  1. You got one that goes 80kph ? any chance of a little share ?
  2. I prefer the horses version -of course they can see images. I have one here who demands replays of The Lone Ranger. Why do we put mirrors in boxes so they think they have company? I suggest you watch replays of the head on footage from yesterday and ponder why this happens at Ellerslie and not other tracks.
  3. There is something unique about the Ellerslie track --how many times do we see a horse skying away from the rail as they near the finish ? They do not do it at other tracks, only Ellerslie. There was a couple of blatant examples yesterday, both resulting in inquiries. Why does this occur? I asked a jockey and he said the horse just swerved violently and like most jocks he was clueless So I thought I would ask the horse-you know, straight from the horses mouth !. Hoss said "I was cruising down the straight next to the running rail and keeping a nice straight line and all of a sudden I saw this mob of horses charging at me from my right, I said bugger this , I'm out of here and scrambled sideways as fast as my little legs could go " Anyone want a used 500 inch T Y set????

There was an article in the N Z Herald detailing the breakdown
  5. The problem is a simple one--the top of the track is wet and the ground below is drier and this causes a skid effect. It can be fixed by maintaining a 'heavy' track but no one wants that. After all winter racing is a very poor relation compared to summer -not only stakes wise, we even have the filly of the year bizo but that year is a lie because its really run over 6 months . Why is this so ? Anyway racing has survived for hundreds of years around the world with cancellations and abandonments -it is a fact of life and we just have to accept such and do our best to mitigate the damage Haivng a local galloper or two work around the course early in the morning would help but not in the case of later rain.
  6. Yes, there are options -I well recall jockeys refusing to ride at Trentham because the weather was TOO COLD
  7. from what I read it appears a senior rider expressed concern about the safety of the track before race 1 but then went and rode in the race Hard to believe someone would be so stupid and risk injury or life if they truly believed their assessment He was entitled to refuse to ride
  8. Brilliant erratic showman No point in giving him riding instructions

Agreed Freda I put him on and he rode well and won, the next run i put down to extremely bad judgment by a youngster but the third ride was unforgivable.Never ever again There is no future for him in this game

Gets 3 months There was a time when penalties were more severe -out for life was not uncommon That is until one jock given 'life' appealed to the Human Rights Commission or somesuch and was given his licence back . His offense? merely driving nails through the heels of his boots -was caught tip toeing in the birdcage
  11. No horse mentioned herein could do what Showgate did over the three days at Riccarton --especially fresh up It is stupidity to try and compare horses -they are either good, moderate or mine

So O pee for me bashes his mount a few more than what is allowed under the stupid rules--cops a $4500 fine. The fine appears to me to high due to the value of the race and if thats the case you would assume 40 years gaol for killing a rich lister and just 20 years for a vagrant. It is obvious jockeys cannot count -perhaps brains are relevant to body size??
  13. I wasn't classifying anything --just asking a question . hence the question marks
  14. Was he not a mudder strking a firm surface ????
  15. Jockeys, trainers, attendants. all masked yet not a single mask visible in the crowd --Aussies
  16. When I started there was just one trial day per year [Takaniniu trials] then later heaps of proper qualifying trials But never a requirement for an apprentice to have a number of trials - -Bridgets dad had none before commencing riding at Ellerslie
  17. Leighton has improved out of sight since joining the Hillis team in the autumn and getting opportunities. I understand she is around 30 years old so is not a raw kid
  18. I have always thought his style similar to the great Shane Dye I have been happy to have him on in 1M +races but I am not sure he knows there is more stakemoney for 4th rather tan 5th
  19. If one had tried to lie over the circumstances the truth of the matter would be known all over Matamata by lunchtime One man bands might succeed with a lie but big outfits never
