  1. A person i know last week put a bet on a Addington dogs power play to win 2k. The bet was not a winner. They were immediately cut to $40 profit max on Power Plays. Nice of Entain.
  2. Where did you read all this?
  3. Brodie you never cease to amaze me with your short-sightedness (lets not forget your ongoing head-in-sand views on whip restrictions). Woodlands breed well over 100 foals per year. Part of this, by their own admission, is doing their part for the industry to help get foals on the ground. In some cases they are selling for less than the advertised service fees. But when you own the stallion or have free service entitlements, that is not applicable. Also pays to remember than with, say, 120 foals on the ground, only so many can go through to the yearling sale. The bottom half, mostly by pedigree, but also some on type, get put through the weanling sales. Other key reasons for this are as follows 1) get new sire stock in to stables 2) give industry players with lesser budgets the chance to buy horses at more realistic prices 3) Get some cash coming in during the winter months. A big stud with lots of stuff has plenty of outgoings. 4) Reduce the workload of staff who have just weaned 100+ foals and now have to prepare them for the yearlings sales. Just not practical to prepare 80-100.
  4. anyone who has been closely following him for a while...
  5. Geez how do you get through the day?
  6. it was 2200m last year. HRNZ contributed next to nothing.
  7. Horse had a broken leg and should have been pulled earlier. I am sure there will be a period of reflection and education with the junior driver in question.
  8. I didn't realise Michelle was a vet.
  9. False, Palmerston North's ROI to the industry is better than most clubs. The club is also in a decent financial position. Auckland, well yes. They are an absurd black hole sucking the life out of NZ harness racing.
  10. One of Yole's current horses is a former NZ Group 1 winner
  11. Brodie, go and inhale some Carter Dalgety farts mate. Your anti vax narrative and your constant complaining/whinging about Auckland and the TAB are enough to drive us loopy.
  12. Someone has to hold the lunatic fringe to account in here. Take away any aimed at Brodie and it's a lot more reasonable.
  13. quit your whinging. You obviously do your own form so what does it matter? I was watching Cookson the other night before Race 1. I dozed off almost immediately and woke up and it was Race 10.
  14. So was it the drive or the track that led to this sook?
  15. The HRNZ panel that constructed this new calendar shaped it so this did NOT happen. Michael House, the main architect, pushed to have open class racing in one centre at any one time of the year to avoide this. Canterbury August - November Southland/Otago - December/January North - February - May. But for whatever reason, HRNZ's board, probably at the desire of the ATC, only partially agreed to it. All the open horses should be in Southland for the Invercargill Cup then Central Otago Cup at present.
  16. Easy to call them hopeless but I don't think this is a common occurence. Only mugs would bet the day before anyway.
  17. Brodie can you pull the plug on your computer please then throw it in the Avon River.
  18. Bro your refusal to accept anyone ever does anything wrong is quite disconcerting. You seem to have a real chip on your shoulder with authority figures. That is clear nd evident.
  19. Why would they run 8 x 5 horse fields Brodie? Have you been on the crank again? The Manawatu club may not have huge numbers or large turnover but the return on investment (ie the profit from each race versus what HRNZ fund the meeting) to the industry is MILES better than Auckland.
  20. The Sapere Report suggested getting rid of Ascot Park and with good reason.
  21. Alta Debonair died of a burst aorta. His full brother Warhol did also. And half-brother Alta Las Vegas. I think it is safe to say that, at least in this case, that is was a case of being genetically pre-disposed rather than something nefarious.
  22. How many times do we have to ask you to refrain from smoking drugs before posting on here, Brodie? Dexter had over 4300 New Zealand drives as a junior for 742 winners. Dalgety has had 127 drives in about 13 months. Ludicrous to even try and compare them.
  23. 'not trying' isn't it a fair claim to make. He's 67 now and I think he's just naturally lost his nerve. The great Maurice Holmes had retired (mandatory) by this age. It's only going to get worse has he pushes towards 70. Guys like Z Butcher and A Poutama are less than half his age.
  24. Actually, now that I think about it, you are right. The ATC should bowl over the three towers they have just built at the top half of the straight, taking 7 yesrs and plunging them 200+ million in debt. Close the supermarket and many businesses now paying rent. Build a new grandstand there instead. Re design and camber the track, move the stables and float bay, re measure everything etc etc etc I can't believe I am even having to type this. I'm sure Westpac will loan them another $50m on top of the $100m they still owe.
