If ever a post summed up an argument this is it!.....Tempo is everything, it's how professional punters over here make a living, a speed map that means something. Most jocks over here in Oz can ride to even time, [15] here in Oz, always has been, although now the jock trainers are a lot scarcer than they used to be as the old blokes/sheila's retire/drop off. I know when I had a go at training in NZ after 5 years at Flemington and 12 years at Rosehill [BC] before Chris........I struggled to get my work riders to understand a working gallop and evens.....they had no idea, I would grit my teeth and bear it.....no other option, but it proves that unless the pilot understands pace you are likely to get a plane crash, or at least a bumpy ride...if you get my drift.

Maybe he got to one of those troughs?....you know, the ones no one knew about, only the farmer that wouldn't be questioned.

I know I shouldn't throw stones as I live in a glass house, but have a look at the record of none other than Victoria's leading trainer........it goes way back, google it, it makes for wonderful reading regarding fines and suspensions, he's obviously turned a new leaf, found God ,maybe, but it's extraordinary and yet he is idolised and revered over here.....now can you tell me? is there anyone in NZ like this?

You need to see a vet.
-
And I'll let it go because Chief is a good bloke and you're a sycophant ........roll on the next topic.

My last take.....I promise, really......all this started because Ashoka was offended by what he thought was a racist attack, a racial attack......what I did was offer my opine on racism, Ive seen it first hand over there, it's sickening, blowhards like you do little for NZ, you are in the minority though, thank goodness and eventually you will shuffle off to a gig somewhere else, there are a few on here that think you are Gods gift, but a fair few don't, go back to the other side and molest them, Ashoka didn't fire up over nothing, if you're half a man you'll let it go and move on, and desist from attacking someone because they think differently.....go on, prove me wrong, move on and be polite, or do what comes naturally, in this case fella, I'd love to be wrong.
-
You throw stones expect get hurt, you didn't like it, did you, you're a bully mate, what I'm saying is factual, you may not have made the alleged racist comment, but you are sanctioning shit behaviour, you're a goose Barry, sorry to say, and Ashoka is correct, seek help.

That quote say's it all......

Thank God for democracy then as I don't find his posts of little basis, in fact the opposite, for at least the past 5 years or so......on the other channel to begin with, he also offered another opinion and not always in agreement, which makes the world go around. As for the racism that was raised I can't argue on that as I wasn't privy to the offending post, suffice to say, racism has always been a problem in NZ, and yet you wouldn't have a rugby team without the Maori and Islander content/players, what a useless team the AB's would be if it was a Pakeha only make up, easy beats I say....so leave racism out of our wonderful racing site that is BOAY, please, act like decent human beings and grow up.

I eat fish and meat alright, but I respect all animals, I wouldn't degrade them by using terminology such as you did, and why you attack Ashoka also offends, his posts have always been done with a high degree of thought and decorum. IMO.

What a sad little fart you are, I hope to God there's not a Mrs B, what a miserable life she must have if she exists, or has she bolted?
-
yep, made the AB's.....and we travelled down to Chch on the Maori, I bet you can't remember those crossings, and my first was on the Hinemoa, my last the Wahine with a load of horses.....if you can remember the Hinemoa I'll buy you a horse or two to train.....there you go.

I agree Ashoka, back in the 80's before I trained at Flemington, I enjoyed a business relationship with the late, great Roy Higgins. Now Roy was not shy when using the persuader however Roy told me, [and I never forgot] he didn't use the whip if he had led and felt his horse was a beaten force, he used the whip sparingly anyway as he believed 90% of horses gave their best in competition and it was always a last resort....the modern rider as soon as they turn for home go the piston whip, why I have no idea, no one to teach them?......to watch those grand old horsemen of the past is a joy, hands and heels and if challenged pull the stick slowly and try to get that little extra. Roy was a legend, I'm proud we were friends, and I loved his riding style and the open affection he had for the horses....Roy wasn't shy to show that also, the photo of Roy pashing Light Fingers [Mother] is legendary.....Thanks.

Absolutely Des, and Ashoka is a very decent fellow, look forward to many many of his future posts.

When I was a small boy I used to sit with my Mum and listen to the footy, My Mum loved Welly, she hated Fergie McCormack, boy could she dish it out, you had to be there. Subsequently as I grew older I too learned to look on Canterbury with disdain, dirty buggers, not like Welly, how my Mum would handle all this Canterbury success is beyond me, she'd be on 60-80 fags a day, reality and my Mum were like ships in the night......however, God Bless the Crusaders cos without em NZ Rugby would be a bit like NZ Racing......I do remember a rep rugby team I played in being billeted out and we stayed with a family in Papanui/Merivale.....we were dragged along to watch a club game and a fellow called Lyn Colling was playing half back......a fair sort of talent I thought......I think he kicked on a bit, Freda would know, she was probably running the water bucket back then eh?.....just kidding Freda.....you're only a baby compared to some of us.

Unless something drastic happens, north that is not south, how will racing survive in NZ? Look at the betting pools, that's not where the revenue is coming from, it's sports betting that's propping up NZ racing. Many times I sit and try and decipher how the take out props up stakes? we know they have cut the amount of races, it makes the bottom line look better, but if you take 20% out of a pool of 50K and that's being generous, you add in the salaries, ancillary costs, how then does a race carry a stake of 25k? it just doesn't add up? I've been self employed for 40 years, I wouldn't have survived with arithmetic like this, yes we had to borrow, and take risks, still taking risks after all these years, but NOT with other people's money!!!!.......they borrowed against the reserves the industry had, with what consultation with the industry? Spare me please, unless there is massive reform in NZ, it's the Titanic.....and there may not be as many survivors, well financially that is.

The Corps certainly are Reefton, that's the huge difference. I note TAB.COM.AU with it's commingling has very poor form analysis of NZ races, they seem to cut and paste, however the two leading corps here do absolute thorough research and analysis and yet the turnover and interest on Kiwi racing is negligible. That's a major worry of mine, the faith the boffins at NZRB have put into the race fields legislation is misplaced and the public are being mislead, it will end in tears Reefton, tears. Many analysts here are also punters, it's not hidden, in fact it's promoted, people like Ron Dufficy an icon amongst punters here is a leading form analyst and makes no secret of the fact he goes the punt......what I witnessed with your First Call program that goes to air here at 7am Saturdays has a viewing audience equal to a man and his dog, however I would hate to have to hang my hat on the tips provided by your panelists!.....my God they are hopeless, and paid to tip as well......oh my, handwringing and wrinkled brow......

NZRB Statement of Intent 2018-2020 Released
Rowley Mile replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Yep, just like the sheer utter bullshit released in 2011, without the reference to sports betting and fixed odds platforms......cobblers, no confidence in this at all, some of you, most of you rather felt the pain from the 2011 report, or those that are left in the game....so many walked away. I wonder if Purcell's parting comments were, ''I was shot, and yet I was only the messenger''......and by crikey, he was only the messenger......NZRB signed off on this, both Hughes and Allen, and let's be honest, if they were standing for office in your local electorate, as your party of choice elected candidate, would you vote for them?.......I wonder. -
There is nothing in the papers/internet about KL's positive Huey, nada/zilch...why? if it's to meth then surely that's big news is it not?.....why did the TS presenter mention it?....nothing makes sense.....
-
He broke down during the race Freda, badly, he stayed on his feet but it was horrible.....he put in a shocking run the race previous, shocking, he may have tried to tell them something, but no one was listening.
-
Hesi, it doesn't work when it rains for months on end, in HK they get a torrential downpour, the humidity takes care of it, plus the texture and sole of the grass, but netlon and mud are not compatible.....SING is the same, however they recognised the potential trouble and dropped in a synthetic......
-
Haven't seen anything, anywhere about more P positives, how on earth can they keep these things closeted......is there any transparency left at all.
-
7-50 the place here in Brizzie Vonn, nearly, but no cigar.....yet.
-
HK's gain, NZ's loss.......now that's another fine decision by someone in charge, NOT......let young Tom seek fame and fortune overseas'' yeah right, why would he ever want to go back, that talent lost.

Over here in the land of oz a major [ no not major, nothing concerning NZ racing over here is major] let's say a talking point is the obscene salaries paid to underachievers and how that can be? Cost cutting will be a focal point of JM's report, the wastage, and I'm being polite......it's no secret here in Oz re the Kiwi salaries, most were astounded, how on earth can an industry pay it's management that well when the reward to the owners/trainers is so small, it's laughable, even in the UK they comment on it......so let's start with costs, not sacking racecourses, although that may go hand in hand as we had to rationalise over here and let some go.....but not on a massive scale, you have to realise the distances here in Oz are so much further than NZ, so for many country towns the racecourse and their Raceday is the jewel in the crown for their sporting year.
