peter Ydgren is!!!!!
-
Who on earth is Peter Ydgren?? Clearly I am not in the right circles!!!!!
-
U lost the plot Ranga! If the TAB is not accepting bets whether it be tote or fixed they are not getting as much turnover! Believe it or not people that bet fixed odds will actually have more fixed odds bets as they win therefore bloody turnover! You are being a dickhead again!
-
U lost the plot Ranga! If the TAB is not accepting bets whether it be tote ir fixed they are nit getting as much turnover! Believe it or not oeople that bet fixed odds will actually have more fixed odds bets as they win therefore bloody tutnovrr! You are bring a dickhead again!
-
What are you on Ranga? How is fixed odds irrelevant turnover? Tote betting is so yesterday!
-
Mikie, so Nick Ydgren or whatever the spelling is, has experience in leading an organisation thru a period of change? Is he an excellent communicator? Has he a track record of leading high performing teams?? Has he got strategic leadership and commercial qualities??? Wouldnt think he has any of the requirements unless you know differently??
-
FFS Ranga, you know damn well that people are not restricted on the tote, and I do nkt bet on the tote, so you are talking rubbish once again!!!! The TAB is declining some punters bets, so of course it is restricting turnover on fixed odds turnover!!!!!!!
-
Wouldnt have a dogs show! The criteria required does not match at all!!!!
-
Ranga, geez you are an antagonistic sod!!! What part is it that I am telling lies????? So you are saying that with the TAB restricting people from betting does not reduce turnover??? If you have something to say, then damn well say it and stop with the vague BS!!!
