Got some of his money from last week ear marked for him today , i've mentioned Hezashocka a couple of times recently , he's in the 2nd @ 18's , had a couple of runs to fit him and Flemington should be right up his alley . Can't see NS beaten but the rest definitely beatable , fancy Mounga against his stable mate .

Over $310 million in Stakes for NSW 2021-22

Obviously the irony of his comment " rewarding mediocrity " was lost on him . To give more weight to the rewarding mediocrity we have another black type give away on Wednesday , the Canterbury Breeders Stakes $90k G3 , top rating is 80 , never worth the money or the black type . This is the definition of rewarding mediocrity . -
More likely as in most instances a YES man , but aren't most industries the same .

He has reached his ambition , reached it years ago , very comfy thankyou , why would he want to exert himself anymore than he has to . BUT he is not the only one .
-
You'd be surprised how many horses have a J/O and trial then head for the paddock , but even just going on those numbers we would be relying on someone in head office doing the numbers and getting it right , i believe that even that would be too big a task for them . If trainers were expected to forward stable lists every 2 weeks with time frames for each individual with expected distance horse would race at then some sort of schedule could be kept . Maybe it could be done , maybe just too big a job for NZTR even at the numbers we have . As you say tho no innovation and that has been lacking for many , many years . But as i have continually bashed on about if you get everyone who wants , to put forward ideas it can be amazing where the gems come from . This tho is the big problem , no one wants to ask the plebs , reason , shite scared of being shown up .

Whilst i agree with this i have to say i haven't talked to one owner who doesn't understand that the industry needs to reset , none have spoken of the need for the type of races listed , most are working at the middle level and below with the odd exception and all say the same thing , too much of the stakes allocation is going to the wrong end of racing . In fact this is the reason most have got out or are in the process of doing so because the latest funding cycle , the ones who are still battling on are constantly monitoring it with one eye on withdrawing from the sport here or moving anything they consider worthy overseas . Overwhelmingly they all say they want race their horses here , most don't want sell anymore , done that and want to start enjoying watching their horses race here . But we have been saying the same old thing for a long time and nothing is changing . -

Can't believe none of our best races made that list . -
NZ isn't big enough that they need every district deciding programming . If NZTR had a division where trainers had to update where they're horses were at and when they might be racing it would give the programmers some numbers to work with . But as i have said in the past a lot of trainers can't even do stable returns when they are supposed to , often waiting till the week they are racing .

Come on Huey get real , please , that is giving them far too much credit .

She looks a bit special , lots to learn , ran about a little at the top of the straight , but boy she has a motor .

Just because it's not the worst doesn't mean it's it is a G3 quality field , just says the rest are shite , it is basically a R88 , not nearly good enough . Where do we draw the line and say , ok the quality is now too poor , we have been there for a fair few seasons now but nothing really changes , in fact they increased stakes for black type racing at the expense of the lower grade horses when in reality the supposed higher quality horses aren't really that much better . Tradition means nothing when the quality doesn't reflect that tradition . Tradition is dead and buried in NZ racing . This is called centralization , get used to it , the CD is next , and in time with the new ATC so is the Northern area to a large degree . I agree the whole pattern and structure is wrong , but that is so for the whole of NZ racing . It needs to be completely broken down and rebuilt , rebuilt to fit with what we are now and into the future . We have to accept where we stand in the world of racing , the glory days are gone , i see our best as somewhere between Aussie G3 and provincial , accept this and rebuild from here . Will this happen , not in my lifetime , not with the lack of vision and courage that is ensconced in running NZ racing .

Wouldn't work , they would have to carry 80kg's and the rest would be on 50kg's , wouldn't be enough lite weight riders . Highest rated horse for the cup is 88 so just another mid rating race but with black type and an inflated stake , another race that needs a major down grade . Certainly not the cup that stops a nation .

It's not only in the SI , the CD 2yo scene is all but non existent in the spring now . Wang ran they're usual scamper at the beginning of Sept and now 2 months on we finally have another today at Otaki , but only 4 runners . There have been a few more numbers at trials but really not enough to sustain regular races , plus even the northern scene is quite fragmented now , not sure why , there seems to be plenty at the trials . I would assume that a lot of these horses are just being educated to get serious later to try for a sale . I have said and suggested that our 2yo season should be held back and start about mid November , this might not suit the Karaka people but it would definitely suit our product . Then put in place a clear set of path ways and a pattern to give owners and trainers some surety around what to do with their youngsters . 2yo racing in NZ used to be really exciting but now self interest and a lack of interest has ruined it . What's new !

MIkey this is not SENZ fault , they are probably supplying what they are paid to , no more no less , the fault lies wholly and solely at the feet of the TAB . They have been shitting on punters for years in various different ways , withdrawing radio coverage was the last in a long line . But the roosters are coming home to roost .
-
Mikey you are going to have to understand no one is doing anything right for the punter , the TV coverage is as much about making ad revenue than showing the cup . As for the TAB pushing for improvements , to them this is an improvement , there was no coverage before . There is no one at the TAB that would listen to the racing coverage or be able to tell you where to find SENZ on the radio band .

It's a tough one Gamma , but i can see them going again at the championships , but yeah there is always that chance of something terrible happening . I'm sure they will do right by the mare . -
I'm not jumping on anyone's bandstand , you know that well enough , but you continue to say that JMac has had very little input into this mare's and NS change of attitude , which is incorrect , JM has been working with VE from her arrival from D Weir's stable , rode her raceday from day 1 , but not just on raceday but in regular trackwork , as he has with NS since the horse was xfered to C Waller . NS in particular never settled when in various stables prior to getting to CW's , and as i have said CW has given huge credit for the change in " attitude " in both to Jmac . And i'm sure that the track rider has played their part also . I'm not trying to detract from her fantastic win , i didn't back her but the minute she appeared i was yelling for her , so perhaps you need to jump off " your bandwagon " and put your feet firmly in the camp that everyone is entitled to an opinion . p.s. D Lane has ridden her twice , her last two starts prior to today , for a 3rd and a 4th , so i doubt he has played any great part in getting her to settle .
-
Chief , i have said this before , Waller has given huge wraps to J Mac for the work he has done with Both VE and Nature strip in training , he rides both horses regularly in training . He is a large part of the change in behaviour .

The key is staying with the Aussie coverage .

In the stipes report from this meeting , T Yanagida was spoken to regarding his whip use on a horse that was clearly winning . Good to see the stipes were awake so early in the day .
-
And then we have the 500k G1 for 3yo's , the stallion making race , 13 nom's , 2 fillies , 8 geldings , leaving 3 colts . Wonder how many times BP and Rodders will mention that it is a stallion making race on Saturday .
-
On top of today's joke G3 at Te Rapa we are now giving 75k and black type to a R88 race at Riccarton , The Metropolitan is a disgrace for the money , the major lead up to the NZ Cup , well if this is a sighter for next weeks cup then that is going to be an even bigger shambles . We used to pride ourselves on breeding stayers , not on this evidence .

Just be grateful they didn't paste then copy .

Had a heap of racing last couple of months .
