Unbelievable - Seriously- Whip Rule Not Even Funny Now!!!!!
Happy Sunrise replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Reality is he didn't break the rules. Hence warning only. -
Just for the record. The Fixer opened at 11s, drifted to 18s then 21 and ultimately paid $3.70 the tote. Seemingly came into calculations late in the piece going by these comments. His chances were undoubtedly helped by the late withdrawals of Ultimate Machete and Chicago Bull.

I have watched the start a few times. I don't think it was a bad start. I don't think your horse had to stand for very long. The major problem of drawing the inside is they have to stand for awhile longer than the others obviously. If indeed they are asked to stand! I think your horse was caught flat footed when the tapes went and even worse is when they get slight momentum backwards. That is the biggest problem for horses drawn on the inside. I always hope for horses who I have backed drawn on the inside that they get to go when the momentum is on their side. Sadly, there is no consistency but I don't think it can be entirely attributed to the starter as 14 or more horses are never going to be settled and ready to go at the same time. Maybe it is time to get rid of the stand but I think that would take away some of the variety of racing. Especially at the grass tracks when people can get real close to the action.

You could well be very right but perception is everything unfortunately. As they say the smoke is enough to kill you...you don't need a fire. Kind of sums up the whole whip rule in a way. Are we dealing with smoke or fire. -
I can't even agree with myself half the time! It is a sign not to put any bet on.

I think he was whacking the shit out of the horse. -
I highly recommend the movie 'The Hangover' if you have not seen it. Sounds like your crew will out do them.

I thought the Dominion start was ok when he said 'right' . Horses were stationary. See below. The Cup on the other hand was a disgrace. Not one horse was stationary at the time of the release. It was moving walk up which is not a standing start and not standard practice. He should be asked why that is the case?

I counted one 'bashing' just outside the 400m and 9 withing the 400m so that is ok isn't it. Haven't seen a 'flourish' like that for a long time. Under the rules I suppose there is nothing that can be done. One more strike and he would have got done pretty well. As Brodie says, the rule is a bit of a joke because the whipping Copperhead Rose got was well outside the bounds of positive animal welfare. -
I see on TV 1 they had a segment about how they have created a horse ambulance. They showed the vivid image of Terry Chmiel flying through the air. plus the horse breaking down in the Melbourne Cup. However, the segment was not too negative, in fact, was more of a plus. Well done to the people who thought of this and actually got to this stage. A proactive measure which will benefit all.

Funny. The old buttocks must have been clenched while waiting to see if it went through...

Brilliant.

Twitter is sounding board I know and never has any depth but I wonder if Mr McCarthy could put forward some of the reasons and examples for the placement of horses overseas, or on selling? It is a logical decision for a number of reasons. Including the bloody big elephant in the room which most balanced people will see without me even mentioning it.

Everybody loves 'the ladie's man' Especially Jason Teaz and Mark McNamara. Both seem to have a man crush on the lad ?

No, I think it will win one very soon.

I would like very much for Sickopunter, dkc, Jacksprat and Shad to come over here. They were good value back in the day but each to their own. -
2 seconds. We both close. ?

Why do they spend time over here?? -
For the price he was paying, yes. Luckily the overrated Dunn runners were in the Cup field or there would have been 10 starters. Interesting to see 4 of the 5 first runners home were Purdon runners and 4 of the last 5 home were Dunn runners. Those negative towards the Dunn stable cite that as failure, maybe even say they are overrated horses. Funny how the AllStars supporters are quick to slag the Dunn stable with their warped logic when in fact it is a success to get that many in the field. Truth is, for AllStars supporters, there is only one stable and one stable only and no debate can be entered into. At times, the axle of the bandwagon protrudes so far up there own arse it is not funny.

Luckily, there aren't too many close finishes in the big races due to the domination of the All Stars otherwise drivers would be getting fined all the time. The Dominion could possibly provide a good example of a few getting fined.
