Number of tracks has contributed to the drop in horses in training. The current state of NZ tracks you need all the tracks you can get. Entain think Ellerslie is going to be Sha Tin and that model will work over here, I'm not convinced are you? -

Exactly and it didn't work before , what makes them think its going to happen now? I'd expect a bit more understanding of how the industry operates from Wagering Experts.

I'm skeptical about any of the money being thrown about having a positive impact and that this Entain have a clue what they are doing. Of course they are going to get big smiles and thumbs up from big studs, big stables and big syndicates while they are throwing $$$ about with wild abandon but they don't seem to realise the bottom makes the top happen. The lack of funds being distributed at the lower end is utterly farcical.

It's just opinions in the end, but I do not think the winner in NZ wd have won the Sandown race, certainly not the Sydney races. But it matters not what I say as we will likely never know.

But you could still put a field like this together for 5% of the prize money they are racing for , so what's the point ? It ain't The Everest field, probably never be with 3yos.

Winner is good for NZ , would he have won any of the 2yo races at Rosehill or Sandown on Saturday? Unexposed form , I've heard it all now.

Better field than the 2yo G3 at Ellerslie that's for sure. -
Remains to be seen if the 2nd horse is a good horse, the winner certainly is decent for NZ but it would want to be at that price. From a Black Type perspective that race was higher than the KM (yes I know it's a sales race closed off etc) but for goodness sake anyone who thinks that race was deserving of G3 status needs a lobotomy, it's also much worse than when Taranaki had it.

They are not really any different though are they. Rinse and Repeat "These are the best yearlings I've ever seen this year!" "This lovely colt I could see running in the KM then running in the Guineas and off to our Aus Stable to target Aus riches." "This Lovely Filly is an Oaks filly that i could see at the KM , then off to the Oaks etc" "The last horse sold is usually the best." "This horse did something like one of our superstars did in the past etc etc" It obviously works!

Yes good point , certainly don't envy the punting they do everyone expects you to win and everyone is an expert after the race. IMO also kiwis aren't great losers on the punt.

Book 2 prices do look a bit painful, certainly auctioneers are having to work very hard to get bids on some.
