The story has just hit the newshub website surely he needs to be removed from the award nominees.
-
I went on to the syndicates section of the love racing site. They haven’t been updated since early 2017 by the looks of things.
-
While his personal ratings arnt where they need to be the party is still polling strongly. I think they will have learned from labour’s constant leader rolling and keep things behind closed doors if they are to chop him. Also think Jacinda’s start might be faiding due to the events of the last couple of weeks and the fact the tax payer are forking our 50k on a special flight to Nauru.
-
Interesting point, would you apply the same logic to someone on business who gets a speeding or traffic fine?
-
Maybe Auckland reactor and Kelly Evander would do the trick?
-
Thanks for the clarification, My understanding is that they don’t run betting syndicates that often and the ones that I have seen have all been through the tab and mostly with a decent group on course. It would be interesting to know if the tab offered the same deal to them in terms of free bet promotions that Ladbrokes did or just moaned. It’s wouldn't have been hard for the tab to match there offer.
-
The group admins can’t control who the group bets with nor is there anyway knowing who is betting with who, sure some will bet offshore but the bulk of posts on the page either just mention the horse and race number or post a tab option. Even if they are betting offshore at least they are generating interest in racing and bring atmosphere to courses with the syndicates etc. Its up to the tab to entice them to bet with them. For a while ladbrokes were offering them promos, how hard would it be for the tab to flick them a few bets on special options to generate interest and get people betting with them? The tab seem more interested in trying to keep my wife on the active accounts list when she has no interest in racing rather than enticing actual punters.
-
Spot on, is an account really active if the only time someone uses it is when they get a free $5 bet every couple of months.
-
If you posted that in response to someone making an error scoring in a competition that they are giving up there time for then I’m sorry but you deserve a decent spray. Running comps and scoring is a thankless task and if there is a mistake or scoring error there is no need to react like that.
-
I also laughed when I saw that the tab are offering a $30 deposit bonus for new accounts when you deposit $10 or more. The minimum credit card top up is $20.
-
Completely agree, it still baffles me that the tab want to charge people to deposit via credit card and that it’s such a manual process to make a withdrawal.
-
Could you really call going round in Southland and at forbury the highest standard?
-
No two placings was her lot. From memory she had about 170 starts for two placings. Not sure of the actual number of starts on each track though.
-
Kelly Evander would be one you would need to check for that sort of record Brodie although may not have had nearly that many starts now I think about it.
-
The let’s worry about it when the heat goes on approach is not one I agree with I think it’s much better to be proactive. Your entitled to your opinion Brodie and good on you for defending that position.
-
So when animals rights do start to attack racing (which they will) in terms of public perception you think it’s better for the industry to stand there and say we have done nothing to address the issues raised rather than to be able to say we have been proactive and taken these steps to address welfare issues?
-
That quote relates to gallops but I think you get the point.
-
Prof. Andrew Knight, Director of Research and Education: Animal welfare science and ethics for SAFE, who believes the sport is fundementally exploitative. Professor Knight also believes whipping the horse is unethical. "If we were to beat any other animal with a stick, it would be prosecuted under the law." He says claims that the whip is merely an 'encouragement' to the horse are false. "They definitely feel the whip, beyond any doubt. It triggers the pain receptors, it wouldn't work if it had not aquired the characteristics of a punisher."
-
Have a look at their website, that will give you a fairly good idea.
-
Common sense would suggest that is the case. It’s actually very simple for Brodie to prove himself correct if he simply shares the article or outlet where he heard that animal rights had no problem with the way whip was being used in nz harness then we can all see for our selves that Brodie is on the money.
-
She’s great for a sound bite but when she gets pressed a little further she struggles with detail in my opinion. I also think they have promised to many things to to many people (including nz first). Heading into 2020 I think she will find out fairly quickly it’s much easier to attack someone else’s record than defend your own and your broken promises.
-
Is that sort of response really required? Your entitled to have a different view and don’t need to answer or justify yourself to anyone but there is no need to fire off insults when you don’t agree with someone.
-
Can you please provide a link for the rest of us to see?
-
Do you have anything supporting that claim? Have you actually spoken to any animal rights groups about it or are you just assuming that because they haven’t made to much noise pubically about it that they were fine with whipping? For me I think it’s good that the industry has tried to take a proactive approach, granted the rule may not be perfect as it stands but at least they can show the public they are/ have taken steps to address animal welfare issues rather than scrambling around after the heat goes on.

Great call as the well almost as good as the guy who commentates Tawa tv.
