nonsense. It as nothing to with his background and everything to do with proving or disproving cruelty to animals with or without the motive of assisting a betting operation. Take yer blinkers off and try to keep an open mind.
-
Centaur, it seems to me you are making excuses for DW and Co ... deliberately applying an electric shock to an animal is a lot different from having an electrified fence as a means of keeping a horse safely enclosed. Moreover, IF it is proved that DW and Co used this 'training' method in association with the use of blinkers on a treadmill to prepare a horse for a particular race where a betting plunge was 'on' ...well, the implications are severe, arent they? Apparently three races are being investigated in this respect. We await the trial and the evidence. A shame that this all starts to unfold going into Cox Plate weekend.

you are missing the point, so I will make it again and hope you catch my drift. You posted a snaky remark aimed at Hesi (below). noting that Timon didn't race until the 1970s and Lizzie had visited years earlier in '53... but Hesi was quite reasonable in his guess, since the monarch was indeed on our fair shores during Timon's racing career. Whether or not their paths crossed in the 1970s is irrelevant, his guess was a fair call. Must have been good LSD in those days as he thinks Timon raced in front of the Queen at Ellerslie. Would have been a remarkable feat as the Queen was at Ellerslie in 1953 and Timon raced in the 70s.
-
ATA you are being a tosspot (again) Queen Elizabeth visited NZ three times in the 1970s ...(1970, 1974 and 1977) ...so quite conceivable that she was in Auckland when Timon was racing.
-
agree...BUT the horse is losing/lost confidence by the look of things, we know she has the ability to kick any maiden field...so they need to start again and that starts with a GOOD REST FROM RACING. Someone tell the owners/Rogie LOL ...oh, hang on, she cost a lot at Karaka didn't she?
-
yep, he's the real deal

I agree that most racecallers are bloody good chaps ...but that's not the point...the point is, that they have a job to do to assist the punter/owner/trainer/fans of all the horses they are calling. Stick to the basics and don't get sidetracked with all the fluffy irrelevant nonsense. At Waverley today, a field of about 12 maideners had gone 300m and he'd only managed to call a handful of horses' names ..
-
there's method to that 'madness' ..obvious slow starters are easier to spot and talking about em first gives the caller time to let the quicker mob sort their positions out.

nah mate I know you are super intelligent MM D:

imo ...dropped back from wide draw, impr from 600-300 via lovely rails run and couldnt quicken the last 200, wasnt making ground at all the last 100m. Compare Watch This Space, carried 1kg more, raced handy from inside draw, fin 4th despite a slower last 600m than SM. Conclusion? Honest run by SM, but wide draw/weight combo too tough for her on the day, despite claiming 3kg down to 57kg. 9th of 12.
-
very good behaviour ATA...you didnt answer my question though...re SM's performance at Hastings...

Well the VRC doesn't really need any more people to attend Cup Day, and certainly not a throng of 20-somethings rabid manic vegan virtue-signallers who think the world owes them a living. I've been to many Melbourne Cups and can tell you that unless you've got a reserved table in the dining area of the Hill Stand or wherever, it's a flocking nightmare crush - and headache material long before Cup time. Cop one of Melbourne's bad weather days (Subzero 1992 unforgettable, froze my nuts off in the Hill Stand) and you'll think twice about going again the next year. Derby Day and Oaks Day generally less of a crush, and fine frisky fillies everywhere are a joy to behold.

T Lee certainly didnt have the best of days on Sat ..in one race they'd gone 200m and he hadnt mentioned more than one horse's name, too busy telling us who the frikkin tote/bookie odds were (and stuffed that up)... as for the 'previews' with Sweeney ...embarrassingly light on detail, just compare how they do it in Oz. come on now, T Lee...FOCUS on us mug punters .all we want to know who is where and how they're travellin' with how far to go...forget the sideshows.
-
it would help you help others if you knew a few basics, like whether a horse is a girl or a boy LOL
-
Fair enough about the Grp 1 thing, my bad ... but it was still a case of backing up after lugging a big weight at Ruakaka 7 days earlier....but since you're reading this ATA, please accept my statement of fact that Santa Monica is a girl, not a boy. How did she go, by the way, at Hastings ...unlucky again?

Mustelid Musing #158 Great decision by TayTay. now the spotlight goes back on what is should be on - thoroughbred racing at its very best, and a darn good party on the side(s), with great friends, fun and laughter. Hopefully all the moron lefties (who know sfa about the way throughbreds are treated) will go annoy someone else over the next few weeks. MM

D Johnson 3 7 5 $74,825 54 0 1 Stephen Marsh 5 6 7 $103,000 72 0 14.40 Youd have to say theyre going through a lean time, CC ..but Marsh is still 5th on the trainers' list and Johnson's strike rate is poor but she is going through that difficult period of re-establishing connections with owners/trainers who have had to use other jockeys in her absence (caused by serious injury). Matter of time and patience til it turns around ..amazing what a good couple of Premier days in the Spring/Summer could do. Look at the stats and you'll see they're both running in the money roughly 1 in every 4 starters; doesn't take much to turn that into great stats if the 2nds/3rds become 1sts! And its only mid-September!

Here'a few .. Funstar, Bivouac, Exhilarates, Sebrakate in Oz Sunny Rose, Spring Delight, Kaareraway, Annie's Song in NZ

Mustelid Musing #157 ATA, you are being a dickhead.
-
any nominations from the cognoscenti here for his replacement?
-
Mostly correct, ATA. The common ancestry starts with Meer Rose b. 1942, who was a daughter of Sweet Rose. This is the family that has also produced Empire Rose as well as Grosvenor, Lonhro and Niello.

dare I mention Smedley ...3rd start in three Saturdays..last paid a dividend about 28 starts ago
-
Smedley Clayton Stevenson 11 Gelding - 56 yep, nommed for Ruakaka, of course, in a R65 2100m race ...note his current rating down to 56 ...and 11 is not his barrier draw! If he wins it'd bring the grandstand down (which in itself would be the best thing he could do for Ruakaka).

you get on CS..I wouldn't touch him with a Chinese babrgepole in the CC
