Unfortunately this big one can't get out the window so I am stuck with her form in Brodie's bar. That person could have put 100K on an All Star in some scrubby race and got the same return. Instead they put themselves at risk over a period of time with all sorts of things like form, goal kicking, referees, red cards etc etc. TAB must have been using the situation as a PR exercise. The person wins and they lose 18K... so what.
-
Unlike the TAB to be Father Christmas. Were the opening odds a mistake?

$1.48 is great money....now where is that loose $100 000 I have.. That semi was pure dross. Wales got to the outside of SA's backs prettily easily but couldn't capitalise except in their try. England will stuff them.
-
If South Africa win the semi tonight, England will have to go through Australia, NZ and South Africa in the knockout stages to win the World Cup. If done, that would have to rank as one of the greatest achievements in WC history.
-
A very memorable event lol. Nobody gives a hoot but it is cannon fodder for the build up to the final.

Take your sandwedge. Will be handy if you get bored.

I agree with nearly everything you say YK but not the bit about hanging your head in shame. In the context of it being a game of rugby there is no need.
-
The next time the English win the football world cup will be at a similar time to when man lands on Mars...

So who is taking the $1.15ff on Oscar B tomorrow off 40 over 2400 in a field of 14? He is an amazing trotter but he wouldn't want to drop another 20 or 30 to his mark or is he that good it doesn't matter?
-
Quite incredible but they must rate him very highly. Must be massive money to be made in Oz.

We play like Ireland

I don't really have any horses worth backing but how often do you see 3 horses under $2 on opening? Surely a mistake from the TAB? Anybody got anything?

Dream of Glory Inquiry - What a joke
Happy Sunrise replied to Happy Sunrise's topic in Trotting Chat
It was well within his enormous margin of error. As we all know his performance is not subject to a standard. This start is maybe forgivable as it happened near the start and he may have missed it but his letting trot races start when horses are miles off the start is not. -
Dream of Glory Inquiry - What a joke
Happy Sunrise replied to Happy Sunrise's topic in Trotting Chat
In the context of starts generally I find this amusing, bordering on farcical. And if it had been declared a non starter then what about the people who backed it? So, unless there were some hefty win bets on it what was the point of the inquiry after running third? Mind boggles. -
Just wait for Mark Purdon to jump on it. Aqua Sancta can't hold him much longer.

Dream of Glory Inquiry - What a joke

Iraklis? -
What a bloody joke the stipes even consider the Dream of Glory inquiry. It gets inconvenienced at the start for sure, but lots of mobile trot races have horses breaking in front of others who are consequently miles out of position, not just a metre or two as Dream of Glory was, but 10 or 20 metres or even more, and no one cares. Not even a false start. I would have thrown all the toys out if they landed on the side of Dream of Glory.

Must be all over now surely. Monbet is out of all racing and will have an extended spell after pulling up with a leg injury after trialling at Ashburton last week. Trainers Greg and Nina Hope are facing the prospect that Monbet will be retired, despite the injury not being as serious as some of the trotter's previous problems. Bringing the horse back to trotting's top level took its toll on Monbet, and Greg Hope believes it is directly responsible for Monbet going amiss last week. The scenario means there is little incentive for the Hopes to try again after Monbet's recovery. "With the handicapping system the way it is there is not much point bringing him back," Greg said. "He isn't retired yet, but he could be - we will make a decision later on. "He was just coming back to it, but by the time we got there it had taken its toll on him."

Horrific treatment of Thoroughbreds about to hit our screens
Happy Sunrise replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
I will explain this bit. ABC present a programme which has no interest in trying to find any balance whatsoever and have the temerity to put up helplines at the end of it. Not one person spoken to in any rehoming programme or any positive things about animal welfare that the industry is doing. No wonder you need to put up hotlines at the end when you deliberate set out to prove a point with no balance. For example, they never followed up on the trainer who didn't know his successful horse was at an abattoir after he had passed it onto someone else. I am not excusing anyone or anything as the whole show was deeply unsettling but who has the interests of the horses at hear? Certainly not the ABC or the NSW racing. It is the usual story in my opinion - the dedicated individuals who want to make a difference. -
Horrific treatment of Thoroughbreds about to hit our screens
Happy Sunrise replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
After watching it, I have tried several times to write a response but words fail me in every regard, from the abattoir workers, to the racing industry's indifference and even to the ABC itself. It just seems the world is certainly fucked at times. -
Would you ever back it for the win in the future? ?

All Blacks 25 18. Similar to you Flag,

I would imagine The Galah has Fraud (race 2 5ff and 1.7ff) rated number one tomorrow. He was super unlucky in his previous run at Oamaru. Then the Mot run had lots of merit after being carved up at the start and then at Timaru last start he worked his way to the parked position from a wide back row draw so it didn't pan out. It is a very thin race so and each way bet all day. My roughie remains Maranatha Atlas at 11ff in the first. Just got to keep it together over the first 100m. DD's is in again Flag, you better go again.....

Won't be many left standing in the open grades soon. What did I read the other day? Possibly one North Islander in the Cup. Never thought I would say this but thank god for the Aussies. Though, John Dunn is the lone crusader. I have been impressed by his aggressive driving and his willingness to mix it up the All Stars.
