There is no integrity now in Harness Racing in NZ! I keep saying that the judiciary for harness is incompetent but seriously what is the point in having an INTEGRITY UNIT??? Problem is we have numerous dickheads that they are training up who are just useless, but that seems to be a prerequisite nowadays! Dont worry it will not get better, harness racing industry is in tatters!!!!!!
-
You only have to scan the current tote pools to see that very few will be offloading! when you have several hundred in tote pools, anyone with an ounce of i telligence shouldve worked out that punters are so off put by the pathetic mile racing! Wake up Auckland!!!!
-
How long does it take for the dickhead who does the programming up there to recognise that mile racing is not what people want to see?? For a club that is in dire straights, you would think that they would program races that are at least semi interesting! Yes I appreciate that they have a lack of people who want to race horses in Auckland but they should at least put on a program that will br popular with the fewer punters that still offload on Auckland harness! The fact that 8 of the 9 races are programmed over the mile has attracted on average under 8 horses per race is certainly telling you something! There is going to be a very poor turnover you would think and for the stake money offered a very disappointing result! Can anyone put a positive spin on this??

Time The Plug Is Pulled On Palmerston North Surely?
Brodie replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
I did say the meeting would be abandoned!! what is this CRANK????? -
The thing is though Forbury, is there going to be enough owners and trainers around to make Forbury viable? Canterbury seems to be the only district that can provide enough horses consistently to run racing all year round!
-
Surely it is high time Manawatu pulled the plug on racing at Palmerston North?? Meeting there tomorrow has 8 races and 65 starters at the moment! Michael House is taking up 26 horses to race the mediocre opposition.. Michael House team misses the boat or he didnt nominate and there are 39 horses over 8 races so 5 per race, so meeting sbandoned! This is not going to improve and surely now is a continuing drain on harness coffers? The turnover is going to be abysmal as well on a Tuesday arvo! Yes there are still some optimists in Auckland as well but this is based on hope rather than economics?!
-
CP, the fact is that if 4500 people kept putting $6 for a place on a horse individually the TAB Bookies would slash the price so it wasnt worth having a crack after not too many bets! The issue for Brodie, and always has been, is that the TAB is our only legal betting facility to bet on harness racing! They put the odds up and entice punters to wager on them! They then somehow are allowed to decide who they accept money from and who they wont take money from!!! They allow me on for pathetically small amounts and yet BGP are allowed to offload as much as they want! I am glad that BGP have cleaned the Bookies up so far this week and hope they continue to do this. Yes I think Boys Get Paid is a great initiative and the ones that run it put a lot of effort in to it! I do not bother much at all nowadays as just not worth the effort. Realised that there is more to life than being treated as a crim/leper by the NZ TAB! Hope things are going well for you, keep up the good work.
-
Fair enough great to see the NZ TAB taking bets and allowing punters to win!! PITY THOUGH that the NZ TAB are selective in who they are prepared to accept $ from!!!!! From where I sit Counter Punch there is a helluva lot of favouritism to some and victimisation to others!! How on earth is this ACCEPTABLE in this day and age of everyone being treated EQUALLY??
-
Basil, totally agree, Brodie not keeping up with the play with harness nowadays, but that is no problem for me. Other projects have taken priority and more profitable. Great that I have other contributors on this Premier Racing Forum to help me out. Hope you are keeping well Basil?

Brodie does not condone cheating whatsoever, as you know always wants FAIRNESS, but that is not what is happening in the world nowadays! Harness racing has progressively become far harder to make it pay financially for owners and trainers!!! Due to this fact I believe that many trainers are feeling to compete with the bigger more successful stables they are making the decision to break the harness racing laws . The microscopic no. Of trainers getting caught are not bad people but are obviously just wanting results for the horses owners and themselves. Without winning races their horse training careers will be over! I reiterate I am not condoning cheating, but there is just so much more pressure on trainers than there used to be, just like in. All other industries. Increased Pressures have been put on most people and business now due to the many bad Government decisions over the past few years.

Nothing has been published yet? Are we allowed to know what Phil Burrows is accused of? Was he potted or was stipes in trees again? Do not think many of them would be agile enough to climb any trees!
-
Plenty of people follow Mikey, but many dont post! This is the Only site where you get the truth, any other site is misinformation!!
-
good luck to the punters today that think they can head them off! Fields too even to seriously offload if I could Gamma. The Head to Heads would be the way to go but need Option No.s. 🤔
-
Tomorrows Cup Day fields are as per normal, almost impossible to wager on! Personally there is nothing I will be offloading on! What I would offload on is the Head to Heads if only they gave them an Option No., The turnover would be increased massively if the NZ Bookies gave these additional markets an option no. So you can wager on them at Agencies or oncourse rather than account, where they make it hardly worth the effort with restrictions! There would be heaps oncourse, and punters who would get excitement out of these additional markets rather than backing win and place! Anyway it is not Rocket Science but then it is more about the social side of things for most oncourse.

Brodster out of Cup Day retirement! Its a numbers game Gamma. Put me down for Team 6, the Williamsons.

The reality of it all is that a blatantly stupid whip rule is of no benefit to harness racing! There was nothing at all wrong with the rule where drivers were charged if the Stipes thought the whip use was excessive. Rennell seemed to be the one that changed the rule due to his personal thoughts where there was absolutely no pressure from SAFE or animal activists! Harness is totally struggling and the judiciary system just does not help things. Watched a video at the weekend where John Dunn stated that probably within 5 years he will be no longer training in NZ. Purdon and co. Will pull the plug well before that time as well! Come on Where is the leadership and fairness from harness officialdom? Drivers should be standing up and be in support of Colin De Fillippi and tell them they have gad enough of this stupid whip rule!
-
They continue to show their total incompetence ! Lightweights with no ability whatsoever, but that see s to be the prerequisite to be a Stipe! There is no one coming thru with the ability either!
-
The Harness Racing Officialdom comprises of a bunch of EFFWITS!!! The whip rule is an absolute ass and needs to be GONE!! FFS what the hell is wrong with HRNZ and Racing Non Integrity????? CJ Ce Fillippi has devoted his life to harness raciNg and has had his ups and downs! One of the nicest blokes in the industry and qualifies a horse for the Cup and this incompetent effwits want to destroy him due to a horrific pathetic rule. The drivers at the cup meeting if they had any BALLS should be in support of Colin De fillippi and tell HRNZ to stick it up their date, we are not driving! Obviously they wont do this because they keep allowing the RIU to get away with BS for many years now! They are incompetent and they continue to employ people who are not up to the job! What I have learnt over the last few years is that many Kiwis are not prepared to stand up for what is right! Most stood by and allowed Ardern and Her useless cohorts to get away with horrific acts against the NZ citizens! The drivers association need to stand up for Colin De fillippi and not allow these Dickheads to continue to make stupid decisions!! where is the leadership from HRNZ, this is just so WRONG! No wonder the industry in NZ is stuffed, get rid of the control freaks that are ruining things!

LongOwner, gone thru to the keeper! What is this about?
-
Yes Blossom Lady up with the best aged mares ever. I remember the great days of harness racing when there were thousands on track on a Saturday night at Addington. People enjoyed the competitive nature of the racing with no stables dominating the card! Owners and trainers had a chance of making racing pay! Cup Day is now about how much the Club can take off people from their grossly overpriced packages! Yes of course they need it to keep racing viable.
-
Lunar Chance?
-
Davis unfortunately the industry is already in trouble. Michael House has kept Palmerston North going for many years and once he stops campaigning up there, it is very hard to see harness being semi viable as there are next to no horses in the area. House also enabled the Junior races to be run albeit with not enough horses for all Juniors to drive, Not convinced that the 2 day meeting actually works, as since it started the fields are watered down significantly. Great for the locals and trainers but for racing not so much! There are only a handful of trainers around now in the South Island that are training sufficiently large enough teams to make training financially viable on its own! With costs involved compared to potentially returns, it just does not add unfortunately.
-
Forbury, we do need Stewards but we need ones that have above average intellect! Unfortunately we on the whole have had a very poor bunch over the past decade. There needs to be accountability for the decisions that they make and with the current laws introduced, they dont seem to give a toss about their decisions or lack there of. The industry is in big trouble and not much of benefit is being done about it! The fields at Kaikoura over the 2 days were on the whole terrible and nothing like what they used to be! Punters are not going to waste their time with 6 horse fields and the dividends today were pathetic in most races. What happened to the Brain Storming that they held??
-
Yes very well done to Sarah O’Reilly for winning her 3rd Junior drivers championship. All you can do is win! We need all the females we have in the industry especially Juniors or a lot of the races would not be run. Personally believe that Carter Dalgety is every bit as good, he did a great job with the horses he drew in the champs!!

Account Service Message - AML Policy Update - aka The Brodster Clause
Brodie replied to Rangatira's topic in Trotting Chat
Crazy idea! You have got absolutely no chance if you arent in the first few in the running! WHY DO THESE CLUBS CONTINUE TO RUN MILE RACING WHEN IT IS JUST A TOTAL TURNOFF FOR PUNTERS? That’s right they do not seem to want to encourage new participants including punters!!! You can not follow form whatsoever and they will say their turnover is good but seriously deluded if they think this is good for harness going forward!
