  1. And stay away from the gallops, what the hell is wrong with you.
  2. You really do need to keep better control of your better half, Rusty.
  3. Then he is a very attractive female.
  4. Most of the viewing is past the post which is crap. You prefer betting on high quality and performing horses???? Use the tote and she stops singing during the race. Is she a TAB spy keeping an eye on you?
  5. TV 1 News: 'Peters hasn't heard from RITA bosses' People should be very afraid.
  6. Some would ask 'has he ever'?
  7. This was in the Herald about some of the perks and gifts MPs get. Read the one about Ellerslie. He never went? If that doesn't sum it up nothing will. The guy is a self serving moron who couldn't give a toss about racing.
  8. What is your proposal for the future of harness racing tracks in the South Island? NZ? Depends on what you see harness racing becoming in the future? A Melton / Menangle situation with a majority of meetings at Addington (goodbye Rangiora, Ashburton, Timaru all weather) or the status quo? The famed advice on these forums when you ask questions is to ring the RIU etc so ring RITA and ask what they have in store for Forbury...who knows...RITA might have a sexy telephone voice lol But don't ring as it is a good thing to chat about ?
  9. North Otago's finest citizens?
  10. As long as not a mile.
  11. Potential for a large embankment on the backstraight. Could fit 50 000 on it ?
  12. What happened to them?
  13. Motukarara is. best and fairest (apart from the crossing)
  14. Forbury's place is as a 3rd string type of horse venue which makes it survive. If you are honest, some of the lower rating fields are the worst in the country. I doubt this would change in the future as it is too far to go for horses from Canterbury if the trainer thinks it has any chance of winning closer to home. Some go for a soft kill but they won't win another race after that. Although, Dalgety and Cox tend to campaign down there. They used to have a claiming series in winter which was interesting but it seems to have died off. They could try to improve the stake of the Tuapeka Cup which is only 14 000. Could they double it to generate publicity and interest once a year for the general public? It would cost millions. Everything is dilapidated, including the stands, one of which you can't enter. Maybe they should model themselves on Waimate and their look (how about pick Waimate's facilities up and transport to Dunedin and close Waimate ?) Who owns the land?
  15. What would the greyhounds do if it closed? Could they maintain it by themselves? Any talk of closures needs to be done with the big picture in sight. RITA will have it under control lol. I would like to see it maintained as it is a night venue and it also serves a purpose for southern trainers in winter. However, it would have to be one of the most run down club facilities wise for the general public but it does have rustic charm.
  16. And track information. I heard the All Stars cleaned up at Victoria Park. Must have enjoyed the 200m straight. Has anyone been to the Hawkes Bay for grass track racing??
  17. It contained all sorts of information. Whoever compiled it deserved a medal.
  18. Bit of a bible in its time...
  19. She doesn't look very happy. At least Cardigan Bay is in colour the next issue.
  20. I heard Brodie was born 9 months after this was published. Not sure what went on but speculation is welcome.
  21. At the same meeting...early days but who knew what she would do..
  22. I went through some old boxes today...I will go number 4. The comment says ' Wide to lead, steadied, no problem -exciting colt who should be too slick here.
  23. Why does HRNZ run this business? A big of extra cash in good years? Just interested to know. It doesn't always run at a loss by the way. 'decline in turnover' must be a pretty common phrase lol.
  24. It would be a start but I reckon these days big wigs want to believe they have to do so much so they employ people around them, but, in reality, it is just to lessen their workload so they can swan around or have another pointless meeting. Restructuring to bring some coherency to the industry would be a start. But to be fair, RITA and HRNZ seem to outline what they want to achieve in the future. To me, it seems like everyone is just out to save their own bacon. Look at what happened when they announced the possible closing of clubs look at the response to that. Each level of the industry seems to have their own interests at the forefront and even within those levels there is competition eg ATC and Cambridge. Nothing is going to improve with these attitudes. Looking at the HRNZ report of 2019 is interesting. When you read this paragraph you doesn't it give you cause for optimism? Why is this not trumpeted as it will bring an extra $13m a year to the codes. Where will this money go? Some clubs may not survive coronvirus if HRNZ and RITA get their knives out. The 4 clubs being used to bring racing back in may signal a sign of what is too come. Clubs like Waimate could struggle? What are the 'number of factors' that caused it to go down from $553 000 to $195 000 ? Is it significant distribution reserves are nearly exhausted and forecasts will not be realised? Is HRNZ the only entity which is operating on a minimal scale and in the interests of the industry?
  25. It will most likely be new accounts for betting on sports The salaries seem to be the target of a lot of rage and ridcule (I have joined in too) but slashing a million or two from salaries won't change too much. They probably should ask for handout shouldn't they? Seems to be a helluva queue at the government's door for money so why not. It would be an easy start to the restructuring of the industry. Is that morally or economically right? probably not, but if they are trying to save their own arses first it will probably happen. No harm in asking is there?? The question is after getting the bailout would they take to their own salaries?
