  1. Also if they didn't have enough people to pick up saddles why wasn't she strapping a horse as well .
  2. Hands up , i've done this to lend a hand , but really for integrities sake should only be stable representatives of the stable picking up saddles .
  3. I get what your saying , but fuck it makes us look like small town hicks . It's something that might happen at the Birdsville races .
  4. Hope he gives Danielle more emotion than that at home . Also i wonder how many in that room knew he was the trainer of the first 4 home , and there were a few not even caring that the race was on .
  5. I actually thought the $2.60 was way too generous , could not see any other than a 1/2 finish for these two horses , the tote price of $1.70 was a more on the money . So i think the bookies were way too generous in the price they gave them . On the evening itself i got the feeling from watching on TV that the crowd was not as large as previous years , some one could put me right on that . Also didn't seem quite the same atmosphere , still a very enjoyable race meeting tho .
  6. For a young man he doesn't get fazed , always composed when interviewed , here and in Aus . Has the answers to all the questions and puts them forward clearly and precisely , if only all trainers were this open and approachable . He obviously has a talented team of horse people behind him , i know that Scott Lucock runs his colts barn , Scott in his is a very good horseman , who achieved a decent amount of success in own right . If they are all of this calibre then it certainly takes a lot of weight off JR's shoulders . I am actually considering get on this gravy train , never thought i would . But hey , if you can't beat em , join them .
  7. Ha , wondered what happened there , was just thinking the other day that i must ask you what had happened . Now i know .
  8. Well with a bit of luck tomorrow night you may well end up with one . I think he would be a tough owner to deal with tho .
  9. Weanling sale is still the best value sale , i got a half brother to horse that came out and won 2xG3 and a G2 in Sydney for $1200 , the guy i gave him to train hammered him trying to make a sale that he ended up with him bleeding as a 2yo , took him off him but he was never really the same , could gallop tho , ended up bleeding again .
  10. Well like i said only ever had a few . I remember being there with a horse for Jimmy Choux Derby i think , well He's Remarkable was putting on a real colty performance in the tie ups , that was enough to put me off him as a stallion , and proven right , his progeny were very touchy . Be interested if someone could say if they added boxes with the new facilities .
  11. Have they got boxes ? there only ever used to be 5/6 in the old set up , hard to get . Haven't heard about boxes in the new set up , good if they have . Standard practice if in tie ups is 2/3 hours before race . Less if your horse is an active type .
  12. I got 3 and a bonus last week , i'm in .
  13. So they change the scratching time just in case of an extraordinary event . Nah . In any case the scratching time is 12.30 pm , so no horses will be on course till well after that , so it wont cover that contingency . It's just giving trainers an extra 5 hours to decide whether they are running or not , don't know what's going to sway them one way or the other in that time . A horse that isn't running at 7.30am isn't going to be running at 12.30pm . If a horse gets injured in after 7.30am it can just do the usual thing and be a late scratching .
  14. Well if it fails there will be a reality check , the test will be if they go big again after a failure .
  15. How many times do you see a late scratching from a horse travelling to the races , not many . They don't have a late scratching time every time they have a twilight meeting . Anyway a horse scratched because of an issue on the way to the races is extra ordinary , the rest of the horses connections should be able to make their mind up by the usual 7.30am .
  16. For anybody who wants to know , the sales will be covered on Sky channel 263 from Sunday , presume it will just be the 3 days of K1 . Sale commences at 1pm each day .
  17. that's called a late scratching .
  18. Apparently it only a group of 350 members .
  19. Yea , well i see they are getting into bed with Te Akau , getting DE to purchase a yearling for them , no doubt JR will be training it . No slumming it for these boys .
  20. Well just read that scratching time for Ellerslie tomorrow is 12.30 , so if you want to put a bet on before lunch then go out somewhere you are just going to have to take your chances that your bet is going to run . Don't know why they think trainers need the extra 5 hours to decide if their horse is going to run .
  21. A little after my time , listed company when i was there , Steve Brem was the head honcho .
  22. Worked with Full on a Aces at Waikato , lovely horse to do anything with .
  23. I'd be happy at 10% , I haven't seen too many trainers that give their horses a pat or hug at all , far less daily . Sounds like a lovely man .
  24. I'm not disagreeing , i'm saying their brain turns to shit because they see the big bucks up , not justifying it .
  25. And he proves the natural selection theory , born to run as well as he did .
