  1. The virus gave the industry the opportunity in broad daylight to slash and burn everything from a purely economic sense. The industry was clearly in a mess as shown by the needed bailout but saying goodbye to everything with no thoughts to any other considerations other than saving money was silly and now that is all unraveling upon themselves and it will continue to do so in the future. What will be back next? Trackside Radio? On-course windows? Oncourse presenters? Waimate? Wyndham? Talk about creating resentment within pockets of the industry by their short-sightedness.
  2. Probably on the phone to the Geraldine Trotting Club delivering the great news about how lucky the club is to receive the date back. Wonder if Waimate are sitting by their phone waiting for their call.
  3. So which part of this has changed? I look forward to the official announcement on HRNZ today.
  4. Realized? But they have figures from previous years to use to guide their decision making. Are they that dumb?
  5. I can usually find one or two, maybe 3 but never more than that as evidenced by my Methven performance last week. The winner of a race at Mot is always the one who bounces the driver highest over the crossing...true but little known fact lol 😂
  6. That is great. But what is the rationale for this decision? Matt M is correct with what he says in his tweet. What the F**k is going on?
  7. I know it is the way it works but I just don't get how La Rosa keeps its paycheck and contribution to the First 4 when it ends another horses chance in the race.
  8. What?
  9. Did he? No. Do you expect the stewards to chase up after all the drivers and trainers etc when the drivers and trainers don't respond to requests?
  10. That is all irrelevant. Nathan Purdon has a responsibility to respond to the request at the time and take responsibility for his own actions.
  11. It is a safe bet because if the punter is lacking confidence then the All Star factor gives them the courage to put the bet on or the thinking is 'the all stars always win' so this bet will win too. That is why multis of All Stars on Jewels Days and Cup Week are so popular. The same punter would probably not put the same bet on if it was a McGrath or Dunn runner.
  12. And that may just be his perception at work.
  13. Only Brodie's as he is super special.
  14. It has nothing to do with the integrity of the TAB. The only look after their own interests.
  15. Yes, there is but what does that have to do with the conversation?
  16. How is that?
  17. They would think they were being set up so wouldn't risk it for their own sake. A few weeks ago they were mentioning 10 and 50 dollar bets being placed so 10 000 would be out of their league. From my observations and betting experience I would suggest a one dollar drop in a price for a horse would equate to about 50 dollars being put on the horse for the ff win but that is pure speculation on my part and I doubt there is any logic to the movement of the odds. When you see something drop from say 17ff to 13ff on opening it doesn't really mean much these days.
  18. The TAB would never accept a 10 000 bet on a 10-1 shot at Orari. Not in a million years.
  19. If they can make the weight and haven't been drinking 😅
  20. I am not exactly sure how the TAB works it. It is especially restrictive when the FF come out and I try to bet on something at odds. I am only talking in the low 2 figures, not even 3 figures. I seem to have a limit on how much I can win at times too. It is a mystery but it seems quite common among harness punters.
  21. At least in the gallops they don't have flat tyres.
  22. If you do your homework in harness racing you can narrow the margin of error down quite substantially I believe and the TAB are terrified of being taken to the cleaners in harness in my opinion. I am no real threat to them and their viability but my betting is illogically restricted at times.
  23. What do you mean?
  24. True but the social scene of big crowds at Cromwell, Oamakau, Mot, Orari etc is vital to the sustainability of the industry in a variety of ways.
  25. I believe Brodie is correct.
