Did this horse come in Brodie????

Because you didnt respond, I couldn't afford an Easter egg this year 😭😭. I hope you are happy with yourself! 🤣

I was secretly hoping Jonny Longshot would post another tip.

On a positive note, went to Easter show which happens to be beside Alex P. The apartment complex looks fantastic. It is very nice. (Putting aside the fact that financially it was a balls up). But yes very nice indeed and see some people living in parts of it, now, lifts the whole area. And there is a walk way path from the street/road thru to the actual track, so the public can actually get up close without actually going on course.

Yeah it ran 3rd not bad fixed place odds, but I didnt end up backing it as restrictions were too harsh a d so didnt bother after that!

Enthusiasm for punting comes and goes nowadays and if the NZ TAB dont want punters then I will not play  their silly games!

They should be encouraging punters to offload rather than stopping them from offloading.

Was the horse Loyalist?

Or Teegan Banner?

Good to hear  that some of the apartments are being lived in.

Does anyone know if they are all sold as I am sure there were many that pulled out due to time over run?

With all the extra costs including legal expenses has the ATC actually covered its costs bearing in mind the land was free?

Would be good watching the racing from the apartments with your own food and bevies!

Think, they have all been sold now I think, if not very few left. Looks like it will be finished completely very soon. Its the type of thing that could easily fit in down at the waterfront viaduct - wynn yard court area along side hotels there, without looking out of place. Can see why it cost a bit. But anyway it is what it is.

Alex are fortunate to have land and a track in that area these days, with all the changes that are happening.

Have they made any money at all or is it a loss for the ATC?

Karrots, appreciate that it was extremely poorly managed, but has the ATC made any money, broken even or made a loss are you aware?

Ok, umm, anything I have seen has been a loss in millions, I can post or PM you when the latest update is that I get my hands on. Someone said (their opinion) "that it might turn out that they lose the land & make nothing from it, best case scenario".

It is alleged that the person that was in charge and I guess ultimately made the decisions which ended up being bad ones. That after leaving the club & got another job, was soon dismissed from that new role, for un-performing or something similar. Heard that 3rd hand I guess you would say. The 1st hand person randomly works at the same place. But as it's 3rd hand to me, its just a rumour.

Thanks Karrots would be interested to find out the financial result from the project!

Is there commercial property in the complex owned by the ATC that will gibe them an ongoing return?

Did they manage to sell their commercial properties that they were trying to sell do you know?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/racing/63679175/auckland-trots-out-costly-gamble-to-rescue-racing

Did a lil research & found this. Seems they were warned not to do it by a small handful of down-voters as per the article.

I heard (so not sure if this is fact or fiction) there were things under the ground where they were building, therefore due to this the advice from people that knew the history of the land ALSO said NOT to do it. And these things under the ground was a core problem that set them back among other things.

I asked recently how did it end up so badly financially?, Short answer was they didn't listen to people that had experience & knowledge & they tried to do something they had no experience doing.

Personally I like the idea & as I said it lifts the whole area. It is very nice. Just a shame they didn't just sell the land for a profit to property developers to do it, oppose trying to do it themselves.

I actually think they did re sell commercial properties they were trying to sell. But to confirm for sure it's prob best to wait for the next update and I can update for sure then. Unless Eljay might know for sure.

My re-collection is that regardless the club is still worth millions. But again Id need to reconfirm.

Yes that was where I heard she worked. But obviously not dismissed then. If she is still working there that that rumour as mentioned above must not be correct. Interesting.

Ok, gosh I can't remember when exactly I was told this, either Dec or Jan or Feb. Seems a strange thing for an employee there to say to a mate, that then that mate has then passed onto me. But could be some trouble or something, like Alex, and maybe not fully dismissed but warned. Altho they for sure told me dismissed. But you know how Chinese Whispers goes, in saying that too, when there is smoke there is usually fire.

The Auckland Trotting Clubs financial position is something that has been discussed on here previously, although more so probably 12 to 18 months ago.

If you google the club, the latest annual report that comes up is for 2019. No doubt 2020 report must be somewhere, not sure how to access it and why its harder to find.

2019 stated its financial position as this.  "the club started the year with an asset base of $193 million. With issues encountered on the development this has reduced to $126 million after recognising impairment on inventory under construction."

I'm not an expert, buti did post more reported detail on this when there was a topic about it last year. They were paying some ridiculous amount in interest to just get the complex's finished. In 2019 it said they had borrowed $195 million, and at the end of that they projected a $55 million net loss from the project.

Thats why it was reported not long after they were selling many assets. It was also reported that they were facing legal challenges. It was interesting to see who had made the decisions that lead to the financial disaster, and their expertise,or lack of as relates to what they undertook.

What i personally found disturbing was the misleading statements from the likes of mick guerin around the time. For example when promoting purchasing at the yearling sales he had often quoted the future expected stake increases by the ATC.  All that while anyone close to the action must have known how everything was actually unfolding. He was later to claim he was ignorant of how bad it was.

Now here we are,2021,and we have had  no recent press coverage. Why is that. And what does that say about those who should be reporting, and what does it say about the transparency from the club.

People are interested in how things are progressing, so why doesn't someone report on it or the club give a press release.

So this Domonique Dowding stuffs up big time with the ATC and had no idea back in 2014 and now Dunedin Casino has her in charge!

How on earth these hopeless socalled executives continue to obtain highly paid roles is very mind boggling!

Dowding has success with what does anyone know?

The ATC losing tens of millions is unbelievable when the land was free and house prices have increased dramatically over many years!

John Allan from the TAB is just another example of a niller that leaves destruction wherever he goes!
