  1. Not National material at all is Mr Allen! Does Mr Allen have any successful claim to fame? Cant believe that anyone would take him on if he continues to leave a trail of destruction
  2. I have some blue and yellow ones available. Just a matter of putting the blue to the top and the yellow to the bottom, and no one will notice that they are both colours. How many are you looking for, I can drop them outside your resthome window!
  3. Greg, the whole Racing industry has been run into the ground by people who haven’t got business expertise, and needs to be rectified! There are still be rushed thru decisions like previously stupid decisions that have been made! I appreciate that people that are running down racing at the TAB are still employed there due to contracts . However, how can you justify the salaries of $500k plus for salaried staff that are doing no more than a glorified clerical position, defies logic.
  4. John Allen, Unbelievable. Will be more Bs, how do these miller’s go from one gravy train Job to another, after continually stuffing up? Do the employers not check on the destruction that they cause before employing them on massive salaries?
  5. Just hope Peter Jensen comes right, as have spoken to him and seemed like a nice bloke. Think he had harness racing best interests at heart, unlike many at The TAB
  6. Yeah Nahhh!!! He was the one that brought in the total dopey whip rule wasn’t he????? If so, not on your Nellie! They need someone that wants to improve Harness Racing not set it back. There are more than enough headwinds for Harness at the no and needs someone with good ideas and drive! Rehash of the same old same old will get harness racing nowhere.
  7. Are you the TAB police? Keep up, Mehe!
  8. Firstly JAKH, I congratulate you for your wit at 85 years of age, well done. Secondly, if you consider yourself a bit of a wizzard on the computer, then once again we’ll done! Thirdly, I am well aware how to find the racing odds on the NZ TAB website however when you go to it, what comes up in your face first? Obscure sports that Racing fans do not need and has cost the racing industry dearly! Certainly not dealing with sleepers at the moment as got plenty stockpiled and communist govt. May be needing them soon. Finally, how far from your room is Ranga’s?
  9. No,it is bat racing from Wuhan and fly racing from Alice Springs! So JAKH, you would be going a bit loopy, still being in lockdown, without any day trips? Point is that these obscure so called sports are being promoted by the TAB before racing!!!!!! Fortunately Brodie has enough willpower and not need to get the adrenaline from betting on who wins bloody gaming events!!! Why didn’t the NZ TAB stick to their knitting by promoting wagering on racing in NZ rather than trying to stop punters from doing this, and spending tens of millions on a so-called betting platform that encourages punters to wager on gaming events? The fact is that due to some of these blatantly stupid decisions made by employees that are paid by the punting public, racing is going to be decimated!!! They have a division in the Nz TAB named Business Intelligence, that needs to be renamed!
  10. Seriously, is it any wonder they are in the crap! You go onto the TAB site and what hits you first? Fixed odds on some obscure GAMING championships that no one would’ve heard of, and yet they want us all to get on them! Table Tennis anyone? Fly Racing from Alice Springs? Bat Racing from Wuhan? You have to be kidding that these dickheads from the TAB allowed tens of millions of dollars for this SHITE! Nothing wrong with sports betting but FFS gaming? Anyone that gambles on some of these less than sports, have got a major gambling problem! How do they think they are promoting racing, when the first thing you see is bloody events from Timbuktu and no one wants!!!! clean them all out and start again!!!
  11. I have never ever been invited to any function and pretty sure that I personally have not been offered a bonus bet, although I did have from Oz accounts! Many time I have gone on about how the NZ TAB business plan was totally flawed and clearly I Was on the money! The interesting thing is that in Head Office they have people employed their with a title of Business Intelligence, and yet they haven’t all been sacked? What I have found is most of the big wigs that get into those positions actually haven’t had a lot of success with their own investing, and yet they are in charge of running companies worth millions of dollars!! Remember watching that a John Allen on TV talking at the AGM last year and shown on TV! I thought what an absolute plonker as he wanked on about this amazing betting platform and other BS! It was just waffle about how much more money it was going to bring in, how many new punters would come on board etc. and clearly the other big wigs allowed him to get away with this and totally stuff racing in NZ, and these clowns are still there?? Then he takes off with his $750k per year salary and probably a golden handshake. The laying off of staff, closing tracks , no promotion etc. is great for reducing costs but it is also going to cause a further reduction in betting and even less to distribute to racing clubs that still exist. The consequences are going to be huge. Interesting times ahead!!!
  12. Just looking at the tote pool for Bathurst trots with 2.0 minutes to go And there is $249 in the win pool. Closed with $511 in the win pool Our grocery bill is more than that per week mostly! I imagine that is for Australasia. Absolutely pathetic, that Oz is racing and NZ was shut down totally!!!
  13. Long owner, you ask how can HRNZ tell trainers how to run their business?? On the same basis as the NZ COALITION GOVERNMENT can tell all business owners how to run their business!!! NZ has started to lose its way, and after the so-called government introduced a law that enables the NZ police to enter your home without a search warrant in one day!!! And this is what people in NZ are willing to accept? Other laws take years to get approved but this lot has taken our rights away inside 24 hours!!!!!!!!!
  14. Great job Chief, with publicising the accounts for all of the clubs, puts things into perspective. What it does show is that Things are very marginal with most of the clubs, although we did know this I think! It clearly is going to come down to how successful the NZ TAB does with attracting punters to offload, that is existing ones and new ones if they can get them. Due to the current financial situation it is not going to be that easy in the next couple of years as many hanker down and try and get back to where they were. Hopefully the TAB will come out with what they are going to do to get the punters active or betting turnover will decline, clubs will not get enough to be paying satisfactory stake money to the reduced no. of horses racing! Addington appears to have invested wisely with their commercial property which is how they will continue to operate. Auckland appears to be more financial than I thought although that was 2018 and there is possibly some accounting that is a bit played around with by the look of it. Hopefully for the sake of harness racing,Auckland sorts it shit out or there is only going to be the one club Racing in NZ, and that being Addington. Bring on the 29th as we all need it!
  15. Problem is that with the finances of the TAB being basically zilch, these clubs were not going to receive a lot in the coming years. Looking at the finances of most of these clubs, yes they have asset value but they weren’t making money of any note and going forward they wouldn’t be. By saying that, it isn’t all about making money more about the fact that they still want to race. If you were personally the owner of the clubs and running it as a business, it would be a no brainer to close the racing down and sell off the land or develop it yourself! Harness racing is clearly at a low point in its history and hopefully it can survive in the future as apart from an enjoyable sport, it provides employment for so many. It is a damn shame that the NZ TAB employed people like John Allen and some other of his assistants that haven’t any business sense and were more concerned about how much they could milk the NZ punters for!!! Defies logic how they could’ve approved such a lemon of a system that is going to be the downfall of racing in NZ, and yet many on here did question the need for it!
  16. Greg, hopefully they only have people there now that don’t make the blatantly stupid decisions that have continued to be made. Reality is now though, there is no money in the pot to be able to make”racing great again” unfortunately. For any new person looking in there is not going to be much to entice them to be involved is there? Unfortunately there is not going to be a living in racing or training horses due to this predicament that these fat cats have put harness in. Anyone with reasonable Intellect can see that stakes are going to be reduced significantly to a point that it just isn’t feasible for many to have a horse in training. Therefore trainers can’t afford to be in the industry, buggerall horses means less punting etc. Hopefully Brodie is not on the money for the sake of harness racing which is something I have enjoyed for a long time.
  17. Greg, so you are saying that there are big wigs there that have had their salaries reduced sufficiently in line with their true value? Greg, why have these CEO’s been on such big salaries when they have offered nothing! Watched the AGM last year when John Allen was on stage wanking on what the is betting platform was going to do for NZ racing and all about how great they were. Without the owners, trainers and punters there wouldn’t be racing obviously, and this plonker was taking $15,000 each and every week for making stupid decisions, and everyone else around him should have to walk the plank without Compensation for backing his decisions. Dean McKenzie has stated that they need increased turnover , but that is not what plonker Allen, plonker Saville were wanting!!!!! They wanted to better the TAB yield, which Brodie has been saying for years was a flawed Business plan! Yes, I know, everyone will be saying that Brodie is always on the money!!
  18. If you saw him in Parliament today, reading from his papers, he is well past his best, if he ever had a best! This career politician has had his nose in the trough for so long it isn’t funny, and even with his Swamy way and arrogance, he couldn’t even win his own seat at the last election!!!! Here he is speaking BS about how great thou art and mocking the National politicians. To be fair he does equate to most of the others in the current government for ability!
  19. Unfortunately talking about what tracks are going to close, who is getting redundancy is really a red herring! I don’t think people in the industry including Winston Peters, realise how dire the situation has become due to mismanagement! If this was a private business it would now be in receivership and I believe that is what will eventually happen in the next year or two. Unless the government is going to continue to throw money at Racing in NZ then yes It will go into receivership or management of some sort. The $70m includes $20m for the artificial tracks which I think is money down the drain now!! Of the $50m there is another $26m or so to go back to their Bank as some FUCKWITS borrowed And now they also have a $17m yearly contingency, not sure whether this is each and every year, if it is they have to get out of this quick smart. Effectively they have roughly $20m left from the $70m and how much of this is going to dissappear in redundancies, probably most! There is no radio coverage, next to no presenters, no form guides apart from online, next to no tracks, but yes we will have wall to wall racing from Oz, Dubai, Japan,Budapest, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Tonga, etc etc. We can bet on our iPads and into a self service machine and no,TAB agencies!!! The stakes are going to be $5k on a very good day as turnover is going to be dwindling! These big wigs who draw these exorbitant salaries have stuffed the racing industry as they have no idea on how to run a successful business, as most have always had their noses in the public troughs!! We will all have to get another interest! Some won’t agree with the Brodster but as you all know, I am always on the money” unfortunately on this occasion!
  20. Greg, these closures are probably needed but Addington will be the only harness track with racing in 5 years time. Racing down in Southland will go into oblivion as well as there won’t be enough owners and trainers racing for sufficient money to make it viable. Not sure what your reason for supporting RITA but geez there have been some blatantly stupid decisions made and blatant selfishness with the taking of massive amounts of salaries being paid to employees well beyond what they should be entitled to. There have been good opportunities over the past decade and yet they have stuffed the industry big time.
  21. The cost cutting will stop for racing in the next couple of years without doubt. The last cost cut will be the big wigs pay, as there won’t be any racing but there will be sports betting. There is no way in hell that harness racing will continue indefinitely as it is on the road to Self destruction with all these cost cutting decisions. I would say that Addington would be able to keep their stakes up a wee bit due to the rent they must be receiving from their commercial ventures they have? Dont believe that owners will want to be racing for $6k stakes next season but that is where I see the likely level is likely to be for many of the races. Auckland, are knackered and won’t recover and next few years I am sure the track will be sold off and put into housing. Depressing but reality!
  22. Business is not going to get back to normal for a long time and many won’t make it. Business was compulsorily locked down for 2 weeks too long unnecessarily and for what good? There hasn’t been any community spread for weeks in the South Island. We have been out and about and called in for a coffee at a well known coffee franchise and have had discussions previously. Straight up, it was no busier than under level3 for them and that wasn’t flash. Still had to pay rent and other costs and stated that it had put them back several years and business is stuffed at the moment and doesn’t think it will pick up until November. No staff laid off as yet and hope wont have to, but unless it improves there will be no business to survive. Racing is totally stuffed in NZ, and I wasn’t aware that there were so many incompetent decisions being made by the big wigs and they should be cleaned out and fall on their swords for stuffing the industry for the many thousands involved. If anyone believes that the 70 odd million is going to be a godsend and assist rac8ng to be strong again, then they are pretty deluded. Roughly$25 million left after paying the Bank and of that $25m, most of it is gone in the first year due to the $17m of running the amazing betting platform!!!! Racing in NZ R.I.P.
