NEW COLOURS, SAME RESULT

What did you think of the new Hayden Cullen Racing silks? I think they are OK but nothing startling and could be more colourful.

Despite the new colours it was business as usual in the two-year-race at Addington last night. In a small six-horse field the Cullen pair Cosmic Major and Cut N Run were lengths better than the rest.

There were some questionable performances by other horses in the race. The B. Hill trained Van Shard looked to be cruising at the 500m but was gone at the 400m, hanging and looking as though he was not interested and gave up. What has happened to the Houghton trained Executive Banner? The Rock N Roll Heaven colt looked good in his first two starts was poor in the Sapling Stakes and worse last night. Has he had enough for now or not much good? Time will tell.

I thought it was good to see Cullen finally have his own racing colours. One of the strengths of that stable has always been their drivers ability to rate them and run at consistent speeds, and i think the drives yesterday made them look a bit more surperior to the likes of the hill horse who lead and worked early, than there actually is in ability.

The disappointment of the race for me was  the dalgety horse casino action. Ran 3rd in a group 1 the start prior, but just battled yesterday. Its form has been very inconsistent so far.

Triangles ! , are the go now, moving on from Mark's 'stars' ,and Mark's dad Roy's(and Barrys) blue 'Spots'.

I always liked the tradional 'ALLBLACKS' colours, a true 'NZ identity' thing.

Peter Wolfenden MBE (Cardigan Bay with Blk and white sash), and Cecil Devine (Lord Module with Blk and white stars) were always looking splendid in their fine NZ colours.

footnote: grand NZer jockey Jim Cassidy rode a brilliant race in the 2000 Caulfield Cup (one of Aus Biggest races) on the horse DIATRIBE to carry the actual 'AllBlacks' colours of Black with a silver fern to Victory !!

The Cullen 'Triangles' go around on near dozen horses tomorrow night Addington. Most of which Allstars DIDN'T win with either, so Cullen can really forge his own identity. Good luck to him.

Was disappointing but Van Shard did cost it 5 lengths we he carted him back before the turn.

Probably would have run 3rd otherwise.

That Major Tom was purchased for $37.5k so looks like a real bargin

.

Thought they weren't too bad but I think if they had white sleeves it would  contrast better with the blue.   Just my opinion though and I'm no expert on fashion.  Quite like Kim Butts colours

It looked to me that Van Shard gave up, the driver tried to get him going again but the horse not interested. The horse didn't do much work.  If I was the owner I would be concerned by that showing. Cosmic Major was impressive and did more work than Van Shard.

Watched replay of this before reading this on here. My thought was at the bell the 1st 3, had probably just set it up for the back 3. Too much mini kami-kazi styles early.

The result indicted such. Whether that is because they are inferior horses or not, who knows, maybe, time will tell.

And yes 1 horse got dragged back unfortuntely by the tiring leader.

Slow sectionals 30.2 first quarter 61 half so hardly kamikaze. I just watched the replay again and the run of Executive Banner even worse than first thought. The first three home went OK, rest mediocre.

Ok, that was just how I saw it when watching. Everyone sees things differently. But I just thought oh dear this could be a prob, come the finish. Early musical chairs (mini-kamikazi driving was what I said, not full kamikazi) & I was bearing in mind the fact they are early 2 y-os with few starts.

Time will tell if they are just inferior or not. But that was how I viewed it at first glance without checking times 😁

Well a couple of nice winners and seconds. from the Cullen yard Addington Friday. didn't have that ALLstars magic feel about it . Gammalite just missing Nat I think? lol......

Was going to be a test how they (Cullens) could beat one of the New Stars on the scene in RAGAZZO MACH with 2 horses in the race.

SHOCK !! What was Mark thinking on his one ? Shock I have to say that. Didn't help out PACE N PRIDE at all , by pulling into the deathseat and giving Ragazzo Mach a nice trip into it , for the last lap. But Lucks a Fortune ,

PaceN Pride held on well anyway.

Mark must of been thinking it would come around him and force the issue with the leader. ???Like a Good solid ALLSTARS horse would of done ??

Regazzo Mach only 2nd again to Cullens horses, so will find Krug hard in Derby then?.  Thought it was a 'Good thing' tonight too.

Personally i think they don't have the run forever, come back having broken a record without raising a sweat look anymore.Somethings missing in my opinion but they still look like they are just as well prepared and well driven as they used to be.

So what's missing?  After 53 starts there is no difference in the UDR between Cullen and the All Stars.  Which isn't too bad considering that Cullen has lost some good horses.

Nat is missing from the driving . Absolute world class. driving mainly in BIG group races with more pressure.

last 100 drives achieved 40 wins. that is hot.

Williams does well but only runs with the averages. That is tonight he had 12 drives for many stables . Drove in every race. He drove 3 favourites and 4 second favourites. Finished with 3 winners and 4 seconds. Spot on what you might expect.

Natalie Rasmussen would have say 4 drives and get 2 winners (if not three) because of being able to Concentrate on Just your Runners , and not all the jump around like a frog in a blender routine Williams has to do.

Pace N Pride looks a good horse, has really stood up since resuming. He won well last night and will be a threat in the Derby.

You all are dreamers. UDRs tell you nothing, the horses cullen is winning with are poor fields, with only a few runners. The team went average last night.
Go back previous years, All Star horses were sitting 3 wide cruising, if people can not see the difference, shows they know little about the game.
Will reflect on this post later this year, you can all say I was on the money
