  1. They certainly zipping along, even the open class horses went 2.04, good racing, reefton up next, late scratching of the 25k draw.
  2. Iets hope they have a good day, weather looks ok.
  3. Quite a golden era you could say, im sure your right about aquidity, Reykjavik by Icelandic trained by Helen preston I think,,I remember her big black horse ernest,,and seamist by Beaufort sea a very underrated sire around that time, from memory lord gesmo had a couple of radio hosts as owners to, interesting oxford aunts progeny brother will had a start at timaru last week, if only he had an ounce of ability the his big brother had, I'll fated son of zac, a tragic end for him,Cheers for the post, and all the best with the team tomorrow.
  4. He was a very nice horse, and was one of my favourites back in the day, think paul falvey rode him a few times,,did Barry taggart train him or did you, also another horse called polacca think Lynn melvile may have trained him he was by butty I think, you've certainly done the miles over the years Freda, I can remember you also training a tidy performer lord gizmo, not the right spelling, can't remember who you trained with at the time.An old fella said to me and it may have been in the late eighties, the game was on the slide then, saying paid officials would cripple the racing, I think he'd turn in his grave if he was alive to see the salaries that are paid out today, must also mention strange majic he was by quito, another very speedy horse that preformed very well around the coast.Be interested to know which horse in your opinion was the best you've trained.
  5. That's very impressive, the lucky dip of the racing game
  6. Well you do say your on the money, they must think your a man of wealth, report wasn't posted as at 10pm last night, they must been over worked, even though having a typist to record it, anyhow merry new year everyone, be going from the new you for 2022 to the new me for 2023, been a tough year, and not sure this one coming will be any easier.Good luck on the punting wherever it may be.
  7. I got 3 in three weeks, still had plenty in my tab account, two were sports bets which I've never placed one in my life till now, sports betting never interested me, had one and let the other expire, that's my lot for the year id say, on another note still waiting to read the stipes report on reefton today, apparently meant to be posted not long after last race, been a long time now.
  8. Sleep like a baby, not everyone on holiday, work beckons around that hour
  9. , The days of looking after the customer long gone.
  10. Watch those hoses this weather, crickey only one bet, you wont be increasing the harness turnover, I actually liked boys invasion, but was looking for 20s plus, especially off the unruly, the way he starts you'd think he start with em, guess I was to greedy.Methven used to be fair to all runners until they fiddled with the track, still a front runners course, not just the coast, but anyway according to some coast will be finished in 2 years, so we wont need to worry,A few more funds for the metropolitan clubs, where the racing is rather boring in my opinion, and buggar all attend and I for one wouldn't even bother, on another note how does funding get paid out to clubs one time it was a % of oncourse and ofcourse takings, is that all changed these days.
  11. Looked decent crowd lining the fence in that race, be interesting to see the turnover, Westport was down yesterday apparently.
  12. First nz horse to win his first ever race in America, great photo, great chapter on him in the book unhoppled heroes, left New Zealand on a plane with a very good galloper called up n coming, and picked up a kangaroo on the way, think they stopped in Fuji and horses were not allowed off the plane, then an emergency stop when the galloper done his prunes on the trip, interesting old story, not many horses win two dominions, and he'd be one that's often forgotten.
  13. Was going to ask the question, so thanks for the update, and as someone pointed out, lead bias not just Westport, next question is there much of a crowd, didn't see many lining the fence, only seen the last race and again mostly front runners.
  14. You probably find many are back in their homes by now, don't think the accommodation has a lot to do with it, more the travel cost and saturation point in harness meetings.
  15. Well done, do you know his other claim to fame, certainly better fields at mot today, be interesting to see if the racing is leader dominated, do recall being there many years ago and watched a huge performance for top galloper, loader, he came from last that day.
  16. Friendly to me today, thought the 17s in tarukenga over the odds, Id like to know a few of the friendly grass tracks, couple good days racing, not as many on course today, but the norm for the second day, good luck to reefton looks like the same horses lining, been some very good horses start and win at Westport over the years, armalight our mana just a couple, also top trotter that won two dominions trained there if anyone can remember its name, I'm sure brodie will he's always on the money.
  17. No like the media to exaggerate news
  18. According to my source, the dredge parked up at the buller river today, maybe on xmas holiday.
  19. Looked like a very big crowd there today, be interesting to see what the turnover was, apparently dexter Dunn was on course.
  20. Apparently they still have the dredge and it hasn't been sold, and is contracted out to various areas,
  21. Any other towns and clubs you could add to the list, just to keep things a little more balanced, the old coasters a resilient bunch, and can handle a few hundred mills rain, think the day they had the big one buller river peaked 12.5 metres, and interesting the flooding was from an off shoot of the buller river ,which was ment to work as an overflow and had done for years, trouble being hadn't been maintained for 20 plus years, getting back to the racing the club will still do a good turnover better than most, and probably in a better shape than most.
  22. Well, not much positivity in those comments, I'm sure some of the residents will have a different view, bit more to it than just the floods, hope the flooding is not coming to a town near you, wont be a lot of places where it's not, coast can handle more rain than most other districts.
  23. Very worrying times ahead, for a club that's usually have a abundance of horses looking for a start, be the worst fields they've had for many a year,
  24. Yes real shame, given their impressive turnovers year in year out, see a few of the usual trainers not coming, but as some have said cost and a sign of the times, nominations left open till today, but can't see that making to much difference, doesn't bode well for the circuit.
  25. The stable have never been afraid to bring down a few of their stars to race on the coast, can remember the good sprinter scapolo racing and winning there a few years ago, always good to see, grassroots racing at it's best.
