Chief Stipe
I try to refrain from referring to the "other site" however on this topic I feel I need to. I note that one of the above posts has been copied and posted over there. Well and good so far the internet is a free speaking place! However I do take exception to the continue baiting of posters here by a few "over there." For the record I have followed this thread closely because it always has had the danger of falling into a slanging match and crossing the standards we set for ourselves. Yes there have been some strong views posted but overall the debate has been educated and robust. I would go so far it has been a learning experience for most. Certainly until this thread I had never happened across the ACS treatment and have done some background reading on the theory behind it and feel somewhat more enlightened. If I owned a horse that had soundness issues and that horse was talented I would certainly try it as it appears to have some therapeutic value. Is it performance enhancing? Is it ethical? Is it a good look to be regularly taking 400ml's of blood from a horse and re-injecting it while a horse is in full training? All questions that the industry needs to discuss and debate. I don't want to sound patronising but congrats to ALL posters on this topic. Conspiracy theories abound whether we discuss them online or not. Surely debating them in the manner we have is a healthy option. 2

Reality is that some trainers will always be looking to do best by their owners and that is why they end up paying far larger training bills than the semi amateur. Most people have probably got an opinion on the topic, and it is a grey area whether everything is black or white and by saying that this blood system that is being used by who knows how many, 20or 30 but we don’t know who because it is such a great system, but we won’t say who is using it, is primarily therapeutic is BS! I believe that Winston now that he is currently Prime Minister, needs to form a Working Group, because that is this government thing isn’t it, to determine whether this practice should be allowed to continue. I can tell you that it is the talk of the trainers at the moment and it is not too popular with many, as they know it gives some an advantage.

Talk of the trainers you say yet is advertised so any trainer can do it. Gives an advantage yet any trainer can do it. Expensive, not really $1000 for 40 or so vials works out $25 per vial Come on Brodie and Pete(Hunterthe punter)do more homework.

Must be a few trialing it. By all accounts, you need a very good horse to begin with, many battlers not going to spend that sort of money on their donkeys, unless of course you know it’s going to work, and you can burgle a race somewhere. What about the many horses that battle, change stables, win week after paying a dollar or so??? Makes you wonder

Look I don't want to do personal derogation but I just couldn't figure the claims Philip Quay was making re internet. OK doing advertising but trying to portray himself as some multi national on par with say Micosoft, Amazon etc. bit over the top. OK maybe thats exaggerating but he listed as CEO of his "organization" a chap who after closer inspection was the business mentor for the local polytechnic. Strange. Noodlum
I was ambivalent about this blood business but going by some people's fervent defence of it I'm starting to wonder. Does anyone know what are the rules with regard to a non vet injecting the stuff back into a horse?
