  1. I think your post gives us ample information to ascertain just who is retarded
  2. Good to hear from you Chief, I thought you must have retired
  3. I thought this was a site to chat about Harness Racing. If you guys want to rant about this stuff then you should do it on the appropriate site. It' no wonder that Harness racing enthusiasts have deserted this site
  4. Small did sail close to the wind Galah, but he also produced a lot of horses to win races, most of them favourite, so in many ways he was the punters friend
  5. Also worked for Jack Smolenski
  6. Yes, amazing improvement in only 3 weeks, the horse even looked bigger and bolder. in most previous races showed no gate speed and was pretty much struggling turning for home. First horse the trainer has had at the races
  7. You know I can remember when these debates were about the All Stars stable, I'll bet when the real moneys up, say cup week for example, it will be the All Stars horses winning the big races
  8. I am sure if there is anything untoward occuring it will be discovered. I think it is difficult to regard the death of three horses in similar circumstance and over a short period of time as mere coincidence
  9. Unhinged, i may be wrong on board members fees, but I was reliably informed that on average that $80,000 was the cost for each board member I'm pretty sure my staff cost figures are accurate though, just go to the Staff list on the HRNZ website and count them all, and more advertisements for new staff positions have been advertised lately
  10. 20 years ago when racing was at its height and before the introduction of computer processing HRNZ employed 10 people including the CEO but not including stipendiary stewards and racecourse detectives as they are now part of the racing integrity unit. Now the staff numbers are well over 25 and cimbing rapidly. What do all these people do? With an average salary of say $100,000 that is costing the industry $2,500,000 which is at least $1,500,000 more than it took to run the industry 20 years ago (no adjustment for inflation). In addition the HRNZ board members were volunteers and as such were not paid, now they all get at least $80,000 per annum. There are 8 board members therefore that is a cost of at least $640,000. Add this to the $2,500,000 for extra staff costs and there is an additional minimum amount of over $3million which should be available for stakes. Harness Racing is at it's lowest ebb and yet rather than cutting costs HRNZ are now spending more than ever
  11. In addition Brodie, the new CEO of HRNZ are imposing many new requiements on owners and trainers, such as the code of conduct, the mandatory reporting of all medical procedures on horses and the mandatory notification of what happens to your horse when it is finished racing. To support the imposition of all these tasks he is emplyoying several additional staff members. This is paid for by reducing the amount of funds available for stakes which are unchanged from the levels of twenty years ago. Last one out please turn out the lights
  12. They haven't won a race for quite some time
  13. Completely agree with you about McKendry, I've thought that for years. I've often wondered how he keeps getting good drives
  14. I hope so
  15. Chief, every horse has on owner when they are born. That is the person(s) who is the registered owner of the mare at the time of foaling. Once the horse is sold by the breeder it is the responsibility of the purchaser to register the change of ownership with HRNZ. I have sold yearlings at the National yearling sales run by NZ Bloodstock. It is a requirement of entry into the sale for all vendors to provide a signed change of ownerrship form to NZ Bloodstock. Every yearling that is sold is recorded in the results of the sale which also records its sale price and who it was sold to. HRNZ require all change of ownership forms to be registered within 5 days of purchase, yet I've got horses sold years ago which still appear under my ownership. If HRNZ or the RIU were interested in ensuring their registry was correct and up to date surely they could check the purchasers name in the sales results and if no change of ownership had been registered then the purchaser should have to explain why. If they have no valid reason for not changing the ownership then they should be fined, with fines increasing for repeat offendors. HRNZ have no interest in ensuring the accuracy of their ownership register and that is why people like Kerr get away with what they do. As you have already said
  16. Chief, I know what your suggestions were and I agree that they would help to improve the situation, but I see 2 things wrong with your suggestions 1, HRNZ has shown no inclination to enforce ownership registration timelines, and 2, How are HRNZ to know the ownership of any unraced horse if its ownership has not been declared, this could also apply to horses racing
  17. I think Cam Jones has got a lot of other things to worry about at the moment. Things that would make doping a horse a minor indiscretian
  18. Once again you were on the mark Brodie
  19. The whole of Rolleston is under a flight path. I don't know where you got the title Rasmussen property. Purdon purchased the prpoerty years before Rasmussen came on the scene. Gammalite, I doubt Michael Purdon will ever make it to the heights of his father or brother
  20. Barry still has a lot of loyal owners and is given well bred stock to train. I don't know how long the "Purdon" light will shine, however. Even Mark is in the precess of trying to sub divide his prpoerty and if he is succesful in doing that I think he will pull back his involvement in training
  21. I don't think Barry's that interested these days. Scot Phelan seems to be running the show
  22. Allakasaam was a great mare trained by Colin McLachlan, she got to cup class and was the winner of several country cups. She is closely related to two other great horses, Manaroa and Manawaru which were also trained by Colin McLachlan. Royal Ascot a winner of the Auckland Cup around the same time. He was trained by Felix Newfield and owned by Colin McLachlan.
  23. forbury, you do talk some shit, you're an embarressment to the memory of Forbury Park
  24. Not on this occasion Brodie, you are in fact well off the money
