What's Boyz Get pLaid and NZ First got in common?

I'm afraid there's no prizes for this....both perceived as Boys Clubs

The leadership of both 'movements' is ALL Male of course...

But then...NZ First has far greater Female membership....where...

...The Boys Get pLaid movement has 15% Women

Mmm we can only but wonder why

Have a look at this pik from HQ's Stand...it resembles the line up of Newstalk ZB minus the token woman...Kerry Woodham...

...but doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with NZ's current multi cultural society...

Is the Boys Get pLaid 'movement' a thing the Racing Industry should be coverting as it's saviour?

A name that plays on a title of sexual innuendo?

Hell no....time to change your name then Boys....NZ First has disappeared, do you want to be compared to that Boys Club?

Oh watu?  Whatever ATA, the same pic is the same pic is the same pic!

The problem is as soon as you point out the bleedin' obvious...that this Club is a Boyz one with clear inferences of misogyny and sexual boasting...

....and that chant....is something out of an American Frat house where the Boyz have just scored....

Yea Women in racing really really love that chant and want to be part of the 'movement'

Alors....

Im sorry you've led such a sheltered life and EVERTHING needs mansplaining....

1/ Boyz = boys in a club

2/ "get paid" = is a play on the term 'Boys got laid'...no mansplaining required

3/ Boys Get Paid = infers NO women welcome....especially misogonistic when chanted after an adrenalin filled sprint of 1.08...which is about as long as most of those Fratters could last post party...with their hero Opee up

...and that needs NO mansplaining

That's OK Thomas we are not misogynist and we don't mind the odd bit of sexual boasting afterall we allow you to post here!

Maybe if they adopted new rules of wearing tight stone pipe Chinos like Dan the Weatherman and Sav the Sports guy wear...we could see some 'movement'...

..although I doubt it...

Lederhausen might help...and they could do the reverse slap technique for a close up movement...

You've got to forgive this Boys Club though...when it first started.. naming it after a Frat Party...

Young boys are feeling their oats and there's nothing like a group encouraging each other, getting the adrenaline going amid male bonding and bum slapping...

When they started callling it a "movement" and sort help from NZTR and the TAB to give them sweatheart deals...things changed...

The code body simply can't be seen rubber stamping a Boys only group who chants like a Frat Brat...with a name that suggests sexual triumph

Im afraid 'The Movement' needs to change its focus and start growing up like normal boys in short pants

Thats what 'Movements' do...or they die

So what's the beef here? I thought they let the ladies in the movement?

Did you get Black Balled from the BGP Thomarse?

Bugger, missed out on that...sounds exhilarating...

Good old stable initiation that..linvolves creasote with a molasses topping and a couple of thirsty calfs with a strong reflex suck...just born

Of course they need calfs...with the only women available scrubbing spuds in the out houses...out of sight and out of mind

It's a bit like Augusta National Hew....

It was only a few years back the esteemed landed Gentry required caddies to be black andWomen were persona non granted...anything

Just like NZ First nowadays...where are the Women in leadership categories?

So an outfit like BOYS GP has 'BOYS' in their header...

Imagine newbie Race Day 'Girls' watching these knobs in the stand chant a sexual initiation anthem then being asked to join...a 'Boys' Club...with 15% Women...most who have partners chanting that b/s...

Throughout the Thoroughbred World Women are in the ascendancy and progressively participating in rejuvenating the Sport...

...here...they get to join other Boys chanting kids stuff...yea na

BGP getting the formula right isn't going to be easy. Pooling cash together for a big splash isn't a sustainable model. We saw that with the Melbourne Cup day. Also going to the races e.g. "a bunch of boys" sneaking off with the household budget for a day out is no longer all that appealing. Race crowds when they happen are  more family orientated with the female side more interested in the animals.

Having accumulated say 18,000 internet members and say 600 keen racing followers that really is the easy part. The big challenge is capitalizing on that.

Women are free to join either NZ First, BGP or start their own political party or club.  That's how liberty works.  No need for quotas or positive discrimination.

I suggest you write to BGP and NZ First and express your concerns.

And the Chinese are free to join the beautiful people of Reemers and their Alma Martas on Kraka Day as well...

...but like your Ballet classes...a butch fairy would feel out of place

It's all about Marketing and the Auckland Racing Club target the big spending beautiful Kings olde Boys and Dio debutantes...

And so to have NZTR slung there marketing push behind a bunch of sexist chanting ranting boys in short pants...sans Women

Thats NZTR's choice of course....jump on the bandwagon and ignore Women and the Chinese mad punting community...

Why would you NOT market towards a group That SUPPORTS your sport. ???  good on them.....

The BARMY ARMY has a pretty poor name as well (more mad name than sexist?) but will be welcomed to support the English cricketers where they go (chants and all) You don't like the name of the group? get over it.......

It's called having Fun mate, and supporting your sport and passion.

The photo is brilliant at the start of your thread here.!!! some blokes getting togeather, having fun , SUPPORTING the industry with a bet , And Actually turning up at the track on raceday. !! (sales of refreshments and lunches good)

I Can't find a problem. The girls that know them, would wish them well !! like sending guys on a footy trip !

RACING Benefits from their participation !!!!

(not kids like mine in their 20's who go along certain racedays for drinks and to dress-up' show-off, don't bet, don't  even look at the horses at all)  now there is something the clubs and NZTR should be worried about.

Worried , not at all , this is exactly what they are trying to foster , this is the demographic they promote racing to . They have done all they can to remove the image that racing and gambling is an older male past time , and have succeeded , they just forgot how much money those punters put thru the tote .

Good points , that '20 something' demographic does unfortunately have more underlining issues though.

As well as the 'PERILS of Gambling' drummed into the young folk these days, (my 2 don't bet) they have a HUGE chunk of the 'Animal Activists Issues' thrown in their face as well.

So they still turn up (to drink and socialise certain racedays, or as you say they might put a band on or something as some sort of promotion, to get them in)  but ask the younger ones who Melody Belle is ??

and you get a blank look on a lot of the faces.

Better off with BoysGetPaid who have a bet, know the horses, and hopefully even Love Horses and racing,  like the keen racing folk like myself on BOAY (except the 'Doubting Thomas' who doesn't seem keen)

So doesn't racing need to ask itself, what is the point in kowtowing to this generation if they aren't interested in the horse or the punt?

I know the main reason is because they are a target to sell expensive booze to, but even that looks like it might be a risky strategy for the industry to continue pursue in the future.

It's all well and good chasing the younger generation in this way , if it brings in revenue and hopefully brings some on board in a more regular way , but the way they have gone about is to completely disregard their core customer . We have discussed this plenty on here , about the withdrawal of services and the addition of new technologies whilst cutting out the older ones rather than a transitional period which looks after the long term clients during this updating .

I hate to think of the huge number of lost punters , hence revenue , due to a lack of understanding of their core clients .
