So Greg can you please explain to me why they can act so fast with one set of people but in your opinion can be so deliberate with another .

I would suggest your survey that " the vast majority of people own and use these these on a regular basis " , is flawed . I know of no one who uses these devices , and i would know large numbers of punters . Maybe the survey was taken in the circles you run in . Never judge a persons personnel financial position , perhaps their choice is Sky or a punt and listen on the radio . Perhaps they didn't need Sky for anything else and were just happy to listen , i love listening to the races on the radio , my choice , not anymore .

I bow to your experience around HR , my own having revolved around dealing with those depts before i became self employed . To be honest i very rarely dealt with someone in HR anywhere that actually understood their jobs , i usually had to explain not only my own employment contracts but explain in a lot of instances the employment law around what i was talking to them about . If they are always slow , which appears the case with the senior management team at RITA , how does that reconsile with the break neck speed with which they undertook the slashing of the plebs . They said it was in response to the Covid situation so not something they had been working on prior . Maybe i'm just cynical , i am , but it definitely appears to be double standards to me . Or maybe the really cynical part of me thinks they are just misleading the industry . ( taking the piss ) . P.S. My wife who has worked in administration for many decades has always said that the HR is a dept for people who can't work anywhere else in an organisation . And in this i will bow to her greater knowledge .

And that's the point , how little thought has been been put into all this . Seems their only option looked at was shut it down , did they explore other options , no indication given that there was . Lack of effort , lack of imagination , lack of any serious plan on how to start putting NZ racing back on a stable foundation . They can close down the radio station , that actually promotes gambling , but they are taking months to review senior management . If there was a real will this should all be sorted by now , or a serious plan on how it was going to be achieved , but they are flying by the seat of their pants . And the pants have holes in the arse .

Analysis/ratio , these weren't needed , and you don't need to accurately determine the outcome , anyone with any intelligence can work out if you take away a persons platform for listening to their money running then they are going to stop betting , i know of at least 5 people who have stopped or significantly reduced their betting because they can't hear the races , they couldn't afford sky so radio was their platform , how many others thruout the country are in the same boat . If nothing else it was a window into the industry . The 3mil saved wasn't going to save the industry , losing the bodies at the top table would have served the industry much more productively and financially . Even being as positive as you are , you must see that this was a brain dead decision .

Mate come on , " only time will tell " , how much time do they need . The review was happening at least 2/3 months ago , the sceptics are already correct in that this should have happened with the rest of the cuts , especially considering how quick they were to chop the plebs off at the knees . Surely even you can't justify the length of time taken to finalize this review , or lack of information about the review since it was announced . It's just piss taking .
-
Wonder how that cost/benefit ratio is going with the number of people not betting because they can't hear them anymore .
-
Wasn't those guys feasting at the top table tho was it , 4/7 was your guess at the number to lose their jobs . All the sceptics weren't holding their breath that any were going to end up redundant . The scoff at the trough continues .
-
Wash your mouth out you unwashed SI heathen , and show some bloody respect to your betters .

Have always said mdns shouldn't be part of a Saturday programme . And in winter running amateur races on a Saturday is not a good look for your industry either , and i am in no way having a dig at the amateur riders , they have their place , just not on a Saturday . Saturdays should be promoting your product .
-
Unfortunately it's not just way the industry is going , it is being (mis)managed down the gurgler .
-
I was in the very bottom right hand corner , we always got there early to get that posi' , but i always just enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere as the crowd grew and the anticipation as we got closer to the races starting , even as a teenager . I'm getting misty , ha .

The trainer broke all the rules , she was just great enough to cover his arse . Bringing back fond memories .
-
And this is exactly what they are relying on , they are taking the piss with the most important component of racing , OWNERS . This problem is because they programmed 1 meeting a week in the CD for most of AUG/SEPT , finally and as usual waking up slower than the rest of the fecking industry and putting on an extra meeting at Otaki . Everything they do is like they are stuck in treacle .

Could've heard a pin drop when R Skelton led her back to scale , Varnamo 2nd i think , memory isn't 100% sound tho .
-
Wasn't she a freak , was there when she ran 2nd to Good Lord , screaming for her out wide then GL snuck up along the rail , if i remember rightly C Ramage rode and i think he lost his whip as well . I reckon to this day if she had seen him she would have won , but not a bad horse to be beaten by tho , franked the form with 2 Sydney cups and plenty of others as well .
-
Not i would surmise .

Lisa's stable has been under pinned by 3 owners over the last 15 years , 2 in particular in Street and McAlister , in more recent seasons by Kevin Pratt who unfortunately passed away last week . Street cut his numbers back significantly 3/4 years back and McAlister seems to be on the same path , possibly health related . Pratt seemed to farm a few more around the last couple of seasons and shifted a couple to Aus . She doesn't appear to have the same number at the races so perhaps indicating numbers at low at present . On top of that attracting new owners to the game is tough now .

Chrissy trains at Foxton , has water walker at parents property .

Well let me see , a cpl of weeks back they raced at Avondale on the Wed and went back on the Sat when Puke wasn't up to it , so why not straight back to Taupo on Sat , seems it didn't take too much of a bash yesterday and they are moving the rail for Wed . Are you another racing exec trying to protect your species . I'm arguing for industry participants , where do your loyalties lie ?
-
Can't you read , i said that in my first sentence , my point was why wasn't the meeting xfered to be held on Sat . All the work is done , just needed a different track . Turnover wont be the same as if held on a Sat .
-
Hey Joe , just to update you on Fasthorse , seen him driving his truck yesterday , so maybe not as poorly as thought .
-
Well Ruakaka gone . Going to put on a replacement meeting next week . Why could this meeting have been xfered to somewhere south of Auckland to give participants a race meeting . Yet again B Saundry takes the easy option instead of working in the best interests of owners/trainers and jockeys . I can't believe xfering this meeting would have taken much to organize . Seriously disappointing decision .

I like your think your !

You've gotta love a JAFA , they live in Auckland but they don't like living there , no fecking way , not in a lock down , if there's gonna be a lock down they want to be in the Coromandel . Getting turned back at the check points . They're triers .
