Some clubs still get bumper crowds...but outside cup week in chch....and auck cup weeks...most other crowds at these main tracks are piss poor! Some clubs do very well with crowd numbers

If they close too many grass tracks....harness is stuffed.

So how do you get new punters involved....well for one, you don't slice through racecourses like they want to. I live in chch....in the past 12 months I have been to these racetracks. Addington once, Riccarton once, Kaikoura 2 days racing, Ashburton twice, Timaru once, Motukarara 3 times, Rangiora once. Now I don't go to the races much like I used to, but I prefer to go to smaller clubs, Add + Ricc does little for me, would rather watch on TV. Another thing to remember, my visit to add + ricc, I was by myself.....all other tracks I went with family or friends.This is how I got involved in the game...but sadly this will be lost. So brodez...people don't wake up in the morning and want to punt....get people to the track with others....have fun....that's how punters are born.

Hardly think BGP are doing anything great...yeah OK, they organise a pissup at the races for youngies....but that's been going on for ages.

By all reports....there are others interested running tab. Look on the bright side, no longer worries on big days that tab systems crap out.....presenters won't have as much time to tip out losers...maybe get more images from Aussie racing on a sat....this is what many want. Blame it all on the oldies that made the rules on racecourses...greedy pricks that want people to join a racing club in return for over priced food + drink and shit service...never appealed to younger people, so never go involved, apart from yearly boozefeast days, where most don't see a horse racing, thanks BGP.

Does sound like him....he mentioned ...BRAINS TRUST!!! That's his fav saying....funny that he his starting so many threads on harness section....I suppose he had to do something to make it look like he's getting the traffic. Always surprises me....he states he had 1000s of members, yet most, apart from his diehard mates....only have 20 or so posts under their name???

Remember that too....looking at all of the horses racing...we have sure been lucky. While I liked hands down....the mares of the 80s really did more than compete with the males, maybe even better. Delightful lady, bonniez chance, armalight, glen moria, hilarious guest, glen moria....be some I have forgotten.....don't think we will ever see as many top class mares competing at once again....

Does this smell good or what...I have to buy it then stick it in fridge and eat with nice salad....I just can't eat hot...think the fat oozing out puts me off....

Agree with you Barry... To be honest....I was ready to join, thought it might get me to the track more often....but I changed my mind when told I was up for extra joining fee.... And yes....members crowd way down on previous visits...

I think they only previewed riccarton as Addington put back a race with fog..

I had a bet on Notabadrooster yesterday....when it went up to win 2 fences out....as I had drunk a few beers by then....I yelled out....The early crows gone up for the rooster!!! Well, did we all laugh when it fell after last jump....seemed to jump it well...just too lazy to put feet out.. The laughing in the members stand went on for ages...

Met at Riccarton yesterday with a few good mates, that was by far the highlight of the day. Initially, I enquired a few weeks back about becoming a member. Now, the $275 fee I thought was rather steep, considering I probably only attend a few times a year not an amazing deal, but if you go far more often, it could be worth it. I was 50/50 on joining, until I also read that there was an initial joining fee of $80? Now why on earth would you charge this initial fee....its crazy. Members room average...food was sandwiches....chips + bites, pasta or venison stew....that was it. Now, as I said, we had great day with mates, we paid the $74 entrance + members between us....and had some good laughs. But the Mrs said this morning, going out for dinner with same mates.....would seem a far better option.

Ain't that for real.....

Maybe kotare going to name the thousands of members we are told are on rc??? If there are thousands, a bit sad that there are more posters on this site than rc. .....Not surprising.....
