  1. I heard from a couple of very good sources that when they hiked the training daily rate up dramatically, the owners also got a letter first! So I would say that the letter came first once again, which wont go down too well with the loyal AllStar owners!!!!! I am sure Cullen may have learnt a few things Chief, but is he as clever as Purdon and Co? We all know that there is more to winning just about every major race in NZ than having a good eye! Time will tell wont it? Good on them for taking time off and I am sure most owners and trainers will be thinking this as well!
  2. Obviously communication is not that flash with the AllStars? Fancy just sending out a letter first rather than talking to the owners, after all the money the owners have spent! I think it is a great idea to lease the stables to Hayden Cullen, very positive for racing! Will be interesting to see if the domination continues out of the stables, my thoughts are NO! Great news for owners outside of the AllStars
  3. Restricted?
  4. Must have a look then Happy
  5. I have tipped one out a while ago now though.
  6. Who watches the Box Seat? Never heard it once on trackside when Addington was on? Anyway hope they had a great day.
  7. Sugar n Spice was the same a couple,of,months ago and was not a late scratching! They have opened up a can of worms now!
  8. Mikie, did you see it advertised somewhere as never once heard it mentioned on Trackside! Didnt even hear updates during the day !
  9. Think I know what has the worst record of not ever paying a divvie!

Would be interesting to know if you anyone actually takes much notice of his picks? Always makes you wonder how he is allowed to have a tipster phone line and tip for Trackside? Why would Trackside want him tipping out winners so that punters can beat the TAB Bookies? Personally never backed anything he has thrown out as they are always very short!
  11. Happy, nothing wrong with going on and on about a topic. If you continue to do it, there is more likelihood that things will change! HRNZ and NZ TAB etc. need to be continually made aware of the error of their ways! Stupid whip rule changed New starter at Addington Next, all harness restricted punters to have limits raised hopefully by the nee CEO going into bat for harness.
  12. The Dominion start was interesting and I believe Ricky passed the test. Yes It was delayed a bit when a horse fell over but Ricky was nkt happy with the way they were not in a line! When they were ready the second time many of the horses went on the charge at the tape with a run up and were wanting a flier, just like in the NZ Cup the other day! Ricky did not let them go and made them more or less stop before he let them go. First day as the new starter for the Met, a very good start and promising indeed!

At least Marc Cookson isnt interviewing the winning drivers. Far better!
  14. Not sure why John stayed in the one barrier, as there was very little chance of it trotting from there, going on previous history!
  15. I was not aware that there was a Punting Competition again this year! Obviously it was advertised somewhere or they wouldnt have any teams! Does anyone know where it was advertised as the last race was the first time I had heard of it this year? Were there any heats or is it just a free for all?
  16. Longowner, as you know I am not a great fan of the NZ Cup nowadays as we all know what stable is going to win. The standing start over many years for the Cup has been pretty average and experienced punters know that it is going to be poor. The trainers and drivers just accepted it every year and it has just built to a crescendo and BOAY posters have continually pointed out the starters poor performance. Onwards and upwards from here now hopefully!
  17. Dont worry about Mr Lamb, he will be fine and has a thick skin, as has been proven by not standing down, and needing the DCM! Most that have been in the Police force can handle a bit of stick! I hope Mr Lamb doesnt now become vindictive towards harness drivers, as I would say that the drivers as a collective group, will not tolerate this!
  18. Extremely hard fields to pick and look harder than Cup Day. Can not see anything at all that looks like value and worth the gamble. Hopefully turnover will hold up but the fact that the Kiwi Punters Championship wasnt held this year will affect it quite a lot.
  19. Far too long! Personally believe that if someone is not competent in a job then they need replacing! As I have said several times that it is nothing personal but Mr Lamb made far too many cockups and no one in officialdom had the balls to sack him! Ricky Donnelly had been trained up but Mr Lamb wouldnt step aside. If harness racing could not provide a competent starter then there should only be mobile starts! No pressure whatsoever on Ricky Donnelly in the future but It must be a major improvement. Well done to whoever made the decision however they were under major pressure to appease the many that were not happy.
  20. Mundane if you can not get much in Mikey! Hopefully the new CEO gets on to the NZ TABs case and asks for a better deal for their harness punters!!!
  21. I would say so unless things have changed from a few years ago!
  22. The thing is that it is not as if Mr Lamb is learning the starting job! He is possibly the most experienced starter in the world? And yet he still has not got the hang of it? Enthusiasts would have a better opinion of Mr Lamb if ne stood himself down rather than being asked to retire! It is nothing personal, it is just that he is just not up to the job and with people wagering on racing, we need professionalism!
  23. Each to their own, I would say! Used to back gallopers decades ago but boring as you can not see much of your horse and impossible to follow form!
  24. Good to see that there was some good betting figures and hopefully no cases of the very deadly Covid19 virus from the day! Would be interesting how much of the tote turnover is due to bonus bets! Watched most of the races on Trackside but wouldnt say it was a day for the punters! Friday fields look even harder! Ashburton far better for punting!
  25. Greg, personally dont care who employs him, whether it be HRNZ or the Clubs! Whoever it is needs to look at themselves in the mirror and rectify their stuff up! Doubt they will at the moment but I am sure the nee CEO in the New Year will sort it, as it is just pathetic the way it is! Ricky Donnelly is ready to step up but it seems like Lamb wants to go out all in good time, geez he must have a very thick skin! RIIIIIGHT!!!!! Dont worry there will be another poor start and the drivers will revolt!
