  1. Land-based casinos, not online. The online casino business is a completely different beast.
  2. Which racetracks around the world have online casinos?
  3. Having an online casino monopoly is NOT good for Kiwi punters. I'm glad they rejected the bid.
  4. Yeeeah - I just made a post about this on the Ashburton track thread. Terrible ride, and he even goes further back on the inside halfway down the straight instead of staying wide. It's hard for punters to make a profit but rides like this from the best in NZ make you wonder "why bother".
  5. Speaking of tracks - a clear dry fast lane at Waverley today and NZ's best jockey seemingly doesn't want to be there. Gotta feel for punters who backed the short fav in Race 4 (and yes, it's OK to talk through your pocket)
  6. Do jockeys talk to each other during a race? For example - the two jockeys sitting out the back in a slowly-run race "Hey mate, we might need to make our moves soon."
  7. "but hey you will no doubt run back to your pit with SLB loser and say how great you are" Oh Scoobs, there's only so much egg one man can have on their face, and unfortunately for you, you've gone through two dozen in the last two weeks.
  8. That will shut up those who thought she shouldn't return to racing. Toyed with them.
  9. Who pays out on the winner?
  10. Good to see the leaders continuing to win at Tauranga. Why jockeys are happy to sit out the back is beyond me.
  11. There was a $1.6m debutant that won at Sandown yesterday. Drifted to about $5.50 - usually those high-priced runners have much more attention in betting markets.
  12. Ashburton has always had a shocking front-running bias, but that seems to be a growing trend in NZ (Te Rapa, Tauranga) and just about every tight-turning track in the SI - including synthetics.
  13. I see the owner of the other site called Kennedy overrated - among other things. I thought he was against jockey bashing, but anyhow... Kennedy is a good rider, but he had a brain fade shocker with this ride. Hopefully he learns from it, and when things don't pan out at the start, he has a plan b and plan c, that don't involve destroying your horse.
  14. I see - so you're suggesting geoblocking will prohibit Kiwis from betting at offshore casinos, which is why they're allowing 15 to operate in NZ. That would make a lot of sense.
  15. Has Entain provided more racing and more sports betting options? As for the great incentives. They're rubbish compared to Australian corps.
  16. I contacted the DIA yesterday in relation to this but for more selfish reasons. However, despite this being in my field of work, I'm surprised they're allowing this to happen. Having 15 casinos advertising in NZ could saturate the online market and drive problem gambling.
  17. Yeah - seems to only ride well at Pukekohe A lot of SA jockeys used the bounce technique, which I find ungenerous for the horse, and it's a terrible look given the way he rode his mount on Sat.
  18. Kennedy deserves a 1-month suspension for that ride
  19. He's a good horse. 2YOs who win by big margins often flop later in life. Look at Wodeton in Australia. Labeled the Slipper favourite following a big debut win and it's done nothing in two runs since.
  20. The second horse was going past him but he fought back. I thought it was a tough win without being brilliant, but tough horses win plenty of races.
  21. A Kiwi runner in the Slipper is never a moral. Their 2YOs are just so much quicker than ours, but ours mature better as 3/4YOs. He looks like a nice and tough type though. Good to see him fight off the challenger.
  22. How did she fall? Somehow missed this.
  23. If this race (which is brand new) has such cultural significance, why isn't it called The Te Manu Huna a Tane? It's cool to have a haka, don't get me wrong, but I just didn't see the relevance. Does the New Zealand Stakes have a haka performed, or the Aotearoa Classic?
  24. Interesting timing - 2/3min out from the race, when most people are placing their bets, with no odds on screen for minutes. Apparently the race has some cultural significance...?
  25. How about the Pegasus World Cup? That started at $1 million entry, then $500,000 two years later, and now the slot aspect has been pulled entirely. The Everest gets away with it because their promotional team is much better, and it's a race the general public gets excited about. The Kiwi? Yeah, nah.
