Flagship uberalles
26 pacers and 22 trotters, Ffs is that really the best we can do nowadays.... Shows how far we have gone backwards 80% of the pacers will be totally out of their depth. Still I will be going to a couple of nights out of sentimentality....
Nowornever
Should still be a competitive series with no one standout. Looking forward to it myself.

Brodie
I think they will run 3 heats for the pacers rather than two as 13 around Alexandra Park will be too many for the heats. Divs are going to be pretty tight though!

He did start over here this month (3rd off 50m) and has won 23 from 30 Australian starts last year and this since being exported. Must be unable to trot right handed properly would be my guess. A pity tornado valley didn't make the trip, as far as I'm aware, he never came up to race in Auckland in his 50 or so NZ starts, so I imagine you're right about not him liking going right handed. I backed mclovin in the Dominion handicap after his great 2nd to tough monarch on NZ cup day and was counting my money after he was trailing marcoola on a hot speed, but didn't seem to stay the 2 miles the 2700m should suit him better in the idom final!
Brodie
The surprising thing was the Improvement in both Tornado Valley and Mczlovin after they went to Oz! Both were good consistent trotters in Canterbury without being exceptional and yet they go to Oz and win them in a row! Why did they thrive in Oz iris it just that the Ozzie trotters are just crap? Aussies have a great record of turning around average pacers and trotters from NZ, the form from Australia was certainly franked by tough monarch and mclovin quinella on cup day.

Gidday Brodie from Queensland, well no doubt the ground work is done by the NZ trainers initially. Many trotters improve with age as they gain confidence and practice. And most likely reason is there is many more races/ tracks to choose from and set your horse for over here making life easier and more suitable for your horse. Plus a lot of the Aussie trotters are crap (compared to NZ ones) This century since the great Pride of Petite in the late 90's being USA bred (but out of a great NZ mare) only one single Aussie bred trotter won the Interdominion. That was the Maori's idol man with 'Sumthingaboutmaori'.

Gammalite
Well it seems as the draw gets near that about a third of the runners are 'PURDON' runners. (bigBar or Mark) , a third are the 'AUSSIES', and a third 'THE REST'. One of those groups doesn't look overly strong. Maybe they will put 1/2 of the runners (from each of these 3 groups) , in each of the 2 Heats.
