I hope they treat the public to a better coverage than the tripe they dished up viewers last year.

Senz on the radio ,hopefully they dont have someone describing the race, and we hear more from the commentator not the guy in the studio.

Some of the people who are organising the media I think would struggle to organize a good shit.

Good media coverage attracts new people and keeps the ones they already have.

The key is good interviews. Bill Pomare excellent. The thing that got me is that Bill has seen videos of Ocean Billy and reckons Waller has got him looking far better than he ever did.

Saw about 30 seconds. I watched the lightweight Toni Street and some lightweight talking drivel. Dreadful.

And that's what fucks me off, people sometimes in the media producing mediocrity, the radio setup isn't brilliant but I think the TAB are responsible for that, they need to push for improvements, but at least there is a starting point.

Getting back to tv 1 ,someone pointed out same thing last year, if you do it do it properly.

Gee even if they just had a hour long of the trackside coverage would suffice instead of adds and bullshit.

Mikey you are going to have to understand no one is doing anything right for the punter , the TV coverage is as much about making ad revenue than showing the cup .

As for the TAB pushing for improvements , to them this is an improvement , there was no coverage before . There is no one at the TAB that would listen to the racing coverage or be able to tell you where to find SENZ on the radio band .

I agree. TV one simply wants money from the ad revenue . Quality of broadcasting is now irrelevant. It's about the look, and they think Toni Street sitting there smirking with a ridiculous hat on her head will bring in revenue. That's what they care about.

Yeah.  Switched over to watch some meaningful coverage and saw the same, Toni Street,  an ad for Pak 'n' Save and switched back.

A month or two in good weather usually helps.

I've said before Toni Street fronted tvnz coverage of the Olympics, and I thought the coverage was very good, it focused on NZ, sorry Aoteoroa competitors and they even didn't stick the adds on lots of times either, but personally fronting a main event like yesty race with that format I would say to management , find someone else, I'd rather sit at home and watch like the rest of us.

Marc Claydon working for senz  would probably prefer to front the radio show just like the old trackside was, that's what we would all prefer I bet, it seemed they had a good decent number of listeners for the afternoon, I listened now and then too but to serve the punters, the people who invest their money with the TAB, the people who are  in close association with senz, it needs to be better, it's not that difficult, something like the old trackside with a bit of what they have now, pretty simple.

Even though we have tv  yesty race at 5 probably had a large audience listening , driving, milking cows, working in shops , hairdressers, maybe even undresses  lol which emphasises radios place in our society, in some ways senz is treating true race followers poorly, commentaries is what we want to go with talk, yesty which in many ways is the twenty fifth Saturday of racing for the season, Boxing Day is the 26thTeRapa had a $50000 quad die, Wingatui, 25) yet listening you wouldn't have known yet the TAB is giving away lots of 50 buck bonus bet prizes.

Putting races on apps is fine to a degree but there also needs a balance of what's free to access  tv1 at the Olympics, was a perfect example and racing on radio is no different, there is no clarity of what's on what's not, Sundays they broadcast the odd harness race then miss half the others, either they are doing them or they ain't, to serve the real race followers it would be nice to know what's on.

As I said on another thread I'm done and dusted on this subject, ( maybe ) but my initial post about the tv coverage was based on what was said and seen last year which seemed to be a rerun again yesty.

i will add I'm not bagging Toni Street at all just the presentation.

The Channel 10 coverage here was very average, Racing.com was better. The Channel 7 coverage of SYD is far superior, with Emma Freedman and Kate Mallyon front and centre, two women that know the sport inside out and have heaps of on air personality........funnily enough this is still the race that stops the nation, hope like hell it keeps on keeping on until I kick the bucket ....and beyond.

MIkey this is not SENZ fault , they are probably supplying what they are paid to , no more no less , the fault lies wholly and solely at the feet of the TAB . They have been shitting on punters for years in various different ways , withdrawing radio coverage was the last in a long line .

But the roosters are coming home to roost .

Toni Street appears to be the goto person for sport on TV1..Pretty poor effort.

I have the same problem with my tennis. We seem to get the same inane British commentators whose sole expertise is to tell us repeatedly how wonderful is Andy Murray...even if the match on court is between a guy from Norway and one from Kazakhstan.

They will soon move on to Cameron Norrie, to be fair Andy Murray is doing well just playing to the level he is.

On another note I bet Nadals arsehole is enjoying his break from the game, gee he picks the shit out if it, every fuckin serve, hes a fuckin nut but a good one just the same.

Yesty a 2million buck quaddie   at Melbourne and listening to senz in the afternoon you wouldn't even know, it's not engaging the punters this show, it's just light entertainment, it's kind of funny though when trackside shutdown and now this new set up has started it's actually hard to reengage with things, the thing about senz is they have a quaddie app you can download apparently so why not focus commentaries on the quaddie races, many moons ago it use to be the double and treble final leg so at least there is some benchmark as to what's broadcast and not,

On a day like today why not the Quaddie races from Ascot Park  and Hastings, yet they will probably broadcast race Race 2 5 7 from somewhere and forget the rest.

At present it's just too airy fairy, the TAB should be seeking better.

on another topic completely I tuned into senz at some odd hour and they were broadcasting some cricket, it sounded to me like the crowd was that fake crowd noise, the commentators probably weren't at the ground, it's not a easy listen, you usually hear the crowd when wickets fall and sixes are hit, this fake crowd is just consistent all the time, listening to Bryan Waddle and Coney on radio sport was gold, but that seems to have gone now too, it was a 20 20 match, frankly I can't be bothered with that form of cricket, there was and is something unique about cricket on radio if you have the right personel doing it.

Gee I'm a moaning prick but what's fuckin wrong with the people in charge of some of the media, we don't want all the frilly stuff, just good basic quality broadcasting.

The TAB are getting exactly what they want , they think this is what keeps punters engaged .

Airy fairy describes the management of NZ racing and gambling administration .
