  1. I would suspect they would have to pay royalties to put live commentaries on air . I think most people that sports bet would already have access to coverage most of the time . Personally as long as the races were back on and they worked on getting more advertising to help cover costs would be a better way to go . I know ads are a pain but they help pay the bills .
  2. They must just about be ready for a body brace the amount of back flips they have done . Just goes to show how little real thought and understanding was put into some of these decisions . Now let's see how long until radio trackside or some form of radio coverage is reinstated . My bet is they will do something , they have underestimated the effect some of these decisions were going to have on their business .
  3. Don't want participants to see just how bad they are travelling , what they don't get is if participants knew exactly what the industries position was we would be more understanding , we might tell them to pull their finger out , PRONTO , but we would be polite doing it .
  4. Must be special , ran the 1000 mtrs in 51.91 .
  5. I can't say much as i have been part of the problem over the years regarding selling to Asia , but it will only get worse if they don't get a a grip and start finding solutions , as they are paid to . Interesting that WP said he was pleased that Korea was starting to become another viable outlet for selling horses to , wont really help in his call to make racing great again .
  6. They have Ruakaka down for meetings next year , the reason they aren't using it now is because they said they didn't want to have people traveling too far for races , but that was before we came out of the Covid quicker than expected . They also have Matamata where trials have been held , Tauranga which has meetings scheduled next season . I can't work it out , if it is a funding issue then we seriously fecked .
  7. Yes , it has been the underlying thought in my mind . If that is the reasoning , then how bad is the situation .
  8. Noms out for TE Rapa and they have programmed 12 races, but there are sufficient noms to run 21 full fields . 310 noms, now there are some double noms but not enough to cause much change . Have they done the right thing by owners and said we have to put on further meetings to meet demand or at least said that they are looking at the possibility , NO , NO , NO . They have said any horse missing a run at Te Rapa , 142 horses missing a run , will be guaranteed a run at Counties on the 11th or Ellerslie on the 15th . This is not good enough from NZTR , they asked the industry to come to the party after Covid and get their horses into work . Well come to the party they did , BIG TIME . But NZTR has forgotten that they were putting a party on . DISGRACEFUL . NZTR has failed their participants massively . I genuinely feel sorry for every owner that has missed a run this week . All they had to do was program another meeting , it was always obvious from trials and the Counties noms that the horses were there . Short sighted and myopic . Will they add meetings or will they stubbornly stick to what they have programmed , SAD . .
  9. Give them long enough there will be more boards than horses or participants .
  10. Iv'e said a number of times but i'll say it again , he has contributed nothing , nada , fuckall , to NZTR . Hasn't come up with one initiative during his tenure as the CEO to improve the galloping code , has been sitting waiting for the Messara report to fix it all , He's made the last couple of CEO's look friggin Einsteins .
  11. Good luck with that , got hides like rhinos , will take a bit to prise them from there fat pay cheques .
  12. Yet another ozzie who was promoted to be gallopings saviour with his aussie racing resume . Another false dawn .
  13. Could be just a bigger bucket required .
  14. Intelligence constraint , self imposed or otherwise not sure .
  15. It was a decision made with Covid in mind and understandable but as usual showing very little ability to adapt to a changing situation , as i said a couple of weeks ago , in the CD they have used Otaki and Waverley for trials but wont program a meeting there , but will hammer Palmy and Wang . Blinkered thinking as usual .
  16. They should be putting on more meetings , i understand why they were cautious but the industry participants came to the party and shown there are sufficient numbers for them to step up and put on more meetings , and utilize more courses . As per usual one side letting the team down .
  17. If they are trying to run things on a shoestring then why have they got two presenters that don't really know their stuff . As usual no plan it's all seemingly off the cuff .
  18. If they can mislead their employees so blatantly what do we think they are doing to industry participants .
  19. One things for sure , whatever stakes the group races end up at , the high end breeders will fight tooth and nail to retain the status quo regarding black type races holding their status , irrespective of whether the quality of horse is of commensurate with grading .
  20. Your showing your age , are you sure your carer is putting the bets on for you .
  21. I see that Aussie school boy is on again this avo , he must be on some kind of student exchange . Or at least that's what he told his folks . He looks about 16 , or am i just getting old ? Scary either way .
  22. Owners are eternal optimists , but more and more are becoming realists , that means in the short term we have to start getting the minimum up . The vast majority of horses will get no where near G1 level and most owners understand this . So we need to make sure there is an incentive to still want to be involved in the first instance , and then staying involved once the horse has shown that it's ability is not going to take the owner to G1 glory , and that incentive is that if you only have a fair horse you can get some sort of return to help off set the cost , something that hasn't happened for a long time . So if black type races have to take a hit in the short term to maintain and improve the minimum stakes to make sure people stay on board as owners then that's what has to happen . We can then start to re build , but there has to be a starting point . As critical as stakes are , the diminishing ownership levels are of just as great a threat for the industry . I get what your saying , but there has to be some blood spilt in the short term . The horses that are good enough will still go to Aussie to chase bigger money , but honestly how many times have we seen a horse that has won one of our G1 but go to Aus and simply not match up , in some instances not even competitive at their G3 level . We need to be realistic as to where our standard of racing measures up and stop thinking our racing is what it used to be . As for " a rich mans sport " , whatever it was , it is now , if you want to race a horse on your own , you need to be pretty comfortable , hence so much syndication now . If whatever leadership we have going forward gets it right , and it's a big if , i see no reason why NZ racing can start getting better stakes for black type races along with a more balanced structure across all levels , but in the short term i think we are going to have a lot of pain .
  23. Well i take absolutely no notice of the comments line , they are clearly done by someone on a day's work experience .
  24. I ask myself why ? , what do they know that we don't , because i'm convinced there are certain parties or entities within the above named that seem to be in an inner sanctum and therefor privy to certain information the rest of us plebs don't to be so positive in the changes . Either that or they all have fall back positions that they are comfortable with in the event things fall apart . Or it could all be put down to simple self interest .
  25. I would think along the lines of " clueless generated " .
