  10. Hello all. I am starting this new thread with the full support and blessing of the site's administrators. Thanks CS and Hesi. I hereby invite all BOAYERS, family and friends to contribute whatever $$ they can to this fundraiser for jockey Maija Vance, who was seriously injured in a race fall earlier this month and faces a long road to recovery. The ASB bank account was established today and will remain open for donations from now until 4pm Friday 14 December. ALL FUNDS RAISED FROM DONATIONS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO MAIJA VANCE THE FOLLOWING WEEK and proof of same will be posted on this site before Christmas Day 2018. I have not set a target - and won't. It's more about doing something as an online community and lovers of racing. We know the risks of race riding are great; some jocks are luckier than others. I am very impressed by media reports of Maija's determination and positivity dealing with this injury. Let's give her a hand up, BOAYERS to make the best recovery she can. ASB Bank account for your donations is: 12-3099-0086230-50 The current balance is $0.00 (but not for long). I am donating $100.00 to kickstart it. Who knows, we might surprise ourselves and put thousands in there by mid-December. I hope so. WEASEL
  11. thanks Jess, appreciated...and I'm still waiting for a mailing address to send you the little Redwood something I brought back for you from Westbury D:
  12. Understood. I'll set an account up in a sensible way. There is always the famous Mustelid Code of Conduct and its motto: Integrity or Death. We are all on our honour here.
  13. juast to be clear..what does 'as above' mean ..I set up the account and advise details on a new thread?
  14. v kind of you, Hesi thanks. If CS does not want the hassle of this I am happy to do it on my own bat, ie set up a bank account and coordinate things. It is a busy time of year for everyone.
  15. Today’s Te Aroha trials have been abandoned due to an issue with the track around the 500m mark.
  16. Good work, gents - I checked the Gofundme 'donate' page and found its in AU $$$ and theres a 15% recommended fee to them. Thieving bawsteds. This project is worth doing for its own sake but I recommend: establish a specific timeframe for donations from BOAY members, family, friends.. be proactive in that time in getting the 'pot' added to. don't tell the Vances anything until the time's up (week before Xmas). Then give the donation to themon behalf of BOAY forum and publicise it (obviously on this forum) via NZ Racing Desk, Informant, Herald, Trackside, whatever. At least BOAY will get some deserved recognition for the initiative, coordinating the project and achievement of funds raised. I stress that the publicity is secondary motivation here; primary one is to HELP MAIJA and family through a very difficult period.
  17. Ok, BOAYERS..I have A Cunning Plan... no, not that kind of a plan! A plan so GOOOD it'll bring out the best in all of us, make us all feel good, and best of all, help someone who needs help.. Instead of tapping in to the other site's link to help Maija Vance through Gofundme, LET'S DO OUR OWN THING AND MAKE A BULK DONATION FROM BOAY members. Surely between us we can make $1k or more ....surely one or other of you guys/girls knows the Vance family.. CS ...what say you? Can we set up a BOAY MAIJA VANCE fund/account administered by BOAY or a reputable, honourable all-round good guy/girl , keep it going til (say) the end of the Riccarton Cup carnival, or Xmas) and give the BOAY FUNDS to the Vance family in December? Tis the season of good racing ... and goodwill... and a chance for BOAY to flex its muscle and DO SOME GOOD IN THE WORLD. I am happy to kick this off by donating $100, once the logistics are sorted.
  18. I think their only chance is to lock her away on the fence somehow, but Bowman is too smart for that and she's drawn out anyway. Agree that a strong tempo from the outset can help them, but she runs such fast sectionals ... mebbe their only chance is for her to miss the jump by 3L and/or Huey to fall off, god forbid! Only two more sleeps!!
  19. 8 horse field ,she's drawn 6, tight turning track...the others won't be giving her any favours ('cept mebbe the stablemate!) I'm asking: what will Hughie do from there? 3rd or 4th with cover...? if he gets posted 3 wide, what chance she will go to the front and control the race, out of all possible trouble, and leave 'em gasping long before the final turn on that saucer of a track? Thoughts, BOAYERS???
  20. In the absence of a swift reply from Tommy TomTom. I predict he will answer as follows: Look for horses that are dropping down in grade (mwahahaha) Horses that are wearing blinkers first time will always beat horses that cant get used to them being on or off or on off If you cant work out the winner in advance call TommyTomTom's private line 0900 4 TOMTOM ...after 7pm Sat nite (Calls cost $10 per minute, forgive the stammering receptionist, she's new and a real doll, apparently ...Princess is her name)
  21. she will kick me all
  22. ..and Kings Will Dream is a boy not a girl! LOL
  23. re Youngstar .. you are right re WIn record but ..carrying a featherweight, has a huge finish on her, and trained by the master.
  24. Homesman too disappointing last start for me to stick with him. Like Cliffsofmoher a lot; Night's Watch should go well. And I've gotta a sneaker for the Japs, too...they know how to do this!
