Basil, you are correct that it is not just Mr Allen’s ludicrously high salary that is the cause!!! All of the other overpaid big wigs should also be on their bikes for total incompetence in allowing the TAB to go from a cash rich organization to a bankrupt organization. It is the height of arrogance that these suits can expect to be paid in excess of $10k each and every week and all along knowing that the business was going backwards and eventually expecting a taxpayers bailout!! Without doubt they all should be given the heave ho out of the establishment now as they had plenty of time to go against John Allen if they had high enough morals and business senses! Instead they wanted to protect their own self interests being their massive salaries at the expense of the industry participants who at this stage would appear to be having to find a new career within the next year or so!!!! To allow Allen to waste 40million and then an ongoing $17m per year is just total insanity and has now shown what poor decisions that many of these big wigs are capable of. As for doing a crap job on fixed odds especially on sports betting, I somewhat agree! They were hard on stopping anyone semi successful On fixed odds betting on harness racing by not allowing them on to win! However they were prepared to accept unlimited amounts on sporting events at the expense of the racing industry. They would fly people all over the country and pay employees high salaries for doing next to nothing without the blink of an eye! I knew that the current hierarchy were bloody useless, however I don’t think many knew just how useless!!!

I have been informed by someone that is in the know that Dean McKenzie is on something not much less than what the person that has effed racing in Nz was on!!! If John Allen was on $750k then I would presume that Dean McKenzie would be on in excess of $600k!!!!!!! So There is no point coming on and betting people that Mr McKenzie is not on big money when we are aware it is BIG MONEY, and what have we seen from this BIG MONEY????? Greg, no point having a go at Chief as he is posting some very good points and how you can possibly be in support of what is going on currently is hard to understand!. You clearly are a supporter of Dean McKenzie and I haven’t got anything against him personally either! however, the state that racing is in now, is due to people wearing suits and on huge salaries, that have been plainly useless and have now put racing in NZ into a perilous position! Whether you or I think Dean is the man to pull racing out of the doldrums is irrelevant, we are just waiting to see what he is going to do, to justify a salary nearly as high as The previous useless John Allen!!

We have someone who is on mega dollars who is named Glen Saville who has title of General Manager Betting for the NZ TAB!!!!! Has anyone ever really heard from this fellah from Australia and why he allowed John Allen to eff racing in NZ? Why on earth has this Glen Saville been allowed to still be pillaging the punters in NZ of in excess of $500k each and every year when he clearly is hopeless? Is there anyone that thinks the TAB can afford to have these non performing suits still in charge of the sinking ship? There are surely many others that have been collecting their large salaries and not performing and how they can get away with it for so long without auditors or other people not speaking out is unacceptable!!!
-
Exactly, Chief! Winston donated them in excess of $70m and of that there was not going to be very much left after paying back the loan to the Bank, redundancies and cost cutting measures and the allweather tracks That need to be canned in the meantime! What I can not understand how there are still all these high paid suits still working there that have no business acumen, and have been responsible for so many stupid decisions! They need a total clean out of the deadwood there otherwise yes Racing is dead in NZ! The Paddy Power betting system is effed, no one wants or needs to be betting on Korean Bloody Baseball on a Saturday night!

Yankiwi, to be fair they all pretty piss easy low profile associations that wouldn’t take a lot of time,I wouldn’t have thought! Never heard of Mr Holden before and has been a director of HRNZ since November last year! Has Mr Holden actually done anything of note in any of these companies or associations that he has been a big wig for, does anyone know?

Another INCA case thrown out of Court! Then an RIU raid follows.
Brodie replied to Noodlum's topic in Trotting Chat
Noodlum, exactly my point! There is so much inconsistency in our justice system in NZ! Letting her off without conviction is BS but won’t set any precedent. The George Floyd protest and rioting is another lot of BS!!! They have made him a martyr and yet he was a career criminal not that I condone what the cops did, Who would want to be a cop in Minneapolis, when you can see the type of thugs that live there, that are only wanting to create chaos and pillage and steal and burn buildings? Not much between their ears when all they are doing is shitting in their own neighbourhood! -

Not a lot really, just responded to the posting re the blatantly stupid decision not to convict someone who did a serious offence, just because they wanted to be a vet nurse!!!!!!! -

Yeah and I wanted to be a monk when I was younger, so Would I have got of any crime I committed! I get vilified by the TAB for wanting to wager and yet this girl gets off with no conviction!!!! Judge Neave should be sacked!!! -
Whiplash, yes it is very bad what has happened in very quick time due to very poor decisions made by suits!!! Hang in there if you want Harness to succeed, they need as many as they can get! I will enjoy watching the racing from Addington tonight!
-
Whiplash, you have overstepped the mark majorly, when you state that “the Brodster” is a joke!!! Wash your mouth out and repeat many times, Brodie is not a joke, Brodie is not a joke!, Brodie is “the man”. Brodie is”the man”

Wouldn’t think they would get it, as they were both good presenters! They will be in the also fans Someone Inexperienced and cheap will prob be brought in

Happy, you are normally “on the money” as well, the only times you aren’t, is when you disagree with “ Brodie

Harness can not afford to lose the ones charged. Personally don’t believe that there is too much in the charges, and if there is, what the feck hasn’t it been played out in court after a couple of years. Just a pathetic justice system that has these charges pending so long and the only ones that win out of this is the barristers!! At this rate the court cases will be heard long after harness racing has folded!

Has the LoneStar opened at Alexandra Park does anyone know?
-
Let’s hope things do pick up number wise as there must be many horses that were turned out. We need Auckland harness even though it is pretty boring compared to Addington racing. If they continue to race for buggerall the numbers will stay low
-
JJ, do you think that RITA is on the right track? How much is Dean McKenzie being paid , or is that confidential? How much is Saville and his associates being paid now for doing very little? The new temporary CEO of HRNZ is Peter Holden, who I personally had never heard of! He comes to HRNZ with less than an impressive record from GRNZ and less than great reports from the greyhound participants! What is the point of putting someone in such an important position that has got no track record of success with every organisation he has been with by the look of it! You only have to look at where he has been to see that HRNZ haven’t got anyone of any real ability to lead harness out of the doldrums, unless you know otherwise?
-
Most important thing is that they are racing for $7k in some races!! How are you going to get people to stay racing horses at that level, bearing in mind their costs are much higher than down south! So much for the big stakes that they were going on about a couple of years ago! Auckland Harness Racing is knackered and they would be far better to sell off the track for housing, far better return! They will need to reduce their management team as they are not doing the job!

Is it a female Zebra?

Oz Racing would suit their business module better than here, however It probably will be the States. You could tell Nat had just about had enough when she was interviewed by Dave McCarthy.
-
I would say that the Blood Spinners will not be racing horses in NZ within the next couple of years. Their racing module is not developed for racing for smaller stakes and their owners are getting longer in the tooth and won’t be bothered much longer. They may have a smaller stable here but I would say they would be in Oz or the United States once things settle down. i Believe that yearling sales is going to have many breeders licking their wounds and not breeding again as there is not much money in it with all the costs including exhorbitant stallion fees.
-
I think I would pretty safe to say that the Blood Spinners will not be racing in Nz within the next 2 years. Their Racing module does not warrant racing for small stakes and most of their owners will have their tails between their legs.

Gavel House recently conducted a Weanling sale online which closed last week. It was announced that the sale was astonishing with a 97% sale rate. It was mentioned on Trackside that the sale was a success and might be the way of the future for selling!!! If that sale was a success, I would hate to see a failure or poor sale. There were a few over 120 weanlings and a few yearlings sold. The staggering thing was that the median for the sale was only$4,550!!!!! Sweet Lou is meant to be an up and coming sire and yet there was only a very few that sold for anywhere near his service fee of $12k, in fact some sold for approx. one months training fee. There were many sold for very little. There were a small few that sold for ok money but you would expect that. Point is that why would, you bother breeding when you are not even going to get close to the service fee when you go to sell? Next years yearling sales is going to be the deciding factor for the future whether the horse no,s are going to hold up, bearing in mind stakes are going to be dropping and training costs are still not cheap.

Yes Greg, I do keep coming back when I want something to do! If there was no racing then I wouldn’t be able to bet so it wouldn’t particularly worry me. I lost a lot of interest in trying to beat them when they continually reduced the amount I was able to win, to a point it just wasn’t worth the effort. Was not thewrong way around whatsoever! Stake money is going to be dropped in the new season without doubt as well as punters not offloading as well, and not because of the lower stakes. Many races the place divvies are under $2 and I always wonder why punters are bothering if they can not double there money? I am sure the pools have dropped and that too much is being taken out to enable reasonable place divs are paid! Some races in Oz trots, two horses end up with you getting your money back, so what is the point?
-
Chief, you can do the same while listening to it on your phone and even have the odd glimpse!
-
Agree should be Radio Trackside, but you can watch every race on your computer, iPad or phone which is better than just listening, I would’ve thought?
