Champion jockey Jamie Kah has released a statement after pictures circulated online of her near a substance that appears to be white powder.

It comes as Racing Victoria confirmed stewards would make contact with Kah to "avail themselves of all the facts" before they determine if any rules have been broken.

The photos came to light just a day after Kah announced she was back riding trackwork and was excited to eventually return to race riding.

Kah, who is leading the Victorian metro premiership, hasn't ridden since March following a sickening fall at Flemington.

Kah was rushed to hospital following the fall where she suffered a serious brain injury.

It is unclear when the photo was taken or what the substance is in the photo.

Racing.com is not suggesting the white powder was Kah's or that she consumed it.

In a statement Kah said: "I am so disappointed that Newscorp published this "story" ....

"I am determined to focus on my health and recovery following my race fall in March which left me with a serious brain injury and being in hospital for 3 weeks.

"I am working hard to get back to doing what I love, and that is being a passionate and successful jockey.

"I will continue to focus on my physical and mental health and making a full recovery so I can return to racing and be the best person that I can possibly be.

"I won't be making any further comment."

In a statement Racing Victoria said: “The Stewards will be making enquiries of Jamie Kah to avail themselves of all the facts before considering whether any Rules of Racing have been breached.”

Racing.com has contacted the VJA for comment.

But the day after the jockey announced her comeback to the sport, she has been dragged into a social media scandal, the Herald Sun’s Page 13 reported.

The images show one image of Kah smiling for the camera with her white painted nails clearly in view and a second one with a hand featuring white nails appearing to divide lines of the white powder up on a plate.

Jamie Kah, Ruby McIntyre charged over white powder scandal

By Alice Coster (Herald Sun)

Champion jockey Jamie Kah is determined to get back in the saddle after racing stewards charged her with breaching regulations after images surfaced of her on social media with a white substance.

Racing Victoria issued a statement on Friday saying stewards have issued one charge each against Jamie Kah and Ruby McIntyre.

The charges come after the Herald Sun revealed images of Kah, McIntyre and greyhound trainer Jacob Biddell with a plate of white substance that started circulating on social media on June 23.

The statement read Kah attended a gathering at her Somerville "residential premises which was also attended by Ms McIntyre and one other person".

It read that Ms McIntyre recorded Kah "using an identification card in her hand to arrange a white powder substance into three lines".

"Ms McIntyre shared the Recordings with a person/s not in attendance at the Gathering," the RV statement read.

"The Recordings have been widely reported both in the media and on social media, with the perception amongst persons commenting on the post being that those in attendance at the Gathering used an illegal substance."

Kah and McIntyre, who is understood to work for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, have each been charged with breaching racing rules.

"A person must not engage in, conduct prejudicial to the image, interests, integrity, or welfare of racing, whether or not that conduct takes place within a racecourse or elsewhere."

Kah, 27, had only just returned to the saddle in the days prior to the video surfacing following a horrific fall at Flemington Racecourse back in March.

She spent three weeks in hospital including several days in an induced coma with bleeding to the brain. She also suffered a fractured wrist and broken foot.

Victoria's leading jockey does not currently have a racing license due to medical grounds.

Ciaron Maher Racing head of communications Michael Barrett confirmed the stable was aware of the charge against McIntyre.

Barrett said they would not be making further comment while the Racing Victoria investigation was underway.

“We have internal processes going as well comparatively and we will be working with Racing Victoria on that,” Barrett said on Friday.

The stable was doing its due diligence and providing McIntyre with moral support and human resources services.

Greyhound Racing Victoria is also scrutinising Biddell for possible infractions of racing regulations, marking the second such inquiry into the matter.

A spokeswoman for Kah said on Friday she was focusing on her health and "returning to the saddle".

She said Kah was aware of the charges and would not be making comment, or any decision to appeal before going before the tribunal.

Racing Victoria said a Victorian Racing Tribunal date was yet to be confirmed.

  • Chief Stipe changed the title to Update: Kah Chargrd. Jamie Kah's been baking cakes.

I always thought she was a nice lady and a very good jockey, but she really can't be all that bright. She certainly mixes with some really dopey looking people. The greyhound trainer looks super thick and the other woman shared the photos with the world so how thick is she? It might be time to consider people having to pass an IQ test to become licensed in the racing industry.

Absolutely, and her (Kah's) private life has fuck all to do with anyone else, least of all half baked Melbourne stewards.

Weren't these same stewards responsible for setting fire to at least 500k of Racing Victoria's reserves because they sanctioned a jockey to ride with an incorrect apprentice allowance recently?

These so-called stewards have far too much power IMO, there needs to be a higher authority to whom license holders can air their grievances.

This will damage her career ..big time.

Nonsense, this woman has overcome massive prejudice and chauvinism to get to the top in a male dominated profession. It's results that count in this game.

Yeah right...most owners aren't rednecks who would be horrified by her partaking in illegal substances!🙄
