Spatchcock, You clearly have ties to Woodlands . So what you are saying is that Woodlands are prepared to breed and sell horses knowing that they are going to lose money on them? Maybe a far better idea would be for them to drop the Service Fees on their stallions so that there could be more foals on the ground? Breeding horses to sell nowadays is a hell of a risk I appreciate and if they are prepared to breed them to lose money, it is telling us something about the state of the industry currently! To sell horses for $2,500, basically a months training costs, seems like there is a major problem here?? Spatchcock, would you consider it to be a successful sale for Woodlands when close to half of their horses are sold for $4k or less???

Bruce negus obviously thought they were good value as he purchased 7 weanlings for,an outlay of 22,500 so averaged not much over $3k per horse! Woodlands need to be more selective in the future as to what they breed for this sale, surely

They had 19 or 20 weanlings that sold for $4k or less and they say it was a great success?? How on earth can selling a weanling for 3k be successful??????? Sales costs, rearing costs etc and you are down the gurgler big time! Alabar had 13 sell for $4k or less! How can that be a successful sale, seriously?

Just had a look st the sales results for Woodlands Stud, the biggest vendor,I believe? Looking at the sales figures, you would have to question why they bother surely? There were 48 sold and of those 29 sold for less than $10k! The majority of those were 3 or 4k! Yes some did sell for up to $50k but there were only a few that actually wouldve returned a profit. Yes I appreciate that they probably stand the sire there so buggerall cost but there are all the other expenses in the rearing of them and sales costs etc. On a commercial basis there own breeding to sell weanlings was generally a total flop!!

With the mortgage interest dropping so low to not much over 2%, there was a great opportunity to purchase property, whether it be a first home or otherwise These low interest rates was due to ill thought out policy from a so called government that is so far out if its depth it is not funny. Harness punters have had severe restrictions placed on them since not long after fixed odds came in. They should be advertising that they only welcome punting on harness racing from punters that are not interested in winning and only do it for the fun? Seriously, the NZ TAB have performed very poorly over a long period of time and that is why Entain has been able to buy into it for a bargain price. I can see it ending very badly for racing in this country, however you would expect that as everything that Labour has touched has been disastrous! McAnulty wont be too worried, he will be well gone!

Galah, according to the clowns in power at the moment, the poor are not getting poorer, as they reckon child poverty has dropped, but we all know that is selective use of figures. As Chief says there is a capital gains tax by stealth, it is the Brightline Test that National started at 2 years and the Commie Party now has it at 10 years. Most investors are not buying at the moment as it is not viable to buy and rent out as they are all negatively geared and then the 10 year brightline is in play. Far more money now in buying right, improving and flipping as you might as well pay the tax now than in 9 years time. A Capital Gains tax is just an ENVY TAX, and needs to be applied to owner Occupied houses as well as businesses, etc. or it is totally unfair. All a Capital Gains Tax does is puts up the price of houses!!!!!! When has a tax ever dropped the price of anything???? NEVER!!!! What I will guarantee though is that the LABOUR policies that they have adopted to kill landlords will backfire majorly and tenants rents are going to be greatly increased. They need to go up by 25 to 30% to make it semi viable at the moment depending on your amount of debt. Brodie is on the money!

The meddling in the housing market by these incompetents, is having dire consequences for so many. People who have saved for years to buy a home to better themselves have now lost everything they have saved, due to drop in values of their homes in many areas in New Zealand. This is due to Labour incompetence!!! In the mean time the people who do nothing of benefit to NZ still have their housing provided by and paid for by the NZ taxpayer. I can tell you now that people who provide rentals to tenant’s deserve to be rewarded as it is not as easy as you might think! Labour meddling has made it harder for anyone to borrow money for anything but then they dont give a rats, as there is not one successful person financially in that Labour caucus!!

Galah, we need private landlords now more than ever, as the governments should not be involved in housing! They have always been the worst landlords due to many factors! Tenants that have issues are nit going to be taken on by landlord’s as it is impossible to get rid of them! Landlords that have been under renting their properties are going to have to put the rents up massively to try and recover part of the increased costs they are having to meet. Tubby Robertson just has no idea of financial matters whatsoever and is a PLONKER, stating that interest paid on a rental shouldnt be tax deductible as it is a tax loophole!! So if the interest shouldnt be claimed as a taxable deduction how come all other expenses like rates etc. can be claimed? There wouldnt be one accountant in Australasia that thinks that interest paid on a rental property shouldnt be claimed as a legitimate business expense!!! National/Act will overturn that and the Brightline 10 year capital Gain BS as well as so many other ill thought out policies! This bunch of totally unqualified bunch of losers should never ever have control of NEW ZEALAND ever again!

Do not know Jason Teaz personally, only thru Trackside commentating. I do know he did a great job commentating at Forbury which would’ve been very difficult for him seem he lived in the North Island! Not sure why he no longer gets to commentate but it does appear he got shafted! He is a passionate enthusiast and I can tell he is very frustrated just like many others with many poor decisions being made to the detriment of harness racing! As for the comments maybe they could be classed as not that professional but who on earth really gets offended by being called a wanker or something close to that? The Big Lebowski has grown many legs in the last few months! Yes he was vey unlucky tonight and went every bit as good as any of them which totally surprised me. As I say who wouldve thought he would be competitive in the Auckland Cup a month ago??

Who wouldve ever thought that The Big Lebowski would ever be racing, Self Assured, Copy That and Akuta lol ? The Big Lebowski who comes from Southland and was a tough but not overly talented down south horse is tomorrow night racing against the best horses in The country in the Auckland cup! it is now trained by Ray Green who won with it at its only start in Auckland a d had won well previous 2 starts down south but was beating average horses! Could this be a rags to riches story??

Michael Guerin is all for this Entain deal, but said that half the comments at McAnulty’s presentation from the public was negative, and everyone should be seeing this as a big positive for harness racing! I am sure it will be to start with for a few years as far as stake money goes. Is it going to be enough to attract new owners to the industry as the older existing owners go to a pasture? I dont believe for one moment that Entain is here to help out harness racing in NZ! They have got their hands on the betting monopoly in NZ and Sports is what they want and they wont give a rats if harness in NZ is destroyed! Yes Michael Guerin, total negativity at its highest, but reality! Let us just see if they allow NZ punters to wager the amounts they wish to seem they are this massive corporate betting monstrosity that has come in and impressed McAnulty and co.!!!! If they adopt the same rules that their betting agencies they own in australia is anything to go on, we are in trouble!

When I was restricted by the NZ TAB, I was told to open up accounts in Oz! Bit of a rigmarole to do this, but did open a few, Sportsbet, Ladbrokes Australia and Centrebet. Ladbrokes Oz let me wager for a couple of months and then stopped taking my bets. Centrebet and Sportsbet werent quite as bad, eventually restrictions so it wasnt worth the time and effort! They are pretty gutless these Bookies, and are just not prepared to let anyone with ability BEAT THEM!!!!!!

I do hope you are right Robalan! This Entain outfit are not in it to help NZ Racing! They are pretty ruthless from what I have read, however I will wait and see! So you reckon that they will let punters on for what they want? Hole they do, but wont be holding my breath as Entain owns Ladbrokes Australia and they shut me down! I believe that harness racing will be ok for a few years if they get bigger payouts from the TAB but ultimately it will eventually fold as Entain dont want harness racing as the money for them is SPORTS BETTING and now they will control this! To be fair it is the NZ TAB fault that it has come to this due to some shocking policy decisions being made unfortunately!
