  1. Yep he did. And yours truly backed him , as I did with many Globederby line horses. And Hutt Park was a happy hunting ground for many of those horses mentioned above, back in the late sixty's and early seventy's.
  2. I like to be outside near the finish line ,so watch for an airborne bald fella in a black jacket with his arms going like windmills. hehe
  3. As the syndicate and BOAY members will find out , the Globe is not a quiet fellow in these exciting times. I shall be heard shouting above most I hope., and jumping as high as Iraklis. One only passes this way once, make the most of it I say.
  4. Yes , but am fizzing already in expectation of the weekend. cant wait to meet some of our syndicate and some of the BOAY members.
  5. Yes, one could have a bitch drawing no7 with Majestic Man, and Winterfell the ace. BUT, and as our leader pointed out, no horse has won from no 7 in the Trotters section but more importantly no one has won from the ace either. On top of that our horse was kicked in the front leg by one of T Herlihys horses thereby missing a trial. Heres hoping he is alright on the day. Good times
  6. I would have to confer with that sentiment Mumbles. I love watching the show. Apart from the cars they stumble across, the amazing array of memorabilia stashed away in American homes and barns . Fascinating stuff really, and all the more interesting because of peoples inability to let go of what most people would call junk.
  7. No not all. Engine rebuilding I leave to the experts. Have mates in the trade so we swap jobs. A mate is going to rewire it, and I am going to do some work for him, even though I have my Associated Trades electrical ticket. Works well. Have learnt heaps trying different things over the years and being able to weld helps. The thing is with these cars there is a complete absence of electronics , no computers to go bust, only relatively simple electrics. So things are easily fixed.
  8. Thought I would start this to see the reaction, and if any horse enthusiasts are into cars at all. Here is my history with classic American cars. ( If you are into English or other ,thats alright.)As long as its not Holden ? First was a 1934 Ford Victoria (imported),made in the second half of 1934 with the addition of a boot, and original Henry Ford steel. A small fortune but worth it. Original type 58 flat head V8. Second was a 1939 Ford Tudor(standard) imported, full restoration model, it had a beautiful 1942 flathead V8 from a bren gun carrier. Cruise all day long at 70 mile an hour. Third was a 1966 Buick Riviera, 425cu Nail head V8. Very quick off the mark with heaps of torque (a hall mark of nail heads) Forth was a red 1968 Buick Electra Convertible, 430 cu V8, electric everything. Buick's were incredible. My last (so far) a 1952 De Soto Diplomat Custom. Made in USA, assembled in Belgium as right hand drive and exported to England ,Sth Africa and Australia. It arrived here as a swap for wool from the NZ Wool Board as one needed overseas funds for cars and most Chrysler's ( Plymouth, De Soto ,Dodge)ended up on farms. In the process of pimping the De Soto. Rebuilding the flat head 6, installing new manifold with twin carbs and pipes provided from a connection in the States who raced Flat Head sixes at Bonneville . Complete rewire and dashboard Gauges. Lowered two inches, with new low profile smoothies. Will sand down and repaint pastel green. Any other car nuts out there. Regards Globe.
  9. I am going to work out a time to meet on the day with Double R , for all those BOAY members. Probably after R2 in front of the presentation platform. We will post something closer to the time.
  10. No, Jewels WILL come down to draw.
  11. Filthy 4th. Bugger.
  12. R6 Carlo Gambino. 11,s and 3,s FF, . As long as he gets away quicker than usual should give a good account.
  13. She has run 1.52 and change over the mile and that was running second. A decent draw at Cambridge and running like she did last night will have the rest chasing a ghost, although having said that it will be normal transmission as she is in the Purdon barn.
  14. Nice to take some back from the boys.hehe
  15. Well we are venturing there to stick it right up the AS team. Given a decent draw I think we can win despite recent results. No one is invincible
  16. Any of you guys going to be up at the Jewels? .
  17. Not me Happy. Only knew one dead cert and it got beaten.
  18. Alta Orlando, 3.56.1 two miles. Going great guns and maturing into a good horse at 6 yrs old. That NZ cup time written all over it. My best bet tonight. Show Gait. Got out late last start and powered home, small field no traffic problems. Due
  19. Bit biased but Monaro Mia a good horse in the making. I think both horses are heading for bigger things, and Sex on Fire has a big motor so you are probably right in your observation.
  20. The wheels are wobbling a bit on the Warriors wagon. Great start but 3 losses from the last 5 starts, and big capitulations to boot in two of them.
  21. Ok guys, we have all seen the light. Let's not stoop to their level, concentrate on what is happening on here.
  22. Thanks Robert. Speed on the dams side, could be interesting.
  23. Any one know the dam?. Tavistock crosses well with Zabeel mares, but at 8 grand I doubt it with this one.
  24. We all kinda need some place to meet at some time during the day. Might suggest a time and meeting place out front somewhere.
  25. I will be there, along with lots of our syndicate members. Also think Double R( Robert) and hopefully Iraklis. Could be more.
