The higher value his monthly salary is, the longer he'll stay based, until things get tough... Greyhound accomplishments https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/on-air/mike-hosking-breakfast/audio/phil-holden-theres-no-prevalance-of-this-type-of-behaviour-in-nz/ https://www.magic.co.nz/home/archivedtalk/audio/2017/12/should-greyhound-racing-be-banned-.html One that'll be on his current CV = https://www.nzshearing.co.nz/executive-committee/ Does anyone know if the animal images in the final link are horses or dogs?

Key point. There is far more than one problem in the industry. Throwing millions at an AWT, two or three does not get RITA out of the shit at all. Their entire focus should be on cutting costs and increasing revenue. If they ARE somehow are successful completing step one then and only then should they think about the longer term. Entire industry demise is so eminent. AWT's will mean nothing if they don't fix right here and now first. It's not the time for long term investment.

Don't hold your hopes too high. For the greyhounds, he did nothing positive that I can remember and was only used as a tool by Rendle (with Barsi on the board too) to build the Cole empire & look where that's got the code. Can we get you to take Glenda off our hands too? That'd be one scary threesome...

Not to promote the dark side, but Rendle's time was before BOAY's time. https://www.Channel X.co.nz/forums/index.php?/topic/73787-open-letter-to-craig-rendle/&tab=comments#comment-566727

Phil Holden is mates with Craig Rendle, who was the GRNZ board chair when Phil got the CEO job there. I don't think you'll find many BOAY members with good things to say about either of them. Rendle is the big owner and funding behind the Cole kennel in the CD. The Cole kennel is the one facing animal cruelty charges which are to be heard by the court next month. I also believe Rendle has or owns or is joint ownership of a horse or two... maybe more? Connect the dots...

Even more importantly, never underestimate the effects of coming COVID-19 recession and our populations overreaction.

The newest spin doctor has been heard from... Hey Glenda, where's Homebush Connor these days? https://www.grnz.co.nz/greyhounds/profiles.aspx?AnimalID=30810 We were trying to work out where he was going to retire too a while ago, not long after his final race. https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/racing/300016801/anger-at-winston-peters-make-racing-great-again-leads-to-petition-against-government-funding-for-racing-industry Hughes said GRNZ work closely with its welfare committee, which is made up of a group of independent specialists, with veterinary and welfare experience. She said GRNZ support independent research into the health and wellbeing of the Greyhound population and reiterated the independent Racing Integrity Unit (RIU) monitors compliance with all welfare policies and standards for all participants in greyhound racing ensuring the highest standards are maintained. "We have programmes in place to ensure that all dogs are cared for from the time of their registration at birth, right through their racing career and into retirement," Hughes said in a statement released to Stuff. "We have our own kennels around the country where retired Greyhounds go to for a full health check and assessment before being adopted out to the many families we have on our waiting lists."

Just can't help yourself... https://www.grnz.co.nz/News/2512/Dog-Food-Financial-Hardship-Scheme-for-Trainers Terms and Conditions ● The GRNZ Dog Food Financial Hardship scheme is to support trainers who do not have the financial means to fund ongoing purchases of dog food while racing has been suspended. ● Any funding provided by GRNZ under this scheme may be recovered by making deductions from future stake payments when racing begins again. ● Funding during this time will only be provided up to 75% of the actual purchase price for coprice (including GST). ● Any additional food purchased other than coprice will be at the trainer’s expense and will not be covered by the scheme. ● Funding may not be provided for food purchased prior to receiving written approval from GRNZ. ● Funding will only be provided by way of reimbursement upon the submission of a receipt or proof of purchase dated from 27 March 2020 after an application has been approved. ● Funding will only be provided for food purchased during the period that greyhound racing is suspended in New Zealand. ● All funding decisions shall be at the sole and final discretion of GRNZ. ● Applications may be scaled or declined in circumstances where GRNZ considers the purchase volume to be excessive, or where incomplete information has been supplied. ● GRNZ reserves the right to amend the scheme at any time.

Sounds like Big Time LTD must have some funds that they need to return to the Crown... I'm pretty sure she'd be one of the 8 people they claimed for under the scheme...

Key factor which many haven't got on the band wagon. What if every other trainer/handler/owner turned there back to the Cole kennel from day one? Then they would have had to power to deal with him in their own fashion. If they were let to continue racing, on their own, who would have been boxing and catching their 6, 7 or 8 520m dog fields at Wanganui? There's nothing in the rule book that says anyone has to help other trainers. Those that did, especially those that did regularly, have shown their true colours and shouldn't have a place in the sport either. Why help them by training their hand me downs? All the kennel was after was 1/2 of what otherwise would have been nothing from the dogs. For taking their greyhounds, Craig, Lisa and Brendon thank you. Add in the numbers of 50% purse money from them to the $2m plus in earning to their total from last season and where does that put them? More importantly, you HAVE to ask yourself, where has it put you? Was the few weeks without racing tough on you? Did you need to beg, borrow and steal to feed there dogs for them? How many bags of two minute noodles have you had the last couple of months? I'll bet it wasn't too tough for them. No two minute noodles at their places. Their bank accounts might have dropped a wee bit at worse...

Wouldn't it be great if she was some sort of a plant by the authorities? That'd make me instantly change how I personally felt about her decision to move down there in the first place!

Dore never did reply to my final query in the chain... Michael, Is Mr P Ferguson’s public training license on probationary overview? Does Mr P Ferguson’s license have any conditions associated with it?
-
I've only had one chain of correspondence with Dore. Let's just say it didn't leave a good taste in my mouth whatsoever. I quickly learned that integrity was far from his depth. This was the initial email I had sent to Dore and copied in Hughes (whom did not respond). Hi Michael, Can you please explain to me how an admitted breach of 62.1 (i) is fined under the minor infringement table by the RIU? https://www.grnz.co.nz/catch-the-action/13738/stewards-report.aspx Integrity of the investigation/prosecution process is severely lacking by the RIU. As the GRNZ web site now list you as a contact for integrity matter, I’m asking this question to you. Regards, Charles Unfortunately I'm unable to share the replies to the email chain I had received to my query, because of the confidentiality disclaimer automatically attached to the bottom of his emails. I still don't understand how the RIU fined someone under the minor infringement table using rule 62.1 (cc) when the trainer admitted to breaching rule 62.1 (i), which isn't in the minor infringement table because it isn't a minor infringement. Where's the integrity Michael? Glenda? RIU? JCA? Winston? INCA?

So the Deloitte report was pushed aside because the author didn't engage with the NZRB prior to submitting it. How does that “illustrative or indicative” report look now Glenda? Sounds to me the report was spot on and the NZRB's research was rubbish. Good going industry destroyer... https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/racing-board-ignored-deloittes-warning-about-significant-risks-with-new-betting-platform/ ‘Desktop exercise’ In a reply to a letter from the then NZTR board chairman Dr Alan Jackson, NZRB chair Glenda Hughes described the Deloitte report as “a desktop exercise which did not engage with NZRB or draw on the most up to date data.” That meant it could only ever be “illustrative or indicative.” “Many of Deloitte’s assumptions vary significantly from NZRB’s.” Hughes pointed to the KPMG report which concluded the assumptions on which its fixed odds betting business case was built were conservative. Hughes also took issue with Deloitte’s reservations on punter numbers and activity. “NZRB has demonstrated a strong capacity to acquire new customers and very deliberately manages the positioning of its tote and fixed odds products.” On outsourcing, Hughes said various reports made it clear there was potential value in it longer term. “The board accepts this but there are significant risks, including loss of control, which will require careful management.” Allen was also very critical of the Deloitte report, and said it did not do enough research into the fixed-odds platform. “In our view they have significantly understated the value we are going to create from this,” he said at the time. So confident was Allen and the board that the initiatives would immediately boost profits, they decided to increase by $24 million the payout they would make to the racing industry over the next two years. Neither Hughes nor Allen survived on the board to see the disastrous outcome.

I seem to have developed a bit of a dry cough, mild fever and some loss of taste. Have I contracted Covid-19? No, I've just been reading the following news article. https://www.thegreyhoundrecorder.com.au/news/cole-train-remarkable-win-streak-comes-to-an-end-28650

I agree Aquaman, but that is the rule as it was/is written. I also believe that alcohol has to potential to do damage to an innocent bystander more than weed does. However, anyone of age can run up to the bottle store and get their daily fix today within the law, go back home and get on the internet to read another story about the NZ police bust of someone caught with their car boot full of weed. It's been like that for how many years now? What our own personal belief is doesn't effect how the rules of GRNZ or the laws of the Crown should be enforced. Disclaimer - A box of 12 beers lasts me several months and I haven't had even a hit of weed for roughly 35 years.

I seem to remember when Rendle, while still on both boards, pulled all of his dogs out of the North region and transferred them to the CD. A very odd decision to make at the time, to ship all of his dogs away from the club he lived next door to and was running. That was the first signal I can remember of the eventual masterplan beginning to unfold. Where is he now and where has he been? He's been the most successful owner and such a brilliant addition to the industry, why didn't GRNZ and Fenemor has him plastered all over the GRNZ website?

That owner in tall standings from HeadQuarters on the Viaduct? He seems to have a certain way with his words.

Wait for the trainers to start lining up at the JCA to quash a Stewards ruling that their dog fell or that another trainers dog did fall. In the past, there have been several instances of decisions by Stewards which were obviously "convenient" falls, for protecting the form line of a dog due to clubs selection criteria. The same sorts of instance on the track can now be conveniently "missed" by a Steward to preserve a dogs future starting position in a favourable field or from a favourable box draw.. Just wait for it... McInerney, Wales and Fahey could all benefit from top dog's selective short sightedness which have been addressed under differing situations in the past. Beam me up Scotty. I know it'll happen before you've even thought about it....
