Here's a question. Would you rather be alive and then die? Or not be alive at all? That's the situation facing racehorses. They wouldn't be born if it wasn't for horse racing, so which option is more cruel?

I also speak my mind - but there's a distinguised difference between speaking your mind, and attacking anyone and everyone, because you genuinely think you're God. Also - just because you're involved in racing, doesn't mean you're good for it. He brings yet more negative press to the racing game - making us all look like upstart midgets with a god complex. He makes any non-racing person look at our industry and shy away. He's not good for the game. He's a great hype man for his bar, which I applaud him for. He somehow manages to get patrons through doors that are marked by bouncers on either side, even though the bar plays hits from the 80's and features mostly people over the age of 50. He sticks on though. Life hasn't defeated him yet. Lesser people might have given up, so something clearly drives him. I believe it's so he can use the phrase "impeccable sources" every week. But perhaps it's because, if he remains relevant in the media, his kids will be somewhat proud of him.

I guess you're allowed to like anyone you want.... up until they try to derail every aspect of your life out of pure spite.

When does "winter season" officially end? I'd be all for stopping flat racing during winter, but would that give a horse targeting an early spring race enough time?

Indeed, which is the case with 99% of syndications. I guess it comes down to what you can afford and why you want to own a horse.

Yes. 100% of the winnings are paid to all members of the syndicate, even if you have a 0.1% share. If the horse is sold, the funds are divided between members according to their percentage.

Hi guys. Hoping to get some feedback on racing ownership and your preferences. 1) Would you prefer to pay a few thousand + monthly costs of around $180 to have a 5-10% share in a horse... or 2) Pay a one-time $200 fee and then monthly costs of around $18 to have a very small share. (roughly 0.3-0.5%) Option 1 could see a possible positive return on investment Option 2 sees you getting 100% of your share returns, but because those will be small, it's more about the enjoyment of owning a horse and having the social aspect to go along with it. Both options have their positives and negatives, but in the current NZ racing climate, the second option could appeal to those that don't want to invest thousands. Any opinion is greatly appreciated!

The TAB now offers rebates on losing and winning months. It used to be only if you had a losing month.

Not much has changed for me. I've lost a few tipping jobs due to racing being canned in Europe. The day is as usual, except I can't play golf and go out to restaurants.

Sometimes multiple times a week, depending on if I've made a deposit. Yet to win with the bonus bet though!
