Oz Racing would suit their business module better than here, however It probably will be the States. You could tell Nat had just about had enough when she was interviewed by Dave McCarthy.
-
I would say that the Blood Spinners will not be racing horses in NZ within the next couple of years. Their racing module is not developed for racing for smaller stakes and their owners are getting longer in the tooth and won’t be bothered much longer. They may have a smaller stable here but I would say they would be in Oz or the United States once things settle down. i Believe that yearling sales is going to have many breeders licking their wounds and not breeding again as there is not much money in it with all the costs including exhorbitant stallion fees.

I think I would pretty safe to say that the Blood Spinners will not be racing in Nz within the next 2 years. Their Racing module does not warrant racing for small stakes and most of their owners will have their tails between their legs.

Gavel House recently conducted a Weanling sale online which closed last week. It was announced that the sale was astonishing with a 97% sale rate. It was mentioned on Trackside that the sale was a success and might be the way of the future for selling!!! If that sale was a success, I would hate to see a failure or poor sale. There were a few over 120 weanlings and a few yearlings sold. The staggering thing was that the median for the sale was only$4,550!!!!! Sweet Lou is meant to be an up and coming sire and yet there was only a very few that sold for anywhere near his service fee of $12k, in fact some sold for approx. one months training fee. There were many sold for very little. There were a small few that sold for ok money but you would expect that. Point is that why would, you bother breeding when you are not even going to get close to the service fee when you go to sell? Next years yearling sales is going to be the deciding factor for the future whether the horse no,s are going to hold up, bearing in mind stakes are going to be dropping and training costs are still not cheap.

Yes Greg, I do keep coming back when I want something to do! If there was no racing then I wouldn’t be able to bet so it wouldn’t particularly worry me. I lost a lot of interest in trying to beat them when they continually reduced the amount I was able to win, to a point it just wasn’t worth the effort. Was not thewrong way around whatsoever! Stake money is going to be dropped in the new season without doubt as well as punters not offloading as well, and not because of the lower stakes. Many races the place divvies are under $2 and I always wonder why punters are bothering if they can not double there money? I am sure the pools have dropped and that too much is being taken out to enable reasonable place divs are paid! Some races in Oz trots, two horses end up with you getting your money back, so what is the point?
-
Chief, you can do the same while listening to it on your phone and even have the odd glimpse!
-
Agree should be Radio Trackside, but you can watch every race on your computer, iPad or phone which is better than just listening, I would’ve thought?
-
So Brodie is on the money as usual Greg! All about control isn’t it? What I can say is that if the NZ TAB doesn’t encourage wagering on racing, then it will not last anymore than 5 years! I can assure you that punters are not interested in wagering on bloody table tennis or gaming ! i have noticed that the tote divs have just got so pathetic that why anyone would bother defies logic!! not going to argue about this as let’s just see what happens over the next 6 months, but my thoughts are that harness stake money is going to drop, wagering is going to drop and there are going to be several owners and trainers getting out of racing or going to Oz! As for something else to do Greg, I certainly don’t need to punt on harness racing just as many others don’t!
-
Ranga, why would I want the TAB to know who collected? I want cash, and I am not a money launderer!!!!
-
I believe so many punters will not bother punting if they have to use self service machines, How do you collect cash from winning bets??????? Most of the pub tabs never ever have enough cash on hand!!!! Unfortunately racing turnover is going to plummet.
-
So why hasn’t Winnie done his homework, if he is handing out mega millions? You wouldn’t thought he would’ve checked the financial viability before hand8ng over the money!
-
Didn’t know that you had asked me? Brodie always knows the day of the week, as Brodie is always on the money, you know that ! Is it Friday or Sunday?
-
Bloke, don’t care who appointed Hughes or John Allen, why does that matter? What matters surely is that racing is stuffed now and there does not appear to be any way of getting out of the shite. Harness appointing Mr Holden as temporary CEO or whatever is also a worry as from his resume of past management roles, does not inspire much confidence unfortunately.
-
Johnny AlLen thought he had struck the jackpot too when he paid Paddy Power mega millions for a effed up betting platform that has effed racing! Unfortunately racing in Nz seems to want to employ people in their executive roles that haven’t really got the clues financially.
-
Booby, you disappoint me with some of your comments! Not sure what area of NZ you live in, but can assure you that in most places in NZ it has never ever been easier to afford to service a mortgage and therefore own your own home. It is cheaper to own a home than renting and those that continue to moan about housing affordability need to get alongside people that have been successful and find out how to do it. Most boomers are wealthy? No they aren’t!!, You only need to see how many are in rest homes and the country are paying for their keep! There is this jealousy thing from people that would be classed as the have nots, towards the haves!!! There is a way for these “have nots” to become a “have” and the first thing is to stop being jealous and the second is to get off your butt and do things to improve your financial position. I appreciate that this over reaction by the government to this Covid19 wouldn’t have helped a lot of people, but rest assured that most boomers that are wealthy have done it off their own backs!!!

Harness must be considering themselves very lucky to get Mr Holden. Hopefully he will have plenty of ideas and get harness back up to where it used to be! Going by what Mr Holden has been an executive of, I certainly wouldn’t be that optimistic, and I am always on the money! None of the companies or associations Mr Holden has been involved with were hardly cutting edge and Breadcraft????? We can just wait with baited breath!
-
He missed out he enjoys helping out the community spending his large salary, whether he does anything useful or not! Values based??? WTF? What has Mr Holden done in all of his paid roles? Time will tell but they will need supper man or woman to get harness out of it!
-
Yep, Paid roles only, so in other words no idea in how to run a business successfully? NOt worth worrying about I suppose, will be useless and move on to other fields.

If these all weather tracks were so good, why hasn’t Riccarton for example been putting money away to make one? If they haven’t got the money then what makes them think that the taxpayer should pay for it and it is money well spent! interesting times ahead!
-
Don’t think the AllStars will be around too much longer at Addington, in the scheme of things Chief! Racing for $5k is not conducive to their racing module where one win at Addington will cover one months training bill! The AllStars owners won’t be doing that and I would say that they will vote with their feet, and Mark and Nat will set up stables where the weather is better and stake money is better! The way things are there is no way in hell that they will be able to race for $7,500 at Addington, the only way they can at the moment is due to the commercial out the back!
-
Why have we resorted to getting someone from the dogs? What expertise has Holden got? Did Holden get the boot from the greyhounds or is it just another one pissing in someone’s pocket and nose in the trough?
-
Allweather tracks are not the answer that Nzracing needs to get out of the shite. How much more wagering is there going to, be done just because they are on an all weather track? How many Riccarton meetings have been abandoned due to weather that makes it now financially viable? Gallops are boring as hell, so not sure why I am posting on here anyway!!
-
Missing the Blood Spinning!
-
To be fair, we should be expecting someone that isn’t going to be much cop for harness racing! What is this Phil Holden’s claim to fame does anyone know? He is going to have to be pretty good to get harness out of the shite, I would be wagering on Holden not be the saviour and he will not last long, if Craig Roberts thinks he is hopeless!!!!!!

“Go Hard Go Early” wee bit rude for this time of night I would’ve thought? Do I really want to support the ones that have effed racing for so many? Yes I like one tomorrow and probably have a go, but should I feel guilty when Ai get a collect? Personally speaking, Brodie has been treated Very poorly by the TAB over the past few years and it is now up to them to turn things around! Hopefully I am wrong, but I dont believe that they have the right people in the top jobs, and they don’t always tell the truth or honest! Betting vouchers are getting a bit worn so I will have to offload because they may not have any cash!
