I agree with your argument , but do you trust them to get it done , i don't , so in the best interests of all make sure this meeting goes ahead . If this meeting ends up getting canned it will down to pure mismanagement . I feel for Ruakaka but this is a no brainer .

For the betterment of the wider industry they need to ensure the meeting goes ahead , that means moving it . Exemptions etc are going to take time .

I see Ruakaka has been postponed till Sunday , why not xfer it to a Waikato , Tauranga track to ensure it definitely goes ahead . Cant see the level 3 only lasting 3 days . They need to be smarter .

The NZ breeding industry is doing a damned sight better than the NZ racing industry so i know which one is in a position to subsidize a race open only to the horses sold by those breeders . The breeders are the first to moan if anyone moots a subsidy on any horse sold to overseas buyers to help subsidize the NZ racing industry .

I can tell you Joe there ARE plenty of coal face participants at the end of their tether with the way NZ racing has been mismanaged and are starting to move out of their racing interests . Racing in the CD is in a gradual decline , has become more pronounced over the last 5 or so years , i would say in 10 years the size of CD racing could easily halve or more . It is becoming a desert , many of the people still hanging in there are simply doing so as they have few options outside of racing and are hoping for a miracle .

These decisions are being made by the club themselves tho , utterly ridiculous when the industry is in such a precarious position . I just can't see the upside .

If the races are going to be funded by the wider industry then the races need to be opened up to the wider industry participants . If you want it to be restricted to horses bought out of particular sales then they need to be funded purely by those companies . Does the Queensland magic millions get wider industry funding ? I do agree tho , fantastic race meeting , whether there or on TV .

Utter folly if this goes forward with condition NZ racing is in . The reward for risk is negligible and nothing more than a gamble . A poor one at that .

If their TIPS are going to be coming from the same sources as already being shown on TV i.e The Shark , BP , Sweens and Rodders , then it's complete WOFTAM . Money better spent else where .

One issue of many , racing needs to be striped back and rebuilt , finding the right builders will be the issue . At present we have people presenting themselves as Tradesmen when really they are just average DIY's . Be fantastic to get racing back to Foxton , it might just be enough to get me back on track .

Plenty of jocks get on the right horses but lack of ability to be where they need to be tends to stop the right horse . The young lady yesterday was exceptional , had the horses where they needed to be when they needed to be . She has a real calmness about her riding , never panics , and lovely balance , always seems to know how much horse she has under her and doesn't have to bash them in a tight finish , Tavi Mac the perfect example .

This problem was created when they decided to remove 8 meetings from the CD during July/Aug/Sept . I stated a while back that this would create an issue for mdns and R65's and so it has become . 1 mdn sprint this week so enough to split into 3 tells you there is not enough races for the lower grades . Midweek was always essentially for lower grades , those don't exist at present , they have just tacked a cpl ofthem onto Sat meetings . Lets see if they have enough sense to start programming an extra meeting or two to alleviate this overflow . The biggest issue they have tho is their inability to react quickly .

Don't we already have an A/W track in the CD , Castlepoint , mother earth seems to maintain it perfectly . Does sweep it away occasionally but always puts it back .

Yea , the shark , he's a busy fucker , selections for any race they show , don't know how he does it because most of the obscure shit has no form available . They would be better off putting up " the easy bet picks " for the race . Again always hope he's not crapping on my pick by selecting it .

Scary thing is they think they are relevant . I just keep praying the don't pick anything i like , that's the death knock majority of the time .

This is what happens when you are only programming one meeting a week in a region . If there had been another meeting during the week there would have been 4 more races , so 40k saved , and 40k less for owners , trainers and jocks . They are trying to micro manage meetings , whilst it gives benefits it will also have it's negatives , this is one of them .

Their thinking is we should just be grateful they are putting on another race for lower rated horses , done the same with both the 1400 and the 1600 65s . Just bow and scrap as you move away saying thankyou . Will give them their due , they did split the mdn 1300 into 3 races to give everyone a crack . Does one right out weigh a wrong .
