Love watching the Cromwell trots and they are probably quite a progressive club considering that they only have the one harness meeting a year! I note that all the maiden races are worth $10k which is good! However, question why race winners are racing for lesser stakes in several of the races, including one for as little as $7k? Roxburgh the other day, the amateurs raced for a pittance being $6k!!!!!! yes I appreciate we need to attract maidens to race but surely there are more than enough maidens around, but what incentive is there to race horses when race winners are racing for $6k and $7k?. Personally believe that race winners should be racing for at least what non winners are racing for and you can see why our horses are being sold overseas in big numbers! Anyway, hope everyone had a good New Year and if you are still punting, then have a prosperous successful year,

Yes does put things into perspective! Ricky is a great driver and an even better bloke. Didnt look flash on TV and a big thanks to the people responsible for saving him. All the very best to Ricky and family
-
Blossom, apparently it is that the AllStars are far more professional! That is it, it just must be!!
-
The only case Ranga, is that you are a Head Case! Happy New Year!
-
Greg, clubs have run races with a handful of starters for good stake money! This will not continue as it is not economically viable!!!!!!!!!! That is it!!!!!!
-
The upside now is that I have got far more time to enjoy life!
-
Firstly Greg, I believe that most owners in NZ would be wanting the big race stakes being paid out to far more owners than the select ones that are currently receiving them that are with the AllStars stable!!!!!!! Secondly, of course I am a National voter as this coalition government is absolutely damaging to the country. Finally, the clubs can not afford to be running races in NZ that have only have half a dozen or so starters! There is a major shortage of horses getting thru the grades as they are being sold by their owners as Racing has become so unaffordable with costs rising and stakes having gone backwards in many cases. You can put any spin you damn well want to Greg, but the Auckland Cup used to be a prestigious race many years ago, but nowadays it is but a yawnfest!!
-
Exactly Greg, the AllStars owners are only interested in themselves, and they will continue to until harness racing is killed off in NZ! Clubs will eventually not be prepared to program and run races that have only AllStars horses lining up for big stakes as it is not economical!!
-
Was the Box Seat on tonight? No one has knocked the performances of the AllStars stables performances of their horses whatsoever as far as I am aware. There has been questions asked as to how on earth is one stable so dominant year after year, and how can their horses do things that no other stable in NZ can do???? Anyone with some intellect should be able to realise that this continued dominance of all the big stakes races and all the money going to the same owners will kill the harness sport!

Errors of my ways? Thru to the keeper with that one! What errors Ranga?
-
You what?? Big brother could be watching you Ranga!

Yes Happy, I have had some Pretty good days there over past years, but it has just become so difficult getting enough on to make it worth my while and opening odds are generally well under. Yes I still pick quite a few placegetters still and I do still watch, but overall I don’t actually miss the wagering as I just got totally sick of having to try and beat the TAB Bookies and being treated differently to other punters! To the ones that think it is possible to do things to beat the Bookies if you are a winning punter, I say you have never been in my position and you are full of it!!!!! Not going to disclose what my best days have been but let’s just say it was fun while it lasted but at the end of the day the TAB have stopped me from punting but then again the Bookies still need to be working for a living!!
-
Of course Freda, always gets a great Xmas crowd for the social outing but they aren’t sitting in the grandstand. Have you been in the grandstand there Freda?
-
Havent been to Motukarara for a wee while but it was always overly endowed with bird shit and leaking spouting
-
Galah, you beat me to it, well done. I was about to point that out to punters tomorrow to be very wary of that fact lol. If it does trot all the way in front, then it would win you would think with the 35m start over the better trotters. However you would think that it is a major risk to do this! Blair is obviously very loyal to Michael House as that Bee Bees Lass used to be an absolute niller when the previous trainer had it and Forbury form can be a bit suspect!
-
Yes Greg O’Connor is a very good Trackside presenter. JJ Flash was reacting to posts on the gallops forum at around 3 pm today, while Greg was presenting at the Mot, so no JJ Flash is not Greg O’Connor.
-
I don’t believe that JJ Flash is Greg O’Connor. JJ has posted when Greg is presenting at the races, so I very much doubt it could be him.
-
It was a statement saying that you would be nuts to be backing The horse with the trainer/driver on. It will win races when a decent drivers sits in the cart, like Gavin Smith, who has driven for Ford many times.
-
Brodster all day! The TAB aren’t going to be employing someone who continues to tip out winners are they? Brodie also didn’t back horses in every race, far more astute than that
-
Blink n Bones at $3.70 fixed to win? It can trot a bit and can win but the driver would stop Xmas!,
-
Happy, yes the cell phone coverage is totally pathetic. You would wonder how they are allowed to actually be able to race without having reception for cell phones there? It is blatantly dangerous that people can not contact people at a race course all day! The internet coverage ispathetic as well and I do know several people that don’t bother going due to this!, You would think they could find a paddock out that way That could house a cell tower?
-
You are totally correct Greg, I don’t have to watch it and probably won’t! It will be replayed many times over on Trackside however so I will no doubt see it! It,is not a moan it is just stating the obvious, people are over this domination by the one stable in NZ. There are going to be less and less higher class races as owners are going to keep selling overseas as they know racing a good horse is not going to pay off in NZ. Whether I punt or not at the moment is irrelevant I just care about the current owners and trainers.who are struggling to survive.
-
Why bother to run the race? Borefest and they will run first four at worst! Good for racing, yeah Nah!
-
They may as well just give the AllStars the first four placing stake money! Yawn!

Opened all my presents and sat down to relax! What would I like for 2020 to happen for harness racing? Firstly we need to get rid of the current whip rule that is just a DOG!! I see John Hay just got fined $200 for using the whip 12 times, that’s right 12 times!! He should be serving time for using the whip 12 bloody times! Shock horror! He miscalculated the no. Of times. How on earth is a driver meant to be able to count the hits while he is driving a horse and with everything going around him?? Harness NZ you need to admit you effed up and change the rule NOW!!! Secondly, NZ TAB before you lose the remainder of your loyal punters, you need to change your ways and encourage punters to offload, rather than trying to get rid of them! You won’t because you run a monopoly in NZ and you are only concerned about Looking after your own salaries and not about racing in NZ at all! You want overseas racing cos it costs nothing and sports betting cos you have more control don’t you? Anyway time to help get the lunch ready and the wife has told me to get off, it is Xmas Day lol! Merry Xmas everyone
