  1. I see that One Change is co-owned by All Stars Racing Stables so that will be the reason M Purdon was driving as a part-owner he would have to drive the horse.
  2. We have had this discussion countless times. Lamb is useless but he is untouchable. For some reason he is a protected species, the worst starter Addington has ever had, yet he is unaccountable for his numerous stuff ups (at least one a meeting). Unfortunately, we are stuck with the inept idiot until he decides to retire, hopefully that is soon.
  3. Well deserved again and the fine should have been doubled. He was fined $500 for the same offence just a few weeks ago, yet in spite of that he does the same thing again. Clearly, a slow learner. He deserved the three months suspension due to being a serial whip flogging offender, but fine should have been $1000. Well done RIU. The next step is to ban whips.
  4. I am not a critic like many of this forum. I referred to Mr Williams as "young Tim" in reference to me. I am an old bastard. Tim is not. Now let's see if you can find something else to whinge about.
  5. I think you are being a tad harsh on young Williams. OK, he is not as good a driver as Natalie Rasmussen or Mark Purdon. Few are... both are world class drivers, Rasmussen in particular. Williams does a good job, he is currently third on the Drivers' Premiership with 61 wins for the season to date. And before you say it is because he drives for the top stable take a look at his drive on Dibaba last night, it was top class. Williams drives for many of the countries top stables regularly so he is a respected horseman within the industry.
  6. Congratulations on a fine win. I am looking forward to your good horse Majestic Man and Kings Landing clashing in future. Both horses are what harness racing needs, especially in the trotting ranks that has been weak lately. Both horses are exciting prospects. All the best in the future with the horse.
  7. You not backing Gotta Ticket? ?
  8. Southland harness has always been great. Southland is the only area in NZ where local horses measure up to the Canterbury raiders. The area has a rich tradition in harness racing second only to Canterbury in my opinion. You are right mate an excellent days racing. I never had a bet either but enjoyed the races that I have seen.
  9. ??? No virus or break... sorry to interrupt your conspiracy theory. Letterkenny Boy made a flyer and was expertly positioned into the one-one by Tim Williams only for the Lee-trained Bigandme driven by C. Lee to veer outwards taking Letterkenny Boy and Tartan Robyn off the track with the latter two locking wheels. Next time it might pay to watch the race first before making wild claims. Just a thought!
  10. Yes, there was nothing in the check because as you say the other horse was beaten. The Nat haters look for any excuse. Virgil galloped for a few strides just after the start yet Brodie wants it disqualified? I like the look of Virgil, I have from his first start where he was badly checked during the running, last turning in and flew home. He is still green but he will be one of the best, if not the best, 2-year-old by the end of the season.
  11. The Stunnin' Cullen mare qualified from a mobile over a mile so is dodgy from a stand. Didn't G. Dunn train this horse until recently?
  12. Good to see you so positive and optimistic as usual mate. I thought a legendary punter like yourself would have a few sneaky value bets lined up for Northern Southland. There are good fields and your idols the Dunns have a few in, what more do you want. It is likely that the big three Cheerful, Kings Landing and Majestic Man will dominate the betting but none of this trio are full-proof yet and an upset could be on the cards, especially in Race 6, Southern Lights Handicap Trot. I'm picking my old mate Brendon McLellan will win the first with Ay Boy that will pay OK!!
  13. There are two good trotters races at Saturday's Northern Southland meeting at Ascot Park, Invercargill. The Trotting Oaks (R10) is a good field of fillies headed by Cheerful with Sunnys Little Jestic and Majestic Chevron the main dangers. Race 6 should be a match race between up and comers Kings Landing and Majestic Man. Both horses should go to the top. Kings Landing has 10m advantage on Majestic Man but the one drawer might not be ideal for the All Stars runner? Good racing at Invercargill on Saturday. 14. Clearly, you did not read my reply. Your original post was about World Cup winners. Yes, the list of teams you mention above are decent teams but I left them out because they have never caused an upset and won the World Cup. Fact is the Football World Cup is very lopsided with the top five sides dominating since the contest began.
  15. Most teams have a chance at the Football World Cup. ??? That has to be the best laugh I have had this year. Thank you. The truth is that only eight, I repeat EIGHT, teams have won the World Cup... Brazil (5), Italy & Germany (4), Uruguay, France & Argentina (2), England and Spain (1). There have been 21 World Cups, Uruguay and England have not won since 1950 and 1966 respectively and probably will not win it again. That leaves the Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain or Argentina to take the title. These teams have dominated and will continue to do so. Few others teams have a chance against them.
  16. Don't discount Big Iron (1). My southern spy says this horse is "pretty good." The Shirley runner Star Dude also a chance.
  17. https://www.hrnsw.com.au/trotstv/replays/39976 Bettor's Delight 4-year-old Spankem has won the 2019 Miracle Mile in 1:47.7 with a final quarter in 25.4! Mark Purdon drove the winner aggressively off the gate from his wide draw and he lead almost throughout the race. Stablemate The Fixer ran second with Poster Boy and Chase Auckland the next home. Sadly, ex Kiwi My Field Marshall was pulled up on the journey and looked to have major problems. It was a great night for the All Stars team winning four races. Natalie Rasmussen also won the Lady Drivers' Invitational on the Mark Jones trained The Bus.
  18. It was good to see a young trainer take out the Northern Oaks last night. Well done and congratulations to Jeremy Young, Sailesh Abernethy and the horses' owner. I must admit I don't know anything about Jeremy Young as I do not follow Auckland harness closely. What is his background, how long has he been in the game? What an aggressive drive from R. May... you don't see that very often. He had the throttle down the whole way and really only the first three in the running had any chance. The first six home all went well, the rest not so good.
  19. Interesting field for the Miracle Mile at Menangle on Saturday night. Tiger Tara's run of inside draws is over drawing the outside, which will make it hard for him to win. The Fixer and Chase Auckland have ideal draws and they will be the hardest to beat. Seven of the eight horse field are New Zealand bred... a great achievement for our breeding industry. 7 9:28pm AINSWORTH MIRACLE MILE (GROUP 1 - GRAND CIRCUIT EVENT) 1609M $1,000,000 Pacers. RBD. 20. I am enthusiast but I don't have a "pretty good idea as to why." I think one reason is that All Stars and R. Dunn are targeting Auckland with their most forward two-year-olds as there are some good races up there in the next few weeks. It is still baffling though. I cannot understand why the likes of the Jamiesons and K. Barron - his two year olds have not measured up so far so surely this would be a great opportunity for them to start paying their way? I would go for Virgil as my top pick at Auckland but I am not sure about the driver T. Cameron. Is he any good?
  21. Whips need to go. I watched the replay and Mr Howard deserved what he got, in fact I think the fine should have been double.
  22. Yes he stuck on really well. I thought he was beaten halfway up the straight but he came again near the line.
  23. https://www.hrnsw.com.au/trotstv/replays/39825 NZ Cup winner The Fixer brilliantly won the Group I, Allied Express Sprint at Menangle last night in 1:50.7 nabbing favourite Tiger Tara near the winning post. Natalie Rasmussen drove the horse prefectly and he will be a chance in the Miracle Mile now after last night's performance.
