Unfortunately no further progress with Hrnz , it's actually worse than that but I won't go into that because I would still like to work with them . I just don't think they understand Harness racing has so much going for it yet they promote nothing. We have a huge history as illustrated by the three wise men promotion by methven in the weekend some great horse's yip horse's and a very approachable work force who we don't promote, sorry I could go on but I'd only get more frustrated.

Methven 11 races 1,143,028 although may increase slightly Banks Peninsula 10 races 1,077,959 As far as the industry is concerned turnover is important for our percentage the TAB will slice up the pie but on a Harness only measure gbr is equally important and I don't have those comparisons yet.

Your not wrong Aquaman but unfortunately we're not in the 80's

It actually rained all week so I'll give you that , ever tried to mow a wet lawn, but as far as betting went you are in the minority, on course was just under 50,000 which comparatively outstanding, haven't got off course yet but again I'm picking it will be good. I'll up the date you when I find out

Outstanding post Newmarket I look forward to you putting up your real name up and then how about addressing our track committee with your concerns or are you just a poor loser who had a bad day on the punt. Cheers Nigel Armstrong

As of course you know stakes are set by HRNZ not the clubs, but I'm sure you get my point . Finding sponsors for over 500 race's isn't that easy but I'm sure the club is open to any suggestions.
-
Doubt you may , but Westview travelled to Omakau and Nelson for no other reason than supporting two club presidents and committees that do outstanding jobs, financially made no sense , holiday sure travelled to Omakau and back In a day. Maybe I care to much for this industry.

13 hours ago, Doomed said: Do you think they got more people on-course than an equivalent Sunday at Addington might have? Interesting that they managed to get genuine sponsors for every race over the two days, more than Addington could have been bothered doing. A couple of $20,000 races on the second day as well. Very positive Doomed, why not celebrate a job well done by Blenheim rather than bag Addington. I'm picking one cup day sponsorship would be more money than 11 at Blenheim. What should also be mentioned is all the owners that floated their horse's over the holiday period to keep regions with very few local horse populations going at considerable cost.

Personally I think supply and demand is the biggest driver of the breeding industry, over the last few years Stonewall have been very active in the market which in turn has driven the prices up and shortened the supply. Westview will be breeding a few in the coming seasons, will a grand make any difference on a betters service fee of 22,500 plus all the other cost which come with it , certainly not. Over a million into stakes targeting maiden wins would be a bigger incentive to me and keep in mind over 50% of horse's have breeders in their ownership.

Thank you , I have one very good sponsor in IRT, I didn't go looking for one but Richard Cole liked what I'm doing and approach me, I have been trying to work out what to do with the money as I Certainly don't want to get paid that's not what I'm about I just want to see harness racing promoted better. I am aware not everyone is on Facebook so I have recently taken Richard's money and added a bit to it and are currently getting a website designed , hopefully in a few weeks time it will be up and running.

Time The Plug Is Pulled On Palmerston North Surely?
Unhinged replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
The minimum for a non race winner is 10,000 ,the clubs can use their discretion for the remainder of the races but must pay back anything not spent on stakes, clubs are currently under funded to hold a race meeting and maintain there properties. If you get time take a look at their yearly results . Under the current funding model clubs are not rewarded on turnover or meeting attendance. -

The clubs don't fund stakes they are bulk funded per meeting by HRNZ -
Certainly is,i do volunteer alot of time to Addington and love every minute of it, the club have been very good giving me access to pretty much everything I want and do indeed acknowledge me and Unhinged .

I like playing into the first four home place bets and was looking at Wy Fi After Mark said they changed his shoeing and thought the difference between running in three compared to four was very slight, yip they got me it was 1.90

I can't think of the track but there is one up north that takes the cake, personally don't bet on North Island grass track harness the crossings make it impossible to have any confidence.
-
I don't know what the answer is ,on Friday I'll ask John Dunn his opinion but I do know it effected one of his drives. For the average punter probably not the end of the world but how much turnover is lost to people being put off. I Certainly don't put large bets on at mot unless the horse has good course form.
-
Yip here we go again, just got off the phone to I'd say mid level punter, puts about 1,000 to 2,000 thru the tote on average. He had six bets at Motukarara on Sunday for a first ,third , fourth and three that didn't make the crossing. He accepts he is talking thru his wallet but how does our industry expect to attract serious punters with substandard tracks. Should there be a warning when placing a bet at some of our tracks?

If the million or more they are spending on breeding bonuses to help out the studs went into stakes for your first win, like extra 10,000 per race how many of that 47% be discarded.

Don't hold your breath with that one

Your not wrong, the story around the connections is just as good, a written story on HRNZ website will never tell the story of the emotion around his win yesterday. If you want that go to Harness racing unhinged on Facebook. Shame yet again they chose not to link any of my interviews .
