FortunatelyI have blocked his posts as he never has anything whatsoever of any benefit to say! Brodie will post what he thinks, whether O’brien agrees with it or not! The problem we have had in NZ over the past few years is citizens of NZ believing the BS that has come out of our current incompetent lying government! Do I think i know everything? I have an opinion on everything and how does that make Brodie wrong? People have the right to an opinion unless they want to be continually controlled as they have been over the past few years!

Think he is getting mixed up with raging Chief!
-
O’ Brien, I am a rager and not a raver! Geez it is good not being able to read his posts!!! I thought you had given up caring?
-
Lol, “on the money” too much for the Darkside anyway Chief! Do I care what they think? Nah! Brodie keeping it real and telling it the way it is! BOAY, a far more interesting and enjoyable read without the ravers!!!!

You are correct Mickey. In this day and age you have to be professional and give great customer service to retain customers in any business! The TAB is lucky that it has a monopoly on racing wagering, however their performance is not great in trying to retain customers! They do do an excellent job in trying to deter customers. You are correct no punter actually needs to offload, however racing can not afford to keep losing and not attracting new customers. The paid employees from the NZ TAB do not seem to care as long as they retain their salaries.
-
Lol you are correct Amateur races are a nightmare and think best I leave alone. To be fair Had a few goes after Xmas and this was the first and only one that I haven’t got a collect on.
-
It didnt go much at Omakau, and didnt go much in a maiden trial recently either. Not much when Andrew Stewart had it either. It did have a good run today but on what it had shown up to today there is no way it couldve won today even though the field was weak. Something going on here when the Bookies opened at only $3! Thank Christ they only race on that track once a year!!!!
-
What a shocking track to bet on is that Roxburgh. Only fit for trials! How on earth can an unplaced maiden in 12 starts that went average 2 days ago beat race winners? It couldn’t even win a maiden trial . It is great for a holiday venue but as for worth betting on it is a shocker! Yes I had an investment in that race which did miss due to a poor drive but we should all know by now that amateur racing should not be tote betting! Never again will I have a go on that saucer track.

How on earth would the Bookies open a 12 start all unplaced maiden as favourite in the amateur race at Roxburgh on Wednesday, opened at $3! Went only fair in a maiden race at Omakau on Monday after having an economical run. Now trained by Cheree Wigg,, Previously by Andrew Stewart, and has not shown that much ability so far!! Has drawn 1 against race winners including an out of form 7 race winner Change Around! Does seem very odd but there have been many unusual bits of odds settings over the holiday, but this has suited me down to the ground. It is not a strong amateur race but I can not see this horse winning on what it has done so far and to be opened at $3 is very strange. There was a horse that was opened over what it should have been and I think it has a massive chance of victory.

What Davis is saying is that fixed odds could. E brought out earlier than they currently are! They bring out gallops odds earlier than harness generally. Yes we do better than Ozzie, but they need to be enticing punters to get on early so it will Increase turnover and that is what they need!

Personally think that Trackside has potentially been the major reason for the huge drop off of oncourse patronage! It is so easy just to watch on TV now, you bet to watch the preview, and reviews of the race from the comfort of your lounge. Drink you own drinks without paying bar prices and do what you want between races! There is buggerall atmosphere oncourse now due to the low attendance and js going to be very hard to entice people back oncourse. They were going to just have the self service terminals going without the operators to save costs, so why bother going???? The $1k socalled Anti Money Laundering Bill BS, has also been a major negative for racing and needs to be DONE AWAY WITH!!!!!!!

Lol Harness Racing Unhinged is about the only bit of harness promotion that is occurring at the moment! Mr Unhinged, Nigel Armstrong started it off his own back, and I do not believe gets the accolades he should get. I would have thought there should be far more harness promotion coming out of the promotions division and relying on Nigel to keep doing this as an enthusiast is unfair on Nigel Armstrong! It must be very time consuming and even though he probably enjoys doing it, he should in my opinion be given some compensation of some sort! The ones employed by HRNZ are financially rewarded and do not appear to be doing a lot in many cases! Apart from the time and costs to drive to meetings away from Christchurch to do the interviews it also must not allow him much opportunity to punt, which to my mind must be frustrating. I am sure Harness Racing Unhinged is appreciated by many enthusiasts in NEW ZEALAND.

Did not know that Galah. If that is the case then she is a welcome addition to the Canterbury training and amateur driving ranks. Writing on the wall for Auckland as I am sure trainers like Ray Green will be giving it away in the next year or two. There just is not any new ones coming into the industry up there, and stakes are far too high for what we are getting!
-
To be fair it was a weak trotters race, but that is what some of the punters like! The harness racing over the past few days has presented some great opportunities to make good money. Not hard to make $ this time of year on harness.
-
Yes Winx would have scared off some opponents but there were always enough racing her and the races she ran in always had a massive stake, so running second or third was always well worth lining up. The difference is that harness racing can not afford to be running races with good stakes when betting is low, and therefore a loss making race! Things are looking very dire for racing in the North Island in the future. I note it is so bad that Cheree Wigg has brought a team down from Auckland to race in the Central!
-
I don’t see Michaels’s posts but to be fair I do believe he knows that Brodie is always on the money, and tries to disagree for the hell of it !
-
Right plan if they had done their homework!
-
Yes would be great if they did get the harness odds out earlier, as the gallops meetings are often out days before a meeting! Gallops does get preferential treatment! They probably worry that if they have them out 2 days before, then they may miss out on punters not betting on the meeting the day before? But they need to be encouraging punters to get on!
-
Gamma, you are generally very positive towards harness racing and that is always 👍. However the point we are making is that harness racing in NZ is struggling on many fronts. The reality is that it is just about impossible to attract new punters and owners to get involved which is problematic big time for the future of racing! Yes we need group racing and good stakes to try and retain our tighter class horses. However there is no logic or financial reason as I see it to deliberately lose money from the coffers. 4 horses, 50k and basically a certainty unless it gallops is not a positive for a group race unfortunately. Unless we can have positive change occurring due to decisions being made then harness will continue to decline from a once great industry. Oz racing will continue as you have the population and enough horses partly due to the horses being imported from NZ.
-
I agree the odds should be out early but to be fair we get them earlier than what the Ozzies get! There are so many things that can be better than what is currently happening. It is a gambling business and being such, they should take the losses with the wins, and the law of averages they are going to be the major winners! The fact that they do not want to having punters that win is a recipe for disaster for the industry in the future.
-
Lol. Na dont qualify on age or ethnicity basis!
-
$50,000 and 4 starters? Racing in the North has to be in a dire situation when Auckland can only provide the Franklin Cup 4 starters and race for $50k! Copy That surely will win it and doubt too many would be betting against it sinning! It will without doubt not engender enough money on it to make it profitable and you would wonder who decided that they had to run it? Happy New Year to everyone, and if you are out and about tonight, be careful as there will be CHECKPOINTS out there!
-
Na that 2k is for win bets only, nothing else!! Just dont bother on account anymore, Power Plays net $30, so just pointless. One day the NZ TAB will wake up and realise that what they are doing has done major harm to their client base. I do not know a single person who has started wagering on harness racing in the kast decade do you?
-
Never been offered a “Bonus Bet” lol. The Stipes probably left the course heading for home straight after the races. Hard to write a report on the winding roads!
-
They need to be giving the Power Plays and Head to heads and Option No.! Punters want to have a crack but do not want to be restricted to netting $30 on a power play on account, just pointless!! When they announce bets of $200 as a bet worthy of mentioning on Trackside you know they are not allowing punters on for much. One bet last week announced snd obviously worth mentioning by the Bookies was $1k @2.30 ffs!
