Make no mistake Jillo was a hard man, no snowflake would have cut the mustard in his day. Hard but fair and a gentleman. Something this Industry is lacking. Losing people like Jillo and Noel Eales proves how irreplaceable they are. Hard to imagine in their heyday they would NZTR get away with the shit they are nowadays RIP Jillo, an honour to have known you

Freda, This is devastating . I so feel for Denby-Rose but there was so much going on in that race, her horse was so green throughout the running, the leader rolling in and off the fence , and the challenger in the Court colours definitely contributing, so I'm prepared to cut her a mountain of slack.

Stipes
-
But surely the Stipes must sign off the track as safe before racing begins. I'm really pissed off they use the jockeys as crash test dummies. A: If I was a jockey I'd be so faqn wild I would want to hang some incompetent prick, track management/stipes , how does this happen. B: Jockeys and Trainers need to stop paying fines, it's so inconsequential as opposed to going out riding on an UNSAFE slippery track that trainers reps and owners who set foot on the track knew it was slippery and dangerous and the meeting was in doubt. Sharrock , the time has come. Heads need to roll NOW

Do we need to run the 1000 & 2000 Guineas later in the season, will that help ?

And then along came Winston alright ! PGF fund for a major city venture, but we won't go there.... The more you think about Winston the more he screws everything up. Bailing out the TAB 3 days before the budget because they were flat broke and couldn't pay for the horrendous betting garbage site. Should have let them go broke and cleaned out the deadwood then the whole Industry could have had a major reset. What better time , Covid , no Racing . And then $9 million for the 3 flagship races in an earlier time. He gets his arse kicked in the last election and says nothing , doesn't front up , and now a year out from the election , he miraculously appears again. There was the protest appearance at Parliament to be fair but just another bad judgement call. Mind you, that is probably an indictment on the strength of Labour and National. But that's another story, watch out for the Wolf in - an Armani suit .

~Restricting betting by Kiwis with 'foreign' agencies...
Kihikihi Kid replied to holy ravioli's topic in Galloping Chat
Good Grief. It's all over reading that "vision statement" Isn't that a rehash of Bayliss the coke & hookers fiends mission statement ?? It's a pity that dinosaur Peters bailed out the TAB 2 days before the Budget because it was all over red rover for the TAB. And that would have been the best thing ever, get rid of the deadshits and start from scratch. However missed that opportunity and the decline and the bullshit continues -
Grasshopper has much to learn about the NZ TAB....

Doesn't the $200 million pertain to this season ? -
This clown should be fired !!! It's the biggest week in Racing in NZ , Bar None !! Get rid of this idiot immediately

The camber is a work of art , fk me ....

Wasn't it even Ellerslie and Rotorua on the same day back at Easter
-
Surely NZTR are trying to find a venue to hold the card asap. If not , you got major , major problems
-
Should have happened 20 years ago - Ellerslie closed down!
Kihikihi Kid replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
No mention of Avondale ?? I saw this as the holy grail for them . They were going to be the BIGGGEST winners of Ellerslie's track upgrade. At least 2 to 3 years more solid racing guaranteed and who knows , May have been enough to make them a much needed part of racing infrastructure in the North again. Am I missing something or don't they want to be part of this Brave New World. I hope not but fear the latter. The track itself is ok to race and bet on , right handed and in Auckland. -
What a farkn insult not to rustle up a commentator for the trials. Jason, you should have just bowled up into the box and called them ! Stuff the politics bullshit
-
Actually Des had a knack of winning the 1st race of the year at Ellerslie. Ocean Monarch owned by C D Mann Bonnybard the other. Think they were Highweights back in the day when then ran them all year round. Was Paul Sugden involved ? Lance Douglas was probably Des's last apprentice. Trained by Lance's Dad , Bunvaro the noted mudlark by Alvaro. That was some trip back in the day...

Kihikihi's Finest Warwick Robinson ! Met him in later years, remember his association with R R Cheak Cyrly Wave Sound Wave etc. Later years when he came back from overseas he rode Kessem ? was it Pretty sure he rode a winner for DJ Riordan

NZ Derby 2022 - La Crique drawn 1 - Final Field.

More to the point, amazing how Kelt has bounced back. Thoiught he went broke , didn't/couldn't pay the sponsorship money to Hawkes Bay racing for the $2 million Kelt. O and that speech re the $3 million Kelt the year after, never happened. Think he also screwed the Hawkes Bay Rugby team , financially , not physically ... Copped a hiding at Mt Maunganui taking on the boy racers NY Eve. But the best was trying to drive through Police barricade at Hastings on NY Day. Assaulting cops on the way. Not for me. Happy for O'Sullivan/Scott though, the owner, not so much -
Surely this can't be true ??
-
You would hope so Chief

Is Half the NZ Jockey Population Suspended or Injured?
Kihikihi Kid replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
I was on Gee Cee but McNab does deserve a holiday for that stock car impresssion. Innes should have got 6 months for the non trying ride on Ess Vee Are at Te Rapa .. -
An answer either way on this would be beneficial ..

Kihikihi Kid replied to Reefton's topic in Galloping Chat
For crying out f u c k i n g loud !!!! "He is a deeply customer-centric leader with extensive experience in key areas of focus for our organisation' "....will allow us to drive further revenue growth" FFS , someone please tell Mike 'one D' Tod that our Industry is in dissarray and in dire straits. -
A couple of the best trials seen for a wee while in NZ!!
