  1. From what i understand from reading the above the issue was purely around the type of horse was utilizing the 2yo grass , the reaction from the respondent was dangerous component here , yelling and screaming around young horses at any time can unnerve them and create problems , more so with a rider up . It doesn't read as the young girls riding towards the respondent , both sets of horses appear to be working reverse , the only real issue i can see is the respondent wasn't happy about a horse older than 2 utilizing that track .
  2. This industry just doesn't learn , in this economic climate along with Covid and the way racing is travelling , why a racing club would go into millions of dollars of debt to fund what at best could be described as a gamble is beyond me . Along with repaying that debt they are going to have to find extra for the maintenance of the A/W track . I would be asking some serious questions if i was a member . RACE will no doubt be going down a similar path . I know a number of people around the CD who are so pessimistic about where racing is going , they still have horses in work or training them but are seriously considering giving it away , simply can't see any upside , and the enjoyment factor is all but gone , it's all a struggle . Surely if there is that much money waiting to be made from the housing development they can think of a better way to utilize the funds . The start of the A/W sink holes .
  3. Met very few in racing that didn't think they were an expert . I start every Sat morning thinking i'm an expert and usually at the end the day clearly an amateur .
  4. You will know in your heart already which is the right thing to do . If it is the right thing to hand it over then the drama is secondary .
  5. Well i see this Saturdays meeting at Palmy is actually a WRC meeting , why could this not have been run at Trentham , got to be in better nick than Awapuni having it's 3rd meeting inside 4 weeks , and i think nom's prove this . I understand the decision was made during Covid but surely once things got back to near normal much faster than anticipated then why couldn't adjustments be made to reflect that . Otaki , Woodville and Hawera are all just sitting idle . I think this is just slack management , they would get more plaudits for being big enough to make changes than trying to stick to their guns until clubs say their tracks aren't handling the load .
  6. Wanganui on the 14th Aug xfered to Waverley .
  7. Bowman saying he was dictated to by horse in front and inquiry adjourned . If they fall for that their as bad as our lot .
  8. i got the 15s , and very happy with that , plenty of happy punters out there i think , the way it kept shortening . Well done Pam , in form stable .
  9. Exactly , they shouldn't be left in charge of a vege shop .
  10. The Palmy A/W will be like a greyhound track .
  11. This is the only real positive that will come out of The A/W at Cambridge . All 3 tracks that are having A/W's installed have local trainers state that they will be great for " training and trialing during the wetter months " . Single mindedness at play again .
  12. The two best winter tracks in the N I not being used in winter , incompetence . I said it before , don't waste 13 mil on A/W at Palmy when you have Foxton sitting 20 mins away . There is a single mindedness in play here that i don't understand .
  13. Another meeting in 3 weeks . The beef i have is why , when there is Otaki , Waverley , Woodville , Hawera all sitting idle . They are so tunnel visioned . Same up north , Counties were supposed to be having their 3rd meeting today , why did they have to have another one ? now Avondale ( the racetrack no one wanted ) having their second meeting in 4 days , why , again other tracks available . It's this sort of management that gives me no confidence that things can be turned around . Not even mentioning Riccarton .
  14. Not 100% positive but going on the way he looked last time i talked to him i suspect he may be battling health issues . That was a few months ago , haven't seen him or his truck around since . If your reading this Fasthorse , hope your keeping well .
  15. Ok maybe we should asking why has he not gone out and found out more about the industry he is administering . As i said i don't care if he know's but if he doesn't then he needs to start surrounding himself with people who do . And don't belittle training a horse too much , whilst i have known many a trainer try to convince people it is rocket science , it's not , but there is a science to it .
  16. Why ? He's an administrator not a horse trainer . Should a hospital head administrator know the intricacies of how heart surgery works or should he just understand the costs associated with that surgery .
  17. All the more reason why people in his position should be having more consultation with industry participants about all aspects of NZ racing . I don't really mind that he doesn't know much about training racehorses , just wish he knew more about his own job .
  18. The ever decreasing circle .
  19. Ruakaka is down for some meetings next winter , provisionally . They said they didn't want industry participants to have to travel too far in the early stages of re starting racing . Unfortunately for South Islanders someone obviously didn't know where Invercargill was on the map .
  20. I agree , gallops needs to be completely remodeled . We will never be "great again" , but we can be very good and sustainable . As much as some posters seem to think we ( I ) are just moaners , we do understand that things need to change , and drastically . We have and always will produce great race horses but unfortunately we no longer have great racing . Our biggest stumbling block is a continual stream of visionless persons leading the industry . The fact that they made a raft of changes then put a large portion back in place shows that a lot of decisions are made with no distinct plan other than react to any particular situation , in the latest case , COVID . We need to have an overhaul to our rating system , our programming , our tracks , and the way we distribute our stake money . We have to make racing horses more sustainable along with making our race horses careers more sustainable . We have to understand where NZ racing really sits and stop comparing ourselves to Australia , we can never compete so don't try . Clubs can have their day in the sun , small 1/2 day clubs that are said to be draining the industry can have their day but , they must stand on their own two feet , their tracks must be up to an acceptable standard for racing and if they fail at achieving this it's adios , there must be a set of KPI's that these clubs must sustain to retaining their racedays , many are already doing this , very well . Sounds tough i know but there would be no more moaning we didn't get a fair go or they're a drain on industry funds . The big clubs also must accept that they have to do their bit , accepting that they can't always have the dates they want , especially at the expense of other clubs , it has to be what's best for the whole industry , no if's or but's . Pin point the major days and have race meetings that give clear and defined pathways for horses to make their way to their given goal . Some of our carnivals and major races have been buggered around with to the point that they have lost their glamour . Some i.e. cup week , still work so don't touch , but i struggle to comprehend whether we are a cohesive sport . The Wellington Cup carnival is a non event now IMO, to cater for another club , and many others i know . I don't believe we are big enough or strong enough , quality wise , any longer . Why can't we just have more singular big days . Does Hastings have to be 3 days , long gone are the days where we got lots of G1 horses competing and using it as a spring board to AUS , there maybe 1 or 2 if we're lucky that can truely be called G1 quality . Why can't it be a 2 day meeting and moved back so that it can be run on better surfaces . We also have to seriously look at the grading of our group races , NZ G1's aren't taken seriously , so what's better a dodgy G1 or a serious G2 , we have listed races that are by any standard very average , it' not our job to make it easy for horses to attain black print in a sales catalogues . These are just some ramblings and i by no means call them solutions but it looks like not much is changing with our calendar and probably our programming or stakes again , other than a few tweeks , this has been the status quo for many years now , and i suspect because of a lack of vision will stay so . Things need to change and those charged , and paid , to improve and move the industry forward appear completely lacking for this brief , i don't know the way to get the right people in the right positions , but i know myself and others i know would gladly give up our time , with no payment required , to help to try and get our great industry back to where it can been very good and sustainable . Happy for critique , and expected , but please remember these are just ideas to be thrown around and improved or completely ignored , but are put down with a passion and love for our industry , and also mostly for the animals i love .
  21. So everybody that was let go will be taking out PGs then , or is it only senior exec's that get the right . Personally would prefer that they were paid out now than keep paying them , save money and more fuckups in the long run . As for 3 of the 7 to go they should all have their arses kicked out the door . They have all contributed to the shitfest that the industry is currently in , why would you let any of them have a chance to drag things , mediocrity of performance is giving them too much credit . But all your doing is moaning at the moaners , does that make you the moaner of moaners . Still waiting for some of you innovations and ideas that will help drive the industry forward .
  22. Still waiting for the results of the review into the upper management , not going to hold my breath there .
  23. Also i'm assuming you posted the report as way of letting everybody know that we are in a stable position , but agreeing that's there still a lot to be done . Which is it .
  24. As usual JJ good at dishing out a barb , perhaps you could get hold of them on your direct line , cause i'm sure you could . How about you respond to some of the other things in my post . Or better still put up a few initiatives of your own . Plus you were the one that put the thread up and called out the Chief , how about you respond there , or you still recovering from the last mauling , flea . The infomercial lives on .
  25. So if this is supposed to suggest that all is well down on the farm why the delay , and , leaving industry participants in the dark , leading to supposition and suspicion as to why this delay . Are people playing games or just the usual lack of respect to those participants that have a right to know the financial position of the industry . There is still a smelly rat in the room . I don't believe the above report is a clear indication of the industry position , it's certainly not the panacea we require . There is a lot of change required to put it back on a stable position .
