  1. Race 3 Invercargill. Kiwis are Flying. Beautifully bred, lightly raced and a real chance from out wide. Nothing at Adders. Although Sheriff must show up soon.
  2. Correct, although I have better things to do than lay horses. I restrict myself to my memory "portfolio " horses. Sometimes it's weeks between investments but worth it considering that "if" they are successful they pay double figures mostly.
  3. I stuck that in there as an example of Lay of the Day. Don't back AS horses , havent for a long time, but as you can see there does seem to be a difference in performances at times. Hey Monty won last night at 24,s, group 3 and track record. They sorted his back issue out with the chiropractor, great result. Wooohooo.
  4. One can only give them the benefit of the doubt for so long. if we had been keeping records and stats for this it would make for some interesting reading. It just doesn't add up.
  5. If Lay of the Day had of included Trots I would have put in Ultimate Sniper, and would have cleaned up. Once again cant win when someone is absent.
  6. No but close. If you look hard enough in the background above the saddle cloth you will just see a little figure standing by the rail. Thats me.
  7. There are a lot of speed horses off the front here. If they keep the speed on then it will make it hard for those out the back. Altho having said that My Field Marshall swamped them late in 1.46 plus last year. My pick has to be The Fixer off the draw. We won't be left wondering with TT because any easing in the tempo and he will be off and around them to try for the lead. Think it is a year too early for Poster Boy and Chase Auckland. Our Uncle Sam for a rough place, tough little horse .
  8. Here's hoping.
  9. Yeah Happy. Brilliant horse. Pacing bred with the golden cross of the 40, s back in his pedigree Axworthy /Peter the Great, and the Great Adios as his granddaddy. He could and did beat the pacers of his time and still holds the record for most consecutive wins by a trotter, 24.
  10. Ha, browsing the fields today I came across one of my portfolio horses. Got distracted and forgot about it due to work. Wouldn't yah know it. Clifden Clowers. Damn, hate it when that happens.
  11. I like the way Ashley Locas has stepped up to the bigtime. Fought on really well after breezing on a 1.50 mile.Big future ahead for this horse at his present rate of improvement.
  12. Stella Frost, Manaroa, Leading Light, Tobias, Radiant Globe, Globe Bay , True Averil,(Aust) Mount Eden, Koala Frost, Deep Court, Welcome Advice Been alive to long , this is doing my head in.
  13. Now there was a horse I backed many times. Ultra consistent , a real bread and butter horse. Bachelor Hanover produced some very good horses .
  14. I stand to be corrected. Right Ranga. Been alive to long. Too much to remember.
  15. Yeah had two starts in Aussie in his 4yr old year. Won one of them and I think the other was in the MM. 1985. Nondescript sire but Albatross was his granddaddy.
  16. Yep he could motor that horse and but for injury could have been anything. Great name.
  17. Reminds me of that American Harness import to Aussie, Slug of Gin, great name and another very good horse., and a very good back story to the breed if you research it. His dam by the way was called Jin M Bitters,
  18. Sorry Shu, thought you were referring to the harness horse..
  19. I think that was Knight Pistol. Extremely good horse. We get to vote on our horses names and the majority rules , so it ends up a bit bland (for me anyway). My fav which invoked shades of American racing was a horse by the name of T K Scooter. I think it got sold to America in the end as it only had a few starts here. " Com,in down the stretch and its T K Scootuuurrre hittin the line in 1. 47. and 4. " Lol
  20. That's the real Dream About Me. No excuses the rest. Love em or loath them she,s a very good mare.
  21. Thats the part that wouldn't fit in, as much as you are welcome to your opinion . Not that we condone or welcome "yes" men, we just prefer to get on with it and leave the negativity to others. Apologize if you took that comment to heart bud. Thats life, Im sure you will cope.
  22. You are new on here so exempt Joe. Appreciate your honesty and input. I remain, although a small player in the industry part of a bigger wider bunch of people who share the same passion for horses and success. If we had a Brodie in amongst us , Im sure he wouldn't fit in for long, no matter his reasoning.
  23. Take a bow Chestnut. As an owner and pro active Harness nut I don't give a fat rats arse for the Purdon barn. And I dont mean that in a negative sense as I applaud their success. A quote from a well known movie comes to mind. " You can get busy living, or you can get busy dying ". The Harness scene won't die with the right attitude from those that strive to overcome the seemingly unsurmountable odds stacked againsted them from certain quarters. Harness in NZ has far too much rich History and ingrained character for it to curl up and die. Frankly some on here have very narrow lives. "
  24. See ya at this year's Jewels , Joe , as we take on the AS again, for another year. Oh , and bring some spare rocks with you.?
  25. Why ??. You expecting to die in your mid fifties?. That makes us old buggers look pretty good, mid 70,s and still racing horses. Salt of the earth and without us you,re stuffed.
