  1. What is everyone thinking she will fetch? I have no idea, but for a guess I will say $250k
  2. Can see both sides of this discussion, but I was surprised that JC didn’t just take trail behind MM. As mentioned, horse is not a stayer, more of a sprinter that on that run looks well past its best. As for MM, what a win. Things didn’t go as planned but bolted in, Mystic Max ran home well
  3. Legarto…. far too slow! But yes, a good day NZ. Mark Twain very impressive
  4. Yes Easter Saturday at Addington used to be great, I’m sure all us dudes over 50yrs have good memories. That battle between Basil Dean & Sir Castleton was fantastic, think a record time which was faster than open class pacers, amazing really. Sadly, was there when derby field came down, good and bad memories
  5. Hardly any jockeys for another meeting today, majority of jockeys riding at Riverton look like they should still be at the trials for months, never mind racing. Luckily Addington on today, as well as some great Aus racing and sport. Just as well TAB don’t rely on nz gallops….half the time they get abandoned
  6. Yeah, I think that’s the issue. Don’t think trainers put the time in nowadays with youngsters, years ago it was common for most stables to have youngsters with live in accomodation, so trainers are the issue. I’m not attacking you, but some with more horses do little…
  7. What young jockeys have you had in your stable in the last 10 years?
  8. Nothing, I agree.
  9. Trainers are the problem, uses to be stables that had a heap of youngsters coming through, now most do not support youngsters. Easier to sit on their arse and call a nth island jockey. As per my thread, we are in real trouble with jockeys.
  10. Yes, I agree. But until you sit back and see the calibre of riders 9 years ago, what is the future of NZ racing? Anyone half decent goes to Aussie, then we have an influx of overseas riders that arrive in NZ, which if they arrived 9 years ago would struggle for rides.
  11. Good driver alright, but no Dexter yet. Has every chance of getting good drives also
  12. Well, we will never know because you havnt named anyone. So pretty useless post really…
  13. Wow, nobody has even bothered to comment? So no views, everyone happy with the current crop of jockeys? Come on, this is far more interesting than most posts…
  14. Well come on, let’s be honest. The horse was clearly better than the rest, otherwise it would have been beaten after that run…
  15. The date, Sat 11th April, 2015. Just look who was riding at Riccarton, David Walsh, Rosie Myers, Chris Johnson, Ryan Bishop, Craig Grylls, Lisa Allpress, Mark Du Plesis, Matthew Cameron, Racha Cuneen, Terry Mosely, Kylie Williams, Jacob Lowry, Darryl Bradley, Sam Wynne, Lee Calloway & Gosen Jagoo. And to make matters worse, we also had Wellington and Tauranga racing, and notable jockeys are… Tauranga Leith Innes, Michael Coleman, Cameron Lammas, Reece Jones, Lee Magorrian, Sam Collett, Vinnie Colgan, Grant Cooksley, Trudy Thornton, Mark Hills, Anna Jones & Alyssa Collett. And then there was a few names riding at Wellington. Jonathon Parkes, Kelly Myers, Rory Hutchins, Shannon Doyle, Jonathon Riddell, Michael Mcnabb, Hayden Timsley, Kane Smith & Buddy Lammas. Wow, I know I keep going on about the poor riding skills of the new jockeys we see starting out, but I am amazed to see what jockeys we had riding 9 years ago compared to now. What’s it gonna be like in another 9 years, I shudder to think.
  16. Oh well, looks like only a few weeks until grass racing is over until the spring. Hopefully Lester will come back big, a little flat last few races. As for Style Council, went very well for a few weeks and should have won a race or 2, obviously nag is a bit beaten up now so needs a rest. Pretty hard for trainers to prime a horse for certain races, only the elite can be at the top for a long period….just shows the importance of having the best drivers on your horse, unless of course you just want to place. Bring on springtime grass track racing
  17. Why would you not name the horses you lost ya dough on?
  18. Luckily you’re not a jockey. I know if track is bad some may stay wide in better going with some success, but in most races if your 3 wide your not gonna pay a Div. Have a look at some racing from Riccarton today, yes I know a few senior jockeys ride well, but others only get a ride coz nobody else is available. Far cry from years gone by
  19. Looking at racing nowadays, with the poor standard of new riders starting out I would suggest weight makes little difference. Yeah, so you might get 4 kilo claim, but then you find the chimp 3 wide the trip, or settles last in a sprint home, so weight hardly an issue, just poor riders coming thru the ranks.
  20. Mmmmm, I disagree with Blair driving straight. If that was the case, the trailing horse would have been held up or interfered with, and clearly that didn’t happen. I do agree with Dunn smiling thou…. With a big thanks mate…
  21. What are the rules regarding horses galloping when racing? First race today, Blair’s horse gallops before passing lane. Instead of pulling to the inside of pylons he steered off the fence inconveniencing those racing on the outside? Maybe looking after his mate John Dunn who was behind on the hot fav? Hopefully stewards ask the question….
  22. Looked like it had been struck by lightning the way it stopped….
  23. Not worried about Geo Blocking now😆
  24. Certainly is a front runners bias
