Round 3 Interdom Challenge. Will anyone catch Trotsfan?
OLDWHITEMAN replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat

Thanks Cobber. I have been away overseas, just got home. I missed the first night of the Interdoms. Oldwhiteman has seen all the champions... Gammalite, Hands Down, Pure Steel, Sir Castleton, Lord Module, Roydon Glen, Lazarus, Icandoosit, Scotch Notch... to name a few. I think all of these champs would be competitive today?

Are you taking the piss mate? Good job? Starting a mobile should not be difficult, get horses in line, slowly build up speed of the mobile start vehicle so that all horses are in line and then steadily build up speed until the start is reached. Jack Mulcay did it well as did other Addington starters. It's that simple even Stevie Wonder could do it. Lamb can't. Often he takes off while horses are facing the wrong direction and the poor nags have to sprint just to catch the mobile and have run their race before they get to the start. I agree Lamb's mobile starts are better than his standing starts, but as his stands are diabolical, not much improvement is needed to better them. Sack Lamb he is useless.
-
What is a joke is P. Lamb. How many shonky starts does this bozo have to do before something is done? This fellow is the worst starter in the history of harness racing in NZ. After last years NZ Cup start fiasco how he is still in job is baffling. Sack P. Lamb he is incompetent.
-
Yes, it was a good win Happy. I don't agree that the horse should be unruly. I think that would be a stupid move and give the horse no chance of winning the Cup. Starting unruly means the horse is giving 10-20m to his rivals, more if there is another P. Lamb starting fiasco like last year. I thought the best run of the race was The Fixer who ran home well after being given as easy run as it was his first start for the season. I think he can make it two cups in a row.

Agree. He ran home well last start.

I won't be betting hate the Washdyke track. Ms Oldwhitewoman is having a go though. She reckons Mono Gamble (Race 2) is the go...

My good friend Brodie, I think you a bit of the mark here mate. Oscar Bonavena is not the first top trotter that the All Stars have trained. This is nothing new. Don't you remember a very good All Stars trotter, Icandoosit? Now there was a phenomenal trotter. No disrespect to the horses in last nights race but none of them are in the same class as Icandoosit. Also, again no disrespect, but apart from Sundee's Son and Marcoola, Oscar Bonavena didn't have a lot to beat, as the rest of field average.
-
My good friend Brodie, you are on the money again and I agree with you. There is nothing wrong with the name considering the colt is by Terrortolove. And let's not forget that actual Islamic terrorists have killed tens of thousands of people worldwide for the past 40 years or so.
-
My good friend Brodie, I think you are on the money with your thoughts. Addington should try a few Saturday nights because as you say if promoted properly with good tucker, cheap drinks and perhaps music, it could be popular. I think the reason why they have trots on Friday night is because they probably get more turnover through the TAB that way? Friday nights many have a few after work and bet at the pub while there. Down at the local dive, The Waterfront, in Blenheim, this happens. The more Speights that goes down the tube the longer the queue at the TAB and boy do they back some clangers. Nags astute punters like you and I would not touch mate. The bosses at the TAB know that a few ales makes most men think they are super punters like you mate.

Dunns have improved him. I thought Classical Brigade showed a lot of heart, far more than when he was trained by McGrath. He was not very brave before now looks like he is. Early days though.

Turn It Up or Turn it Out or Turn Me Off?
OLDWHITEMAN replied to Happy Sunrise's topic in Trotting Chat
I think that is a bit harsh Hunter. Kayla Marie has done a good job but she is unlikely to be competitive up in the grades... few mares are unless they have the ability of the likes of Carabella, Armalight, Adore Me and Blossom Lady. The Whitecocks are breeders and I think it makes sense to retire Kayla Marie to the breeding paddock. After all, they still have Princess Tiffany racing and KM is not in her league. Younger mares have more chance of leaving good stock too. -
Thanks. I got a bit, and Ms Oldwhitewoman reinvested some of her winnings from the Alister Black winners at Addington a few weeks ago, so she is happy. OWM is in the good books lately!! Frankly, I am not that keen on the horse but I noticed that it is now off unruly. Don't think too many noticed that but I did. I thought the wider front line draw would help it step and it did. The horse generally runs on and it was a weak field too. I was surprised how he flew home so looks like he could win one or two?

My good friend Brodie I am an Apple user too. I have had not problems on my MacBook Pro but I can help you . When the results or fields page is opened there is a Expand All Races + button. Click on this and all fields/results are expanded. OK? Now if you have Expand All Races - that means you have clicked - on a field or result. For example say you expanded all races but then went to Race 5 looked at it then clicked on the - to close that field. If you do this the top Expand All Races + become Expand All Races -. Following so far. If you scroll to the top and click on Expand All Races - it will change to Expand All Races +. Click on this and the fully expanded panes will reappear. Hope this helps mate.

I think that was a bit of Nathan Williamson stable negative team driving. ? Pop out in front of the hot favourite then try and hold him up as long as possible, hoping the stablemate that was leading, gets enough of a break to beat UMC. Didn't work...
-
Probably, but the Brodster would have been fined for overuse of the whip!!?
-
Team driving had little to do with the win. The main factor in winning the race was the No.1 draw. Belle of Montana did the least work in the race and that is why it had a slight advantage at the finish. Geurin was over the top with his comments, "best drive of the season" etc. Get real Mick, Ms Oldwhitewomen could have driven that horse to win. Sit in the trail behind the best filly in the country and wait for the passing lane. Even Stevie Wonder or my good friend Brodie could have driven the winner from there.
-
Good luck with your filly, I hope that she runs well. Great draw. All the best for Saturday.

Perseverance Road has been retired and no surprise as she is older than me!! ?? Race 2 NIGHT 'N DAY PARK TROT Show Video There was a delay to the start of this race due to PERSEVERANCE ROAD falling to the track after completing its preliminary. PERSEVERANCE ROAD - fell to the track after completing its preliminary and was reluctant to regain its feet for some time. Scratched by order of Stewards. A veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from symptoms of colic as well as signs of a cardio vascular complaint with treatment being administered. When spoken to regarding his intentions with the mare, trainer/driver A Lowe advised he would be retiring her from racing. Notwithstanding Mr Lowe's intentions Stewards stood the horse down pending a veterinary clearance including an ECG report and the completion of two satisfactory trials.

There was good money on offer. The Alister Black runners paid well, I put $10ew on both for Msoldwhitewoman... she is happy. The All Stars runner Virgil also a great price $4.80 for a well performed horse... I did alright. My good friend Brodie, I thought an astute punter like yourself would have backed all three of these runners?
-
Good effort by the Whitelocks to breed the first two home in NZ Oaks... good rugby and racing family.

Harness trainer B. Hill used the technique on his good mare Carabella. But unlike years past he probably not got any horses in his stable worth using the technology on at the moment? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=2ahUKEwim_cbdjKHiAhU97nMBHUcKCIoQFjABegQIAxAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stuff.co.nz%2Fsport%2Fracing%2F6600073%2FStar-mare-Carabella-back-on-her-feet&usg=AOvVaw1zhRXx8GDMUkuvNbeIeVKM
