What is the dead wood in your eyes?

RITA says number of the punters is increasing if I read correctly. The value of those punters is the question. Maybe it is time to justify those big salaries. I think from the entities from the HRNZ down need to get on the same page. Overhauling things is hard work. I would just start again. It was just off the top of my head and I took no pleasure in it. I think it can all be fixed as long as there is the will and the coordination of everyone involved. From the outside looking in it looks very divisive and a mish mash of band aid solutions.

I look at the RITA site and read their flashy news reports etc to try and understand their remedies for the very big picture stuff. There remedies seem plausible but they seem to come with caveats which lessen the realism of what is written Out of that list in the original post, RITA would not be responsible for most of them (?) so what responsibility do HRNZ and the actual clubs take in all of this decline? Are all of the industry participants disconnected from each other?

At least with one of those bets you will be happy to see continual losses... But I say show the faith and buy UPROOTED

Will Covid 19 be the tipping point that shatters the illusion of solvency of horse racing in NZ? When I read or recall about the following in harness racing ( and a bit of gallops) I wonder how on earth things will ever get better. It is pretty depressing but can someone tell me how racing will ever get to a sustainable position again? Mick Guerin's article on the state of racing Lincoln Farms articles on the state of racing RITA carrying $45 million worth of loans The enormous annual cost of the TAB website to the tune of $17 million The decline of Northern harness racing where they can't even get full fields or 10 races per meeting Breeding numbers declining to record lows The loss of industry supporters eg PGG The debacle of the Alexandra Park apartment complex and debt associated with it The decline of grass track meetings around the North Island over summer The negative perception of the RIU INCA and shroud of doubt it casts over the whole industry The unease over horse and dog welfare by the public with several public flashpoints The continual back biting and lack of genuine consultaton between sectors of the industry The rising trend of sports betting and expectations of those sports The impending closing of tracks around NZ and the implications of those The black hole of costs associated with owning and training horses compared to stakes level The unknown nature of stake levels in the future Winter postponements of meetings (mainly gallops) due to poor track conditions The continual export of horses overseas which affect quality and quantity of races in NZ The thriving Australian galloping scence with its high stakes The disassociation to racing by the younger generation

https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/auckland-does-the-leg-work-to-prove-horse-numbers-warrant-more-racing-at-the-park/ So Lincoln Farms, who seem to have have the ear of ATC and are miles ahead of HRNZ getting information out, have produced this article with a table of horses who will be able to race. However, it just goes to show the lines of communication are so poor that a club of ATC's size cannnot even pass on their investigative numbers to HRNZ or RITA with this paragraph. “Clearly the people who have drawn up this calendar haven’t had information like this. We don’t know who they consulted. I wonder if they even know what the numbers are in Waikato?” So who made the harness racing calendar? Did HRNZ do it and they did not confer with the ATC? Did RITA do it and none of their 595 employees have the foresight to ask the club? It is good to know that racing in the north will soon have large numbers of horses to race. Horse number crisis over. He discovered 97 horses would be fit enough to race in June, enough he says for at least a seven or eight-race card at Alexandra Park every week. “And in July there’ll be another 75 ready so we’ll be in clover.” The trainers named a further 48 horses whom they expect to be ready by August and another 11 in September. “And those figures don’t include 68 new qualifiers. There’ll be one ready in May, 34 in June-July, 21 in July-August and 12 in August-September.”

Matt Markham is right but seems to be the way. Twitterrati seem to know everything before it announced. How do Lincoln Farms get an article up about the dates before HRNZ? Whoever is in charge of the dissmenination of important information needs a shake up. Good to see Cambridge and Auckland sharing dates.

Too tired after the race of its life at HQ.

Whereas the facebook harness owners all race in lily-white?
-
Arcano? Good bet that night.

2 suspensions in the last 10 harness meetings held in NZ for whip use. The drivers might be slowly getting there. I still support the whip rule in NZ as 10 times is plenty to get the best of the horse (if indeed it does) and watching races I don't really see any difference in race finishes between the previous and current rule except that the floggers have gone and it is much better to watch.

Since you don't read posts I will repost what I said 5 hours agao.

This is perfectly put. A concise summation of what he does.

You mean the ones you sent to me on behalf of Fartoomuch? I don't stalk you. I just ask questions about what you say because I think you are full of it.

Is giving this much back prudent or a luxury ATC have?
-
Happy Soky dealt to Christian Cullen. No surprise as the 'Happy' family are a very good breed.

I think this article is quite disappointing reading it again. Seems to be 100% Auckland and a 0% Cambridge. Seems to be very self centred and a lack of compromise that might benefit harness in the North. Why couldn't one suggest 2 weeks at Auckland and 1 at Cambridge? How keen will Waikato trainers be to go Auckland every week with their 'inferior' horses? Can someone explain this 105% to me?

I have seen the calendar. Gallops will resume once the sythetic tracks are ready to go so it harness racing 6 days a week until then.

Their father is at Forbury so they are acting up while he is away.
-
Won't matter. What Brodie has in his blood is undetectable to modern science.
-
It took 124 replies but at least we can answer the question of this thread now. Brodie is at Forbury. Unfortunately, after reading this, the TAB know where he is now too. Run, Brodie, Run!

I thought you had a business to run? Wouldn't think you would be too worried about PMs disappearing from your second favourite harness racing chat site.

Shame, you would make a good presenter on Trackside. Keep it real.
