  1. I've had so few wins this weekend I needed to get in a cheap one ...LOL
  2. Winx Black Caviar
  3. Rumour has it there may be a shortage of experienced jocks at Te Rapa this saturday on account of the first day Riccarton...anyone know who's going where?
  4. how about this one ... so and so "gets the chocolates"
  5. Sligo is by Pins 9 starts still a maiden but 2nd at first 4 starts and never further back than 5th
  6. Hmmm..no info on NZ trainer ...but she won first 3 starts in NZ, then 2nd at New Year meeting Ellerslie 2016, won again at Ruakaka later in 2016 before being sent to Oz. Older brother Tullamore won a Brisbane Cup and ran 3rd behind Southern Speed, Green Moon in 2011 Caulfiild Cup.
  7. Yes, fantastic win...coulda won a few more big ones with an ounce of luck... I recall her winning a few here before going over to Waller but cant remember who had her here...CD trainer? Sharrock? think she ran in an Easter and was close...why don't I just look it up?OK I will.
  8. i suspect Thomas is over there as her personal advisor.
  9. Having seen that replay, thanks Hesi ...Extra Brut put up an astonishing performance. Last early, widest of all in a big field on the corner and produced a terrific turn of foot to get to the front ...almost too early. Strong and brave, alright, at the end of a truly run 2500m. No doubt they'll be eyeing up Sydney next autumn and maybe the Cup next year. I note he's by Domesday, sire of another very genuine stayer wh won yesterday, Five to Midnight.
  10. "Thank you (Brendan) as the last one's coming up .." GWS's stock-standard phrase
  11. yes that mute button is worth its weight in gold...no Peter Early there, no Cameron Shaw, no Mark Clay-dough, no MumbleBumble Sweeney, just the commentary when the race begins...thank Mr Inventor of Mute Button
  12. I assume Stephen McKee has public liability insurance for such circumstances, but its a different world form when we 'middle-aged people' grew up. I went to Woodville in the mid-1970s during the school holidays to be with my older brother, an apprentice jockey then...at the track one morning at sparrow-fart this bloke asked me to take his racehorse for a quiet canter around the track, reassuring me it was the quietest ,sweetest little mare in town...her name was Denigh... and I was about 4-foot high and 45kg wringing wet. Took one look at the size of that sweet little monster and politely declined. I knew I did not have the strength to pull that horse up if she wanted to go faster than I wanted her to! LOL.
  13. This breaks my heart. Anyone who reads this and doesn't feel compassion for BOTH these people is heartless. My question is: why shouldn't the fine imposed on Stephen McKee go to the victim as well? (I assume the fine goes into the Govt coffers for no good reason).
  14. indeed Shad, he's tough and genuine ...hope you got the cash! I note another Tavistock 7yo (Trinovantes) won the first ..15 winners for the sire since September ...only 1 by a 3yo, and most of them over sprint journeys
  15. yes, but most young, educated emigrants are leaving to make a truckload of cash from high-income economies/occupations so they can bring it back and buy property/raise kids in the land they prefer to do that in....I know a couple of work in IT /Software/Sales and Marketing, Nz citizens doing the UK/USA experience for 3-5 years, and they'll be back when they made more money than they know what to do with and will have the Kiwi climate/lifestyle to enjoy raising their family in ...Lawks!! they might have enuf $$ to own a horse or two...if there's a viable racing industry here in 5 years time.
  16. Just learning the ropes, I guess...better ground, longer straight ?? ...I see she is with Stephen Autridge, so you can't do much better than that for experience and access to both left and right-handed tracks with longer straights than Te Awamutu!
  17. very good debut run, I thought...made ground well...black booker alright! Love that pedigree, esp Nureyev influence. Will be keeoing an eye on that little Rose for sure!
  18. Re: Sunny Rose ...thanks, FTF, for alerting me to her. I am a big fan of Tavistock progeny...this one is a full sister to Derby winner Tavago, who didn't half mind a wet track! My Tricia was the mother of Grosvenor, of course, and this is the Meer Rose family that has produced Empire Rose as well...so maybe Sunny Rose will be better over more ground but certainly worth watching...Oaks material?? Let's watch and find out how she hits the line over 1400m first-up!
  19. also respect Youwantmore..track specialist, inside draw, will like the cut out of the ground..may have to take box trifecta with it and Gobstopper, Admiral, Waipipi Lad ...
  20. Gobstopper is good value if he brings his 'A' game in the Te Awamutu Cup today..and is quite capable of a form reversal. Likes it wet (Slow 8 this morning), and will lead or run handy on that Moonee-Valley-esque track; Danielle aboard and has the pace to overcome wide draw..hopefully the likes of Admiral will leave him alone in front. This is last year's NZ Cup winner, remember ..the query is: have they got him right? FF $8.50 and $2.80
  21. Doh! 'from today's hurdle' should say .."from today's Herald" ...but you BOAYERS woulda worked that out by now..
  22. hanks for posting that link, Hesi... I was about to do just that myself! We started last Friday with zip, nothing, nada, zero, BOAYERS. Current balance $310.00 with $100 promised by VS ( who has instructed CS to hand over the $100 he won in the World Cup comp...lovely boy!!). Even my mushy mustelid mind can add that up to $410.00 so far for Maija. Read the article from today's hurdle and you'll get an insight into what she is dealing with, and especially her determination to walk again...asking for more physio sessions already ..great stuff, positivity and willingness to work to get back what has been cruelly taken from her. So BOAYERS ...WHAT SAY YOU? Please donate to this fund. Open til 14 December, all $$ to Maija directly - and no, I don't know her or the Vance whanau personally. As Rob would say ...CANWEDOOSIT? YES, WE CAN! ASB Bank account for your donations is: 12-3099-0086230-50
  23. quite right, CS ...and the win on Saturday looked "all over" at the 800m, the way she was travelling.. and I don't think Huey even showed her the whip and was easing her down the last few strides ..remarkable.'
  24. Clearly she was also the first equine animal with four legs and a tail to do it...you do have to wonder where they get these pillocks doing commentary
  25. The oppo have had 29 chances to beat her.. not a single horse has done so, at the highest level ..not at Randwick or Rosehill or Flemington or Caulfield or Moonee Valley, good tracks, bad tracks, and everything in between ...good draws, wide draws,c et ...running handy or running back, coming through the field or over the top... Winx has demonstrated not just a WILL TO WIN but a physical ability to win under all conditions, distances (to 2200m) and track conditions. She is the best we will ever see. She has nothing left to prove. I would have loved to have seen her in Dubai or at Royal Ascot or Longchamps ..but fully understand why she hasn't travelled to find the best of the rest. She has trounced those that came Down Under to knock her off her perch. She is the Queen of the Turf, bar none.
